I once used to prefer letterboxd reviews over IMDB. That was completely moronic. There's nothing better than a person casting out their genuine thoughts and feelings on a film, especially if it's a fairly niche one, out onto the wild net in 2003. You already know that they're not trying hard to convey a persona or get some good boy points. It helps that the userbase is noticeably older as well.

Not unlikely that 1/10th of their followers blindly like everything that comes across their feed. I like most of reviews I see on my feed as long as I've actually seen the movie and there isn't a huge disparity between my view and theirs. That said I only follow around 70 people, maybe a few dozen of which actually write reviews and they only write a couple reasonably sized paragraphs at most

That's not what happened. There's a guy in the movie who believes he is communicating with Japanese people by speaking English in a exaggerated comical Japanese accent. It makes no sense and it's like something from Austin Powers. Or it's like something you think of and crack yourself up and shitpost on the internet, but this is an auteur director so he gets to put it in his movie
