sequels yes, reboots, no
>sequels yes, reboots, no
Pleb tier
Some of the sequels are mediocre but tbh I would suggest watch them just so you can get an idea of the surrounding events. Like the cult religion of semos (ceaser)
Then watch the reboot which tells the story of the real ceaser.
With the reboots especially it shows how even in the apes the corruption that befalls man is rife too.
Sort of philisophical.
Which makes the reboots actually pretty respectful of the source material.
As for the reboots they are all good but each one has a kind of issue.
First one has too much non monkey business.
Second one has too much action and third one drops off in quality at the camp as well as has the forced "easter egg" girl which is a call back to the first movie, and the comic relief ape. Ending is KINO though.
If you like PotA then watch the burton one. it retcons everything and is stupid but it has his ugly wife in a monkey suit which strangely makes her actually frickable now.
Reboots are great, sequels mostly suck but in a fun way.
This. The second movie is the most decent of them
The sequels range from pretty bad to decent. The reboot trilogy is very good. I'd stay away from the Tim Burton remake
Where does the Wahlberg one fall on the spectrum
Skip it
Pointless remake. Adds nothing worthwhile. Inferior to the original.
>If I was on that planet with those apes. ... There would have been a lot of blood in that monkey doctor's lab
It's disappointing because you can tell it had a lot of potential but it's just pretty bad. Also Burton is a dumbass and seems to have completely misunderstood the point of the theme.
None of them get the feel of the original.
The first sequel, Return to the Planet of the Apes, which has a small role of Heston returning as Taylor, is so-so, worth a look. The rest of the original sequels are TV movie tier.
they’re all worth watching except beneath. that movie is fricking moronic.
that's the best sneedquel
i can tell you’ve never seen it because literally no one thinks that
i've seen all of them the only one that challenges it is Conquest. don't talk to me about Escape because that shit is gay
I think that. No other series had the balls to nuke the earth and still keep going for 3 more movies. And those three movies carry extra weight because they are all moving towards the inevitable end with Beneath.
literally any American city
>original
KINO
>Beneath
Fun schlock
>Escape
Comfy comedy
>Conquest
An mediocre flick with a great ending
>Battle
Bad
>Burton remake
Trash with great production design and makeup
>Reboot trilogy
Above average modern blockbusters
The 1970's TV show was great fun, better than any sequel after the first sequel.
So how's the tv show?
The new trilogy is one of the most solid trilogies ever made. They're grossly overlooked.
bruh, all of those are 90%+ on metacritic and were box office success
Reboots yes, sequels no
I like Tim Burton's remake with Tim Roth as the antihuman general
Been a while since I watch the og series. The original is amazing of course.
I recall Conquest being pretty fun, Battle just seemed like a cash grab. Escape I don't remember much and the sequel Beneath is not that good. Try to give them all a watch though
Watch Burton Apes for laughs
Rise Conquest and War are all pretty good. Conquest is probably the best of them because better visuals and action, War is not as good as the other two but is still strong.
WATCH THE APE KINO
Watch them all, do you have something better to do with your time? The original is S tier, the prequel trilogy is probably a step below that, and the sequels are worth a viewing at least onc3.
Literally all of them are worth even Burton one. Captain flashback ship scene still freaks me out
