Pixar re-releases

>Soul averaged 1 ticket sold per day, for 1350 theaters
>Turning Red on Feb 9th, and Luca on March 22

We're seeing the collapse of Disney box office in real time and Disney has no idea how to handle it. Anyone who wanted to see these saw them on D+ years ago.

Remember when Disney attempted to rerelease 3 flops to fight back when Godzilla Minus One shocked the US out of just pure word of mouth and the latter extended its intended 1 week run to full 2 months?

Ouch. Those poor theaters. Even though, they probably made more from the concession stand from those ticket buyers

I hope that was only 1 show per day because those are shit numbers.

I was curious so I looked into the data from all of my local theaters. These are showing on average 4 times per day and the tickets are regular price (no upcharge.) That means that the most crowded Saturday averaged FOUR people per showing. By the end 0-1 people per showing. Ouch.

If you buy a ticket to all 3 movies you get a coupon for buy 2 get 2 free tickets to Inside Out 2 as well. Not a bad deal.

I remember when Soul was announced and the trailer came out, etc. I was stunned that Pixar would waste time and money on such a garbage concept that literally nobody is interested in. Mind-boggling until you factor in Disney. Then it makes sense.

Note the insane differential in domestic vs international. It supposedly did 57 times more business in China than in the US. Righht.

All the new animated films from Disney are about how hard it is to be a 2nd gen immigrant, and just seem completely masturbatory. There's seemingly no attempt to make something that actually appeals to an audience, which is an across the board problem in Western entertainment.

that's what happens when you use twitter to measure your audience
they very likely consider the movies in the OP a success because of their "engagement metrics" coming from there, and they certainly wouldn't ever try to re-release them if they thought otherwise

it's like they forgot they paid for the bots to create the metrics

          >that's what happens when you use twitter to measure your audience

It's worse than you think. The entire middle management ARE the twitter addicts to begin with. They think twitter is the real world, and are both scared of getting criticized on twitter, and make films so that they can bask in praise on twitter. Everything they do is highly performatory, rather than trying to make a good product. It's "what will make me loved on twitter"

Yes. Disney can go less subtle if you like

That's what happens when you staff your company with second gen hispanics and Jeets

        It's great.
I haven't seen a domestic film since Oppenheimer.

It's about the injustice that light skinned blacks shun dark skinned blacks to fit in with whitey.

Ironically in sports it's the exact opposite: dark skinned blacks are considered "pure" while light skinned blacks are considered lame - unless they're good players in which case they're considered black.

They endlessly argue over who is the biggest victim, and seem unaware that eventually they too will be labeled an opressive force. Like they whine about "white corporate feminism" because they think they're the REAL feminisst who are oppressed. It's just Oppression Olympics competitoins.

This is Disney in the bargaining and denial phase. They put 200 million into each of them, so they want to at least get as much back as possible, but Soul didn't even break 1 million in box office.
