Did Dan seriously think it made sense to shoehorn THREE separate plots into 11-minute episodes? It's a miracle Phineas and Ferb managed to be greenlit at all
I bet each segment took place at the same time, with each explaining questions brought up by earlier segments. That would be very difficult to pull off, even with this more organized method.
it helps that they said 'step' exactly once. they are a fully integrated blended family, which is not how it usually works, but is sweet anyway. I feel bad for mr. Flynn though. And it's kinda weird Linda would use her husband's last name hyphenated with her ex-husband's, rather than her maiden name.. which suggests maybe Flynn is her maiden name and the kids never had their dad's last name. But... you don't have TWO kids with a guy in that scenario, you have one.
I hate how MML turned out to be a glorified spin-off as opposed to standing as its own thing. I feel like this was a product of audiences growing too preoccupied with crossovers or "shared universes," and Dan & Swampy thinking it'd be the COOL thing to do.
I hope with the P&F revival we'll get cameos and easter eggs from MML. They both take place in Danville, just different neighborhoods.
Maybe characters from that show can take over P&F like Doof did with MML. Now P&F can know how it feels.
indeed, but at the same time, one criticism of his was valid
"they will think I made the critic"
I 100% thought that back then. It felt like the exact same animation and humor style to me. I can tell the difference now, but he was right to worry, and nobody wants people to think they made something they didn't
They were the best part of the show
by far
i also enjoyed Doof there. he was great. I hope that's how he is in PnF going forward, a bumbling attempted good guy. there's at least a season's worth of shit to milk out of that, and even new viewers would understand the idea of a formerly evil mad scientist who's still kinda stuck on the 'mad' part. and also still gets angry at things and has grievances every second because he's basically Dan Vs, except his Chris is technology.

er
he did, right? but it was more david x. cohen's baby. in the same way he created the simpsons but it was always more sam simon's. creator is different from leader.

>creator is different from leader.
Which is lame when said creator gets all the credit despite being so far removed beyond the pilot. Groening could've at least given Cohen a co-creator credit from the jump. Judge and MacFarlane were always humble like that.
I've got a lot of respect for Dan & Swampy. They've always seemed so heavily involved with their shows every step of the way. I'm interested in seeing how they approach the new PnF seasons.

indeed
I have found it fascinating, actually, seeing the thumbprints of different creators who have worked in different duos. Bob's Burgers has Judge's partner from King of the Hill, and it totally shows, which retroactively makes it clear which parts of KotH were not Judge, and then you look at his solo work and you go "oh yeah"
and the other Bob's guy is the one who worked with Brendon Small on Home Movies, so you can see Small's solo stuff and Bouchard's solo stuff and which parts went into that...

How did Dan and Swampy manage to gather good crew members for their shit like did they recruit the good people from other stuff they worked on in the past or what because it's like everyone they have on there is witty and creative.

He's going through a divorce.
after like 20 years! AND they're still friends! that's not something the average guy could pull off.
He's even friends with his daughters' friends. Who I bet are kind of relieved to be able to spend time at a Hollywood guy's house safely.

>Doof wants to make the Tri-State Area a better place with his Inators >he's completely oblivious to some obvious flaws and dangerous side-effects said Inators could cause >Perry is sent to either stop him from making things up worse or help him fix the problem
Sounds like a good angle.

that's how it worked in MML except smalltime, more just helping the family he was mooching from. because doof is a lot of things, but NOT a freeloader.
it's funny realizing they were what made it good, as everything the rocko creator did later was crud. even though back in the 90s he had the right attitude toward busybodies demanding representation and shit..
His life got worse >first wife killed herself >second wife divorced him >his former employee Steven Hillenburg created a much more successful show without his help >hated by his own daughter for adding trannies in Rocko
ouch
well that last one serves him right, but you should always love your dad even if he goes astray. being isolated is what made these people like this in the first place. that's why they're nonstop harping on 'inclusion.' you have to include them, while keeping a firm insistence that they're wrong.
A lot of trannies get off to the idea of wearing women’s clothing and going into women’s spaces

