>exploitation is bad but it would be good if it appeal to my sexuality
You are a hypocrite, no better than Viv and deserve to boil in the same cauldron of hell as her.
>You are a hypocrite
Aren't we all? At least I admit it. >no better than Viv and deserve to boil in the same cauldron of hell as her.
And I'll be fricking succubi and hellhounds, I'll see you there.
Best song is going to depend HEAVILY on taste. There's a lot of songs that are objectively well-composed but in such disparate genres that it's just going to be preference.
Worst song by a mile is Ready for This. It's boring, it's flat, it's lame, it's basically filler.
>Loser, Baby
Don't like how this show thinks now suddenly Husk and Angel are meant to be a pair, but Keith David has great singing voice. Also the message is good as long as you ignore the ship garbage. >Whatever it Takes
Who the frick thought putting that damn song in that episode was a good choice? Whoever did that either was beaten too much or too little.
Viv seems to think so as she and her marketing team are obsessed with Huskerdust and so is the fanbase it seems. Like everyone seems to jump on them already being a well developed couple.
I think the three worst songs are Carmilla's songs with Vaggie and More than Anything. They mainly suck because it feels like they were written without any regard of the actual events happening on screen. Like in Whatever it takes Carmilla sings about wanting to protect her daughters. Okay, you mean those background characters we never even hear speak? Do they even have names? How does her being a mom in Hell even work? And Vaggie's part makes no sense because her problem was not knowing who she was without Charlie but she ends up only seeing herself as her armor anyway. Vaggie is a boring character because of how much she is tied to Charlie and this song only worsens it.
And the Out for Love is Carmilla teaching Vaggie she should fight for love instead of revenge. She didn't need to learn that lesson. She was already fighting for love.
And More than Anything could work if Lucifer and Charlie's relationship wasn't so completely different in episode 5 compared to the pilot. It doesn't make sense they were ever distant.
>Okay, you mean those background characters we never even hear speak?
You can't just blatantly speedwatch and then expect people to take you seriously.
NTA, but a voiced line or two doesn't invalidate his overall point. Carmilla has a ridiculously outsized role in the show's songs relative to her (and her family's) participation in the story outside them.
That depends on what you mean by that. Carmilla’s VA was the original Mimi from Rent which had an absolutely massive cult following at the time and still has a legendary status among some musical theatre buffs, so I’m guessing that that is why she was cast. Since then, though, I only really recognize her from the more recent In The Heights.
But why would she? Their perspectives on the sinner problem are opposites. We saw how Lute reacted to Charlie's proposal before, and how angry she was over one dead Exorcist. Between the two of them, Lute was more extreme than Adam, and then she lost her bro and a bunch of her subordinates in hell. What could Emily say that changes her mind?
>But she could be moronic and double down to lose more.
That's exactly what I expect. Emily's method (really Charlie's) isn't a resounding success either. So far, the Exorcists have decreased Hell's population by thousands (millions?). Charlie's method has so far decreased it by one. And that's not even addressing how Lute despises sinners and doesn't think they deserve a second chance even if redemption is possible.
The only way I can see Lute changing her mind is if someone gave her a compelling reason to start sympathizing with sinners/ex-sinners. Pentious might be a better candidate than Emily, if they ever had any reason to talk to each other.
I wanna know why heaven cares about hells population.

Heaven and Hell's respective power is governed by how many souls are in them. Since most people are sinners, most people wind up in Hell, and Hell's power is constantly growing and immense compared to miniscule heaven, where few people are admitted.

