Watching these shows probably feels like what watching Ren and Stimpy in the 90s for the first time felt like for some people, pure shock at seeing artists actually use the age old principles of animation. It’s why I have a weird respect for Molly McGee, the shows not perfect but it reminds one of what cartoons used to be, it’s kind of why I’m also rooting for this one.
Also the reason I also made the John K/Spumco comparison is because the egirl looks like a Spumco girl, and so did Molly McGee. There’s the Disney style, the anime style, but then there’s the Spumco style, the gross up close ups, the insane expressions, and the big eyes pointy chin Lynne Naylor girls. The Spumco style is the most intriguing of styles because unlike the Disney style for example, people just do it without realizing it, like I don’t even think Justin Rodriguez (Molly’s designer) even worked at Spumco, but because the Spumco style is so ingrained into the world wide animation industry, artists just do it out of instinct, like I’ve seen gross up close ups in anime and French cartoons.
Tweenkle would've had legs as a waifu in the old Cinemaphile or even nu/col/ eras, but we are in zombieCinemaphile era and content creation is dead, most of the drawfriends left for greener pastures or other boards long ago. And a bigger problem is the industry itself has been in a major downturn. ZaPR, like so many other recent shows, had great animation but snorefest writing and not many funny jokes, but I thought some of the voice actors (mainly the title characters and Tweenkle) elevated the strikebreaker writing.
Also these shows are all being dumped hard, in some cases borderline clandestinely like this one, and they end up with one season, so who is going to commit to watching really let alone drawing fanart etc if they know the show is dead?

Animation is interesting, but writing is terrible "hello, fellow children" hipster trash. Premise has the elements of being interesting and modern take on ET; some child's youtube channel suddenly features high quality alien prop. Theres "found footage" channels like that. The squirrel looks like it should be voiced by Rich Evans. Character designs are forgettable, I can see why this cartoon was dumped without any announcement.

Yes, very likely that will be the case. Not much else for it considering how the show was dumped all at once without any advertising. Not even a TV release it seems. Unless it miraculously gets a second season down the line, this pretty much is it.
I could see a second season only if it was part of the initial deal, unlike something like Glitch Techs that had a lot of incarnations before the final show it seems the show barely changed from the initial Pitch Bible to the final product, so maybe that could help a bit.

This episode and the one where she gets cancelled for saying she "hates nature" is the main thing that makes me sad the show won't continue. It felt like it was turning into a running theme with Tweenkle that on the rare occasions she's able (or forced) to step outside of her shallow screen persona she really was able to find an appreciation for nature that her permanently online influencer life was distracting her from. This show actually has some nice morals for kids growing up current year.

That's what I've been thinking. That maybe it's some bizarre stunt to try and drum up interest as cheaply as possible. I mean, in a way it's kind of working, right? That if Ruby didn't get such a rough deal she may have gone unnoticed. Now, I don't know if this gamble will really pay off, but it is something.

Season 2 prediction:
The first episode will have Ruby and her parents trapped in the castle dungeon, and they must find a way out and save Zokie before he gets executed by King Pootywinkle. Eventually, Ruby manages to get the guards on her side by asking if the king is really a good ruler and pointing out he is a tyrant who only cares about himself, and he never lets anyone archive their dreams and goals. The guards help Ruby and her parents out and make a big rebellion against the king.
The rebellion war turned out to be successful when 100% of the planet's population turned against their king after Ruby convinced them to open their eyes and encouraged to go after their dreams instead of having to obey their awful king's orders.
King Pootywinkle soon finds himself in outer space and screams that Zokie's best friend mange to convince everyone to overthrow him, Meanwhile Everyone wants to make Zokie their new ruler but Zokie politely declines because he would like to go back to his real home - Earth - to hang out with his best friend much to Ruby's joy. Zokie makes someone worthy to be the new ruler before going back to earth with Ruby and her parents.
Would we know if it had a second season order prior to release? If so, would Nick even have to release it? I have no clue what goes on behind the scenes.

