Streaming bubble about to pop and bestbuy decides nows a good time to pull out of physical media? I swear you gotta be the type of moron that drowns in your own spit to run these companies.

streaming bubble wont pop if you dont have a choice, stupid goyim.

There is a choice to just not pay for it or use the 'free with ads' services. Piracy is always an option when physical media isn't. Regardless of whether retailers carry it, you can always buy used.

This isn't going to happen per this anon. It's now often cheaper to buy a season or two of a show you like on DVD or Blu Ray than pay for the ad-free tier of whatever streaming service hosts it. This isn't going to replace streaming because new shows will come out, of course, but it's definitely going to cut down on the number of services people pay for if they have ones they exclusively watch for older content. If anything, physical media is on its way back.

It could happen, other retailers are carrying less or not carrying it at all, like Target. Just seems a little premature. A few years ago Target had a entire isle for movies. At my local Target, its just a small end cap shelf in the book isle.

Oh, sure, but a large part of that has to do with brick and mortar retailers faltering in general. Almost anything that's small enough to not have to pay exorbitant shipping for it is getting bought online now. That's why every Best Buy is just a glorified car accessory and sound system store now and every Target and Wal-Mart is just a grocery store with extras.

      >nows a good time to pull out of physical media
Just get a large external drive and download every movie. Play it on a smart tv or Xbox/PS4 or Nvidia Shield. 2tb drives are $50 and can fit over 200 1080p films.

There is as much of a market as always, it's just that they are trying to kill it. They don't want ypu to be able to pay once and own forever, they want a constant flow of money from you. Because they're bastards.

Wake me up when Walmart and Amazon stop. BB is on the way out in general, they suck.

Saw this posted elsewhere, I think its just clickbait rumor. If true, kind of sucks I guess. Walmart, FYE, Barnes & Noble, and Bestbuy are probably the best places to still find a big selection of blu-rays, and if you're looking for something you can pick up same day, one of those four places will still typically have it.
We're in this weird crossroads where retailers have started to ditch physical media, but consumers are starting to buy it again due to streaming going down the shitter. Its hard to believe that 10 years ago, you really just needed Netflix and you were mostly covered on streaming.

Maybe not FYE soon. The only one left in my city has almost completely phased out music and drastically reduced their movie selection. They got an entire wall of funko pops and anime shit though.

Whats wrong with you dumb zoomies?
We've been downloading and burning DVDs for years.
Download them and keep the digital file and burn it to a DVD if you want to keep it.

All new movies are shit anyway, who even wants to own a movie made after 2010?

this homie obviously doesn't watch 2K/4K transfers of 35mm film. Or do you just think a pirated and burned DVD copy of a movie made before 2010 is 'good enough'?

If you think a DVD-R burned with a typical compressed 1.2 GB blu-ray rip found on TPB is comparable to pic related, you're blind, moronic, or just haven't experienced modern video quality.

            Listen, it goes like this
            >Kino = On
            >Brain = Off
I'm not going to sit their analyzing every scene like some fricking nerd. You sound like those people who say they "can't watch black and white movies".
Your kind are just like those audiophile pseuds. Basically you're beneath me.

        >grow up watching tv/movies with a max resolution of 480p during the best times
        >VHS would warp and degrade with use
        >thinking I need 1080p+ video quality to enjoy something
That's where you're wrong, zoomie. I'm just fine with sub-480p video quality. 1080p is nice, and 2k/4k isn't much of an improvement, but 1080p isn't necessary and never will be.

The only thing I care about is Avatar. I'm honestly (slightly) concerned that the later films won't be pressed to disc as the years go on, and I would like a complete physical set when it's all done. The rest can go to hell, nothing else of any value is being produced. Avatar is the only thing of aesthetic value which has occurred over the past 15 years or so. And if you don't like Avatar, you should reconsider those past 15 years, dominated by the iphone as we know, and then reconsider my assertion.

I got lots of good techno CDs in Best Buy a long time ago, back when they had a reasonable CD section. Won't make an Amazon account.

Does that mean they will have some sort of clearance sale? Can't wait to buy their DVDs or Blu-Rays at a cheaper price.
