BTW for the sketch "The Man Who Would Never Be... What They Made Him To Be", there are some good re-edits on youtube, since AS "lost" the recording of John Maus singing Cop Killer, so it was replaced with Hey Moon in the broadcast version, which does change the tone of the sketch.

What is it even about?
A longing for tradition and the desire to satisfy innate needs of family/love/purpose warped by influences of urban life and general cultural degradation etc. Trying to find ways to cope with the pain and ignore your own needs i.e. for the Charls character his fatherly/family provider needs but these coping mechanisms only being temporary so you need to face the problem head-on and maybe cut your losses and just separate yourself from the sickness around you to devise a means of happiness by yourself. At least that's my interpretation. It's an episode showing one particular instance of a person having needs that must be satisfied but not being able to fulfill these needs because of sickness around him. It's generally just a representation of people's frustrations with the world around them and the sense that things are not right or that the way we live is sick IMO

The anime convention video is fairly underrated. The editing isn't that great but it's funny to pause and read every slide of the PowerPoint. Anime culture is more mainstream than it was at the time but the weeb jokes are still accurate.