why don't they just make hell infinite like i assumed it would be in mythology
There is a instgram post of her voice actor doing some really powerful heartfelt song I liked to close my eyes and imagine Lute singing. Also she ships her and Adam like Viv and her team does. Makes you wonder.
She'll bang the war drum in heaven while Emily pushes for peace. "War vs redemption song".
End up with grudging friendship just in time for Lute to pull some bullshit and cause Emily to fall. Accompanied by a slightly regretful "Anything for the cause" song.
The artist seems to not speak English very well but what he probably means is that he doesn't want people to monetize his design by selling the doll version, or at least he wants a cut from it.
No because she has those she doesn't look like an angel plus she was genuinely surprised she managed to kill the angel because she was making a last stand to give her daughters time to run.
>best
You Didn’t Know. Starts just okay but when Lute starts singing angrily it really picks up all the way to the end. >worst
Whatever It Takes. I’d say More Than Anything but that song was at least earned. Whatever It Takes is both unearned and not my cup of tea. It expected far greater investment in Carmilla than we had any reason to have with how little she was characterized beforehand. Meanwhile Vaggie’s having an identity crisis but never actually gets her own identity. In fact, she resolves to have even less identity. I actually like Out For Love even though it has the exact same problem. If only the vengeance it mentions had actually been established as part of Vaggie’s character. That could have given her more of her own identity.
Why does Charlie not care about Hellborns? I see people wave their hands and say 'oh they're born in hell and used to it' but... no? Lower class demons are clearly seen chafing under an oppressive, caste based system where they get abused by elder demons with impunity. Also if Hell itself is just... fine to be in... why is reaching heaven itself a big deal anyway? Nothing makes fricking sense. If Hellborn are just soooo alien and aren't subject to the same moral ideals and compass as us lowly mortals, why am I supposed to care when Blitzo huddles alone on his couch? Surely his cognition is so enigmatic and otherworld that he... oh wait no he's just lonely and miserable.
So is Charlie just some upper class snob who doesn't give a rats ass about the poor?
When you think about it, they really make no sense. If the point of actual demons in various faiths and mythologies throughout time is to be the denizens of an underworld who torment and torture the souls of sinners and whatnot... why are they even here if the whole suggestion of HB Sinners is that most of the bad treatment they get in hell comes directly from other sinners? Cycle of abuse and all that jazz. Hellborn are created... just to exist in hell? They're born to be the ultimate losers? What is the point of any of it?
> Also if Hell itself is just... fine to be in... why is reaching heaven itself a big deal anyway?
If the angels didn't do their extermination shit every year, then Charlie wouldn't be pushing for sinners to be redeemed. She wants it to happen mainly because she thinks depopulating hell via her method will save lives.
Then why isn't her focus on trying to find ways for Sinners to sneak outside the pride ring? Underground railroad sort of thing. She specifically thinks they should go to heaven because she agrees with virtues being good, and therefore hell... sucks.
>Then why isn't her focus on trying to find ways for Sinners to sneak outside the pride ring?
Because it's impractical and presumably heaven would just attack multiple rings and hunt down sinners instead of just the one. 16% losses means that unless you're evacuating like 75% of the population of the ring, there's still gonna be plenty of sinners for the exorcists to massacre.
Charlie's original plan was predicated on her understanding of heaven and hell, that sinners by their nature are confined to the ring and that overpopulation is a real thing that has to be dealt with but that she might stop some of the needless death by somehow reducing the number of sinners in hell humanely.
I'm curious about genuine opinions on this show and Helluva Boss, I want to see as many people's opinions on it I can find to know why they're both such massive successes.
I know asking it in the thread where people love it by default will give me a warped view, but can you try to describe to me in an objective manner why you like this and maybe some of HB as well as much as you all do?
personally: >hazbin hotel pilot
didn't love it, didn't particularly hate it either. I liked angel dust. Honestly, I was more excited for a new indie series. >helluva boss pilot
immediately found the entire cast hilarious, even if some of the writing wasn't...great(the kid writing was awful). The idea of a bunch of idiot frickups running a hell-based assassination service is a fascinating prospect. >Helluva boss
It's not the greatest show ever, but I find myself caring a lot more about Blitzo's relationship with his lover more than I normally would. Moxxie is a fun character, Millie has zero depth or development but works as a fun character for the rest to bounce off. Season 2 had a lot of weak episodes, but then they made Fizzarolli a character and he quickly became my favourite in the cast. >Hazbin Hotel
The first 3 episodes were EXACTLY what I was expecting, though they did subvert the character of the main villain. I wasn't expecting him to be the way he was. Episode 4, however, made me feel for characters in a way I wasn't expecting, and from there I was sold on the rest of the series.
I think though, one of the biggest draws is the music. If you like showtunes, if you like musicals, there'll be a lot in both series for you. If you can't stand em...you probably won't like either show. I was a disney kid growing up, so shallow excuses to break into song are my bread and butter and most of the singers are great, especially for Hazbin hotel.
If you're not some perma-mad autismo then it strikes just the right balance of early 2000s edge/cringe. It has a large cast of pretty likeable characters with nice designs, it has shipping autism for shippergays (and in particular, BL for fujoshits and the exact sort of male characters self-insert gays(literal) and women like), it has fun songs, it has powergayging for powergays, it has a lot of questions and background lore stuff for ongoing debates. It's pretty gay which a lot of modern normies and zoomers/alphies are into.
It's decent and fairly consistent quality, and it's big which means it snowballs because you have plenty of people to engage with about it, which is a factor a lot of people don't appreciate in a shows success. Part of what makes massive hit shows so massive (GoT, Stranger Things, Breaking Bad, Lost etc.) is that everyone is watching them so more people want to watch and even after watching you can have lots of lively arguments about dumb shit.

This guy is literally me! I feel like Amazon felt the same way. I thought it was so weird to release 4 episodes at once, but it clicked after finishing the series. The second half is when things absolutely kick off. I have seen people b***h about this which is hilarious. They say the plot moves too fast, but imagine if Viv made S1 like eps 1-3 where not much happens and it's episodic for all 8 eps and then used S2 for the heaven war arc. The show wouldn't be anywhere near as popular and might even go as far as to fail. Viv made the right choice here. It's better to have a fast moving FLCL plot than a slow FOTM anime plot.

If she has any sense she will learn from what happened and listen to Emily.
But why would she? Their perspectives on the sinner problem are opposites. We saw how Lute reacted to Charlie's proposal before, and how angry she was over one dead Exorcist.
