Pretty much all the cartoon creators from Joe Murray's generation have been open about how they can't get their new ideas greenlit and revival specials of their decades old work is the only thing companies will pay for. I don't think he actually cares if you watch the special or not.

The writing was so bad that Rocko devolves into a complete non-character strawman literally yelling "old thing good new thing bad, DESTROY NEW THING" like for fricks sake. Why would you bring back Rocko and suck the entire life out of it. The trans thing where they actively removed jokes to appeal to GLAAD was only one factor, it was just bad in general.

The joke is that Mr Bighead’s repeated slogan in the Ralph episodes is “I have no son.” The punchline is that his son, Ralph, transitions and ironically the statement takes on new meaning. It was mostly just a funny twist. After everybody accepting Mr. Bighead for his clown thing, and accepting everyone else's weird secret, they turn on Rocko for something innocent.

I thought Static Cling was okay, but disappointing. Not so much because of the trans thing (though
is true, Mr. Bighead transitioning would've been funnier). That didn't bother me much. I just thought the pacing was weird, Static Cling felt like it was too short. I was expecting a big adventure to find Ralph/Rachel or something.
I think that was just about closeted queer characters in general. Lots of shows did gags like that back then because the network wouldnt let them have gay cartoon characters, like in Static Shock.
I think that's based, because queer artists are a lot more talented than most people give them credit for.

It's real and it was mostly bad with a few mildly amusing gags. The tone of the whole thing was way too preachy, basically telling the viewer to let go of the past. Overall, a pretty big letdown.

I've noticed that everywhere I try to watch this online only has spanish rips. I remember only watching this the night it came out through a MEGA link and since then I've never found an English copy. I assume that original rip had Spanish as the first language and it was only uploaded to sites with that main track. Says a lot about how little people care about this special that people couldn't even get the original audio online.

I think that's what really annoys me about the special, it didn't even have the balls to have the whole cast react in a realistic way. It's a sudden, drastic change that people need time to adjust to, especially someone from the 90s.
Heffer didn't have to be an outright bigot, but he could've started off understandably weirded out by the revelation, but not outright hostile like Bighead, only to grow into accepting it. Meanwhile Rocko and Filburt are just sort of neutral since they don'treally give a shit, they just want the show back. But why even have this subplot if its just going to boil down to yet another "Daddy doesn't accept me for who I AM, WAH!" plot?

I think that's a stretch, besides a heifer being a "young, female, domestic bovine that has not produced offspring." And a steer is a "young neutered male cattle primarily raised for beef." It was just a standard case where the obviously adopted character doesn't realize it.

Maybe for the normal show, but it feels like a waste for a reunion special that for all intents and purposes was made as a soft series finale. Compare it to the other reunion specials like Enter the Florpus and The Jungle Movie and it's easily the weakest of the three.

He's taken to the hospital. But he still wants out to compete in the big speedrunning tournament. Mr. Bighead asks Rocko if he'll go on "one last Warthog run" with him. Then Rocko helps bust him out from the hospital, pushing his hospital bed while the Halo theme plays. At one point, Mr. Bighead can shoot milk from his breasts to make the guards slip.
After escaping, Ed (no longer Edna) wins the tournament. He doesn't have much time left. He asks Rocko to finish him off with the ultimate gamer move - the 360 no-scope. Rocko reluctantly replies, 360 no-scoping Mr. Bighead as Cid's theme from FFVII plays. Filbert and Heffer watch as the sunsets, and Mr. Bighead eats the bullet.
"That was a hoot!" says Heffer.

Yea, I hate when this happens. Something new comes out and you can never have threads or conversations about the media the same way again. That's why I hate knowing King of The Hill is getting revived. I'll be positive and say my favorite Rocko joke. It's the mall episode. Heffer and Rocko are driving around in a parking lot. Heffer tells Rocko to follow a guy, under the guide that he's walking to his car. They follow him but the guy gets kind of sketchy eventually trying to shake them.
He eventually confronts them asking why they're following him. He says he was actually a little kid and got lost from his mommy. The implications this kid is now a full grown adult endlessly wandering the parking lot unable to find a way out.
So what does Rachel get to do that Ralph couldn't? Wear dresses and have long hair? What, men can't do those things? I guess not without societal disapproval, but how's it going to get better if instead of fighting for being able to live stylishly, you declare that men actually CAN'T do what you're doing and you're a woman instead?
