And frick I forget a ton more. My uncle and I used to watch WW2 movies on the schedule of the actual war. Have a huge DVD pile somewhere.
Battle of Britain and A Bridge Too far come to mind. Both were made in the late 60's/early 70's with plenty of authentic military hardware and respect for the men who fought -- on both sides. They are cinematic gems.
I mean, look at this. LOOK AT IT. Those are all real fricking warbirds. the ones that crash are half-scale models set on fire, yeah, but not the rest.
Battle of Britain gets bogged down by side quests when they're not in the air.
>Those are all real fricking warbirds. the ones that crash are half-scale models set on fire, yeah, but not the rest.
Was it Tora Tora Tora that wrecked a ton of original WW2 planes? One of these movies blew up a whole lot of surplus aircraft during the filming.
>Was it Tora Tora Tora that wrecked a ton of original WW2 planes?
Possibly. They definately used footage from the real Pearl harbor attack tho.

In This Corner of The World anime. It's Japanese homefront during the war. I'd never seen that perspective before. No politics other than war is bad.
The Wind Rises
Allied
I actually haven't seen it. Supposedly it has a more gritty realistic vibe than any other tank movie, even if the actual battles are World of Tanks tier.
Oh yeah, try White Tiger. It's about an immortal Russian tank driver.
It's got some dumb parts like tactics but it's worth a watch
T-34
Fury is good but unrealistic
There's parts that will have you reeling from moronation but they did it to advanced the movie/make it cool
the tank battle scenes are decent, but most of the rest of the movie sucks
the captain
watch this free on youtube, it's loosely based on soviet sniper Lyudmila Pavlichenko:
?feature=shared
If you can get over the lead being a fricking pussy, and skip through the scene with the women in Berlin. It's pretty kino. But picrel is better.
This is the best WWII documentary ever made. Everyone in this thread should add it to their list. The episodes are free on YT, but you can also stream it or torrent it in higher quality. It's all real footage of important people in WWII on both sides and they're not old as frick. Also, Laurence Olivier narrates.

This a movie about the Japanese Unit 731 experimentation on Chinese prisoners. Very haunting movie that's unfairly been painted as horror B-Movie schlock.
Another great movie is Der Wannseakonferenz. A West German 80's film about the raw bureaucracy involved in Nazi Germany about deciding to liquefy the israelites.
OP here I just finished watching T-34, HOLY KINO!!!! Someone who is a historian tell me though how did the T-34 and Panzer really stack up against each other
Wanton
