They spent WAY too much on this movie.

$200 million?! Where the frick did it all go?
Did they lose $70 mil behind the radiator?
I've gotta believe you could make the exact same movie for less than half the cost.
They raised $200m in capital and loans, relocated the money, and put out a substandard product.
At what point is this just money laundering?

That point was reached back in 1908 dumbfrick.

1908 is when the first west coast film studio was founded.

Why? It’s entirely within what other recent Pixar movies cost.

Should have made a Star Command film for kids instead

I would've loved a CGI star command film as a kid

I have a theory Pixar is intentionally making bad, uninspiring movies so they can send controlled explosives to the box office office and the employees are going to be screaming
    >"IT'S A FRICKING BOMB!"
    >"Yeah, we know. Another Toy Story..."
    >"NO, A BOMB. AN ACTUAL BOMB!"
The confusion will give enough time to level the building.

And Turning Red. Grossed something crazy like 20 million dollars.

It wasnt a bomb, it was actually the most-streamed thing out of all the movies and shows in every streaming platform

Turning Red was mainly Disney+ so I guess it doesn't count.

Lasseter's been living in swanky offices for so long, I don't think he can do anything but quirky corporate lore.

Lasseter hasn't made a good movie since Toy Story 2.

You can feed a third world country with all this money. Why are we pretending this is normal?

      Anonymous

Because that money goes to pay people's salaries whereas if we sent it to a third world country, the government would steal every bit of it

Theres no way they didnt lose 200+ million, the marketing for this movie was insane, it was everywhere, and thats not even accounting toy sales which are also probably in the toilet.

I just hear it isn't that good of a film. There are complaints that it isn't enjoyable for children and was aiming at an older audience but older audiences just didn't care for it either.

Pixar used to push the envelope with their tech, it used to be as big a draw as the stories, but audiences aren't impressed by that anymore either. They need to spend less on their films.

      Anonymous

The older audiences just say "Huh, why isn't it Tim Allen? This isn't Buzz." They don't buy a ticket for it, and they just forget about it. The only people who actually have this movie occupying space in their mind are the people who despise it for being another emblem of disney pushing gayshit on children.

I despise it because of principles, Pixar has been blocking the Star Command cartoon from getting more merch, recognition and legal releases.
