My ranking is that they're all kino, but Spiral is probably the worst because Chris Rock is a shitty actor. If I had to tier them this would probably be it for me:
1 > 3 = 4 > X > 2 > 5 = 6 > 7 > Jigsaw > Spiral
I'd recommend just watching them in order of release because they were mostly all released annually and they flow nicely into one another.
4 is absolute shit. Must be your first Saw movie or something and you saw it when you were 12.
4 is fun as hell and the main hook of the film being that it takes place after his death is great.

It's a shallow cheap twist that has zero impact on the twist. Some dummy at the ideas table said what if the movie takes place the same time as 3, but then they didn't do anything with it. The movie could've taken place after 3 and it would literally be the exact same movie, there would be literally no difference.
Detective Strahm vs Hoffman is the best part of 4 and 5. The twist that 4 takes place during the events of 3 is great and Detective Matthews death was too. It's a fun over the top movie, get over yourself.

2nd has best game, 4 5 and 6 also good games. 1 is the definitive version. 3 is hit or miss tbh. the rest meh or idk

When these movies came out i watched 1 and 2 and liked both. I shut 3 off half way through and the series became a meme. I would watch Saw X but I aint payin.

Like others have said, three is utter shit and starts ruining the franchise. Some latter movies can be enjoyed for campiness but they’re not actually good (except maybe 10)

Wonder how 4 would have felt not knowing beforehand that Hoffman was in no risk and gonna Hoff at the end. There was a big gap in between like 3 and 6 where I didn't watch any, so just the movie summaries were spoilers that a guy called Hoffman was working with Jigsaw.
