Everyone here IS nice. This is basically a social club or fraternity and there’s just a “way” we talk to each other; it’s almost like an accent. Due to its anonymous nature the whole point of this place is to bond with others and phrase things in ways that you would never speak to a stranger on the street about, or at least you can do “real talk” like the kind you would have with a longtime friend where you don’t have to worry about offending them. Calling people “homosexuals” and ridiculing their opinions is just part of the fun here. If you can’t handle that then this just isn’t the place for you. Maybe try a message board or actually join an irl book club or go golfing or whatever.

That's how it use to be. It has gotten a lot more cruel around here. To basically get people to stop posting/voicing their opinion. But I really think it's manufactured.
I grew up that way so it's a noticeable thing. "Don't ask questions", "that idea you just said is moronic & you should be ashamed of yourself" etc etc.
Nah this place was never nice and part of the culture is being blunt and unfiltered, including mocking someone who acts moronic.
I'm not sure how to put it into words but this place did used to have a heart under all that. newbies think of Cinemaphile as just "a site that doesn't ban you for saying Black person" and think the cruelty is the entire point.
