This is entierly accurate tho, he has made three feminist flicks in a row.

it wasn't apparent at the time of that review considering it was the first of his films and the guy was mostly known for stuff like 28 days later.
and I don't even think it's an accurate description of the film even though the director is obviously a flaming man hating gay, in the movie Ava is the manipulative one, the whole test is her using Caleb to get out of her cell, her sexual appeal and affection are all taken into the equation, she's not actually a woman, so in a way whoever wrote that review doesn't treat the film as one about AI, but mostly a vehicle of whatever politics they wish to project on it, they are no different from the men they criticize considering they both fell for the lie that Ava is a woman.
this is the review equivalent of cheering for the b***h in Midsommar as a yes SLAY QUEEN for burning her bf and joining a cult while disregarding that her boyfriend was drugged and raped.

        >it wasn't apparent at the time of that review considering it was the first of his films and the guy was mostly known for stuff like 28 days later.
You're acting like the reviewer cheated by having a better read on the subtext than you.

          >having a better read on the subtext than you
but they have not, I can just as easily point out the exploitative nature of Nathan's use for his robots which is apparent to anyone watching, but calling Caleb a "nice guy" archetype is simply a stretch, nowhere in the film does he show any sense of possessiveness over Ava, nor does he make any explicit move on equating sex with a reward or whatever the usual "nice guys" do to these twitter prostitutes, any normal human being would see in Caleb someone who understands how fricked up of a situation it is that Nathan has created, and they would also get that Caleb would be easy to manipulate by Ava considering she's created to be his exact desire in terms of traits based on his browsing history.
and the funniest part about saying Alex is some feminist flicks master writer is the fact that even actual feminists accused him of being the very same Caleb "nice guy archetype" after his newest film was just a thinly veiled excuse of shitting on men for le toxic masculinity.

The movie perfectly demonstrates how cucked the society is. Make the robots males, and it turns into horror.

Both are correct but stained by their shitty leftist worldview. They’re no different than Christgays calling something Satanic. It’s pretty boring. And both movies suck dick.

No lol. Ex machina was bad. Ruined by the ending, just like annihilation. The only good things garland did was writing dredd, sunshine and 28 days later. And that's where his talents should stay. Behind a camera hid vision is terrible

I mean I don't disagree, it's just become so convoluted at this point with the refraction between the actual ideologies, what the political parties want to do, what the parties say they'll do, and what the actual consequences of the parties' actions are.

even European fascists were against class consciousness, fascism is built around class collaboration instead of class struggle, it doesn't acknowledge there to be a contradiction between the upper and lower class.

Ex Machina is the ultimate midwit Rorschach test. An extremely middling sci-fi movie regurgitating ideas that writers in literature and film have been kicking around and doing more interesting things with since at least the early 1970s. Anyone who praises it as an intelligent or intellectual film is neither of those things themselves.

I hate that movie and I certainly agree with the assessment that too many people pretend to like it for pseud points, but to say that a film has to carry a message or that style itself isn't substance is just a pleb take.
