The writers are all boomers and gen xers.

In the 2000s, yes. Now the majority of the writers are millennials, look it up.

why do the new episodes feel like they’re being written by out of touch 50 year olds then?

Seth MacFarlane hasn't had a good idea since servicing cheese sandwiches at baskin roberts

          Anonymous

Because Seth let in a bunch of out of touch morons in after leaving the writer’s room.

I don't think Seth cares about the show. He does maybe a few hours of lines and then collects his check from FOX.

typical fundie, off to baskin roberts for a cold meal with his dirty money

Because the elder half of Millennials are out of touch 40 year olds now. Remember, the average millennial was born around 1989 or so.

the baskin roberts meme is painfully unfunny, not even trying to defend seth or anything, but it's just bad, no humor whatsoever.

I don't know if it's because millennials are running it now but it feels like everyone got a million times softer, the edge was completely taken out and all the characters are nicer to each other and the transition gags are gone. It's like they all watched Mr. Enter's videos criticizing the show back in the early 10's for being too mean-spirited.

      Anonymous

Not only that but a lot of the characters were completely rewritten to keep up with modern trends. A good example would be when they turned quagmire into an obnoxious prick or when they do write him as a pervert it usually backfires on him with very little humor added to the mix. Like in the episode where he gets arrested after a girl lies about being 18, or when he tries to frick meg after she turns 18, compare that to the care free/edgy fun humor of the earlier seasons, the difference is completely night and day. Same thing eventually happened to American Dad.