I mean maybe, what I'm trying to get at is the troony thing was for clout, and less an addition, just as in the 90s him being gay would've been the big clout.
The writers in this show seem to feel like they need to constantly have wacky asides to their shorts. That weird Al show also had some weird guys who made no sense.
oh i assumed anon was talking about the actual show called 'the weird al show'
now I read that and realize he meant MML and yeah probably dakota and cavendish
who were indeed the best part of the show. and it's really sad the network made them (or so I assume) focus harder on the kids at first. because once again, they're the most boring part.
I feel like Milo Murphy's Law maintained a decent balance of Dakota/Cavendish focus and teen focus. For the record, I did enjoy what Milo and his friends got up to, even if they'd act a little too casual around all the chaos for my liking. Dakota and Cavendish were more entertaining because they were so reactionary.
These predate Oggy by several years; Dan and Swampy were pitching PnF by 93-94 after a couple years of developing them. Not sure when the bugs came into the picture but it was definitely before '94.
I do not, maybe thats why it failed.
Weren't Baljeet and Buford supposed to get a spinoff?
those bugs were originally going to be a C plot for Phineas and Ferb, along side Doof and Perry. But they were cut-off
>Blonda & Rickenshmirtz
his name was, in fact, Mittelshertz. That is, "Dr. Period Pain"
Disney sadly caught that.
yeah that's how shows were back then most of the time.
Did Dan seriously think it made sense to shoehorn THREE separate plots into 11-minute episodes? It's a miracle Phineas and Ferb managed to be greenlit at all
No, each segment was it's own thing, probably 7 minutes.
>Bugs
>P&F
>Perry~~~~ the platypus
Ah, so like a half-hour variety show like Animaniacs? I can see how this pitch originated in the '90s then.
>Caffeine & Punki
>Los Toongeles
>looks like new york's Time Square
I like his girls.
I bet each segment took place at the same time, with each explaining questions brought up by earlier segments. That would be very difficult to pull off, even with this more organized method.
The way Dwampy writes, I'm gonna say yes, yes that was.
Anyone forget their step brothers frequently? They get along so well.
unlike me and my step brother
it helps that they said 'step' exactly once. they are a fully integrated blended family, which is not how it usually works, but is sweet anyway. I feel bad for mr. Flynn though. Maybe it would have worked if they kept Candace as a fly.
*eats apple core*
I mean they just aren’t that funny
They do not make me want to have sex with them.
the spin-offs were a fireside girls show and the OWCA files thing, those bugs were just reused characters from the original pitch
Wasn't Doof 101 an attempted spinoff?
yeah I forgot that one too
I hate how MML turned out to be a glorified spin-off as opposed to standing as its own thing. I feel like this was a product of audiences growing too preoccupied with crossovers or "shared universes," and Dan & Swampy thinking it'd be the COOL thing to do.
Cameos and easter eggs do plenty.
No

Would be cool to see King Pistachion again, sad that he got pissed out since he was a badass character.
It's crazy the bugs are so old.
Definitely the most 90's designs in anything P&F I've seen. Reminds me of the things in Rocko.
Kino
They were workshopping P&F since they were working on Rocko's Modern Life
No, what the frick are those hideous creatures?
no i don't. links?
also, is this the thread?
Maggie deserved a second season.
I want Maggie on me dick
wrong show
Don’t care
let him cook
you're right. here's my apology
GIWTWM.
Candance Fly Blowjob? YES PLEASE.
bit of an exaggeration to call that a blowjob, but worth it for the 'blowfly' pun.
>is the best character
That's been clear since day 1.
These bugs are very Rockoesque, but they worked on Rocko so doesn't surprised me.
it's funny realizing they were what made it good, as everything the rocko creator did later was crud. even though back in the 90s he had the right attitude toward busybodies demanding representation and shit..

I need a sauce on that chief, based daughter.
by his own daughter for adding trannies in Rocko
serves him right, he became what he mocked
ouch
well that last one serves him right, but you should always love your dad even if he goes astray. being isolated is what made these people like this in the first place. that's why they're nonstop harping on 'inclusion.' you have to include them, while keeping a firm insistence that they're wrong.
The troony was also his self insert. Maybe his daughter should be worried and look after him incase he cuts dick off
He would've been gay in the 90s, I doubt Joe Murray is actually a homosexual sapien though.
A lot of trannies get off to the idea of wearing women’s clothing and going into women’s spaces
I mean maybe, what I'm trying to get at is the troony thing was for clout, and less an addition, just as in the 90s him being gay would've been the big clout.
yesh, it was amazing. Steven Root fricking killed it.
NERD AIN’T NO PIÑATA
then why does he get pounded like one?
The writers in this show seem to feel like they need to constantly have wacky asides to their shorts. That weird Al show also had some weird guys who made no sense.
and it was funny there, too. they don't "need to," it's funny. it's a comedy staple.
You talking about Dakota and Cavendish? They're really interesting, especially the twist that eventually happens.
oh i assumed anon was talking about the actual show called 'the weird al show'

it's not like it's a bad show, it's just not as good as PnF. neither is Hamster + Gretel, but I think it gets closer.
>especially the twist that eventually happens.
I don't care about lore and twists in a gag show. They were not funny.
what kind of things do you enjoy?
They were the best part of the show
Who?
Are they related in any way to the wienerroaches in Oggy and the wienerroaches or is the green, purple, and orange just a huge coincidence?
My dad loved this show but I can't remember dick about it.
That's actually what I first thought upon opening, too — now which came first?
> but I can't remember dick about it.
Essentially a lot like Tom and Jerry except the cat's the underdog in this case.
These predate Oggy by several years; Dan and Swampy were pitching PnF by 93-94 after a couple years of developing them. Not sure when the bugs came into the picture but it was definitely before '94.
Oggy and the wienerroaches were from 1997.
Ah, okay.