Tweenkle would've had legs as a waifu in the old Cinemaphile or even nu/col/ eras, but we are in zombieCinemaphile era and content creation is dead, most of the drawfriends left for greener pastures or other boards long ago. And a bigger problem is the industry itself has been in a major downturn. ZaPR, like so many other recent shows, had great animation but snorefest writing and not many funny jokes, but I thought some of the voice actors (mainly the title characters and Tweenkle) elevated the strikebreaker writing.
Also these shows are all being dumped hard, in some cases borderline clandestinely like this one, and they end up with one season, so who is going to commit to watching really let alone drawing fanart etc if they know the show is dead?

I could see a second season only if it was part of the initial deal, unlike something like Glitch Techs that had a lot of incarnations before the final show it seems the show barely changed from the initial Pitch Bible to the final product, so maybe that could help a bit.

This episode and the one where she gets cancelled for saying she "hates nature" is the main thing that makes me sad the show won't continue. It felt like it was turning into a running theme with Tweenkle that on the rare occasions she's able (or forced) to step outside of her shallow screen persona she really was able to find an appreciation for nature that her permanently online influencer life was distracting her from. This show actually has some nice morals for kids growing up current year.

I honestly wonder why Nick decided to release it like this. All at once, silently, at the tail end of the year. What the hell happened? Whose decision was this? Did they just think it wouldn’t make enough money (i.e. immediately just as popular as SpongeBob, which has only been managed by The Loud House)?
No clue what so ever. You'd think it would be worth at least a weekly half hour for a premier and maybe a rerun or two throughout the week on TV. This would presumably lose them more money than would attempting to let it run it's course wouldn't it? Or was this some weird experimental release to judge if just shock dropping something can work as well?
Maybe the fact that they just threw it out into the world with no fanfare could generate buzz on its own by how blatantly fricked it is.
That's what I've been thinking. That maybe it's some bizarre stunt to try and drum up interest as cheaply as possible. I mean, in a way it's kind of working, right? I can't help but wonder if we would we would have had the multiple threads we had if the show got a more normal weekly new episode or monthly new episode release. That if Ruby didn't get such a rough deal she may have gone unnoticed. Now, I don't know if this gamble will really pay off, but it is something.
I doubt Nick suits have the brainpower to play 2D chess, let alone 5D.

Season 2 prediction:
The first episode will have Ruby and her parents trapped in the castle dungeon, and they must find a way out and save Zokie before he gets executed by King Pootywinkle. Eventually, Ruby manages to get the guards on her side by asking if the king is really a good ruler and pointing out he is a tyrant who only cares about himself, and he never lets anyone archive their dreams and goals. The guards help Ruby and her parents out and make a big rebellion against the king.
The rebellion war turned out to be successful when 100% of the planet's population turned against their king after Ruby convinced them to open their eyes and encouraged to go after their dreams instead of having to obey their awful king's orders.
King Pootywinkle soon finds himself in outer space and screams that Zokie's best friend mange to convince everyone to overthrow him, Meanwhile Everyone wants to make Zokie their new ruler but Zokie politely declines because he would like to go back to his real home - Earth - to hang out with his best friend much to Ruby's joy. Zokie makes someone worthy to be the new ruler before going back to earth with Ruby and her parents.
Would we know if it had a second season order prior to release? If so, would Nick even have to release it? I have no clue what goes on behind the scenes.
Don't count on it, production was in 2022 and I wouldn't be surprised if they released it on New Year's Eve for contract reasons.

While I was initially sure about her design, I quickly grew to like it and her attitude is fantastic and incredibly entertaining, but I imagine for some Tweenkle's design may be too off putting at a first glance for them to give her a chance. I'm going to miss her, Ruby too.
Can't really disagree with that, the style's not for everyone and if it's too big a turn-off there's no real reason why you'd watch it. The animation is genuinely good though regardless of what anyone thinks of the designs or the writing, stills can't really do it justice.
