I haven't been able to re-watch any LoTR since one of my best friends that used to read all the books and put it on during sleepovers in middleschool killed himself when he was 17.
It's honestly amazing hollywood hasn't tried to smear this considering the all white cast, fundamentally western values, and depictions of orcs as lesser creatures with no redeeming qualities.
My birthday is the day Frodo left Bag End to go to Crickhollow. So every year for my birthday I watch the films (extended edition of course) and make a nice supper that I personally feel fits the LOTR theme I guess. Pic related was what I had last year.
These movies were released in theaters around Christmas time, same with DVD. A lot of people have fond memories of watching them around that time, that's why a lot of people would consider them "christmas season" movies
I definitely do. I associate Gollum's song at the end of Two Towers with snow, because when my family and I were leaving the theater, it was snowing. Not enough to be a blizzard or anything, but enough to perfectly dovetail the way you feel when that movie ends on the shot of Mordor.
sounds comfy man. I have memories of seeing the two towers in theater during high school having no clue what it was, being absolutely blown away by it (especially the opening scene) and then getting the DVD of Fellowship for Christmas shortly after. I started fiending to see TT again to see the opening scene, then like 8 months later I went to a LAN tournament and someone had an FTP setup and I downloaded a dvd rip and watched it at 2 am in a giant conference room at a hotel while people were playing counterstike .
I've started doing it once per two years now.
It's losing its magic man.

"No."
This world is making you angry and bitter. Return to poe tay toe.
I watched the extended editions last christmas and was ready to give up half an hour in to ROTK. Think it will be theatrical for me from now on.
This. In a lot of ways the Amazon series has room to improve on the mistakes Peter Jackson and even Tolkien himself made.
Thirteen kids. Sam was one horny hobbit
>one per year
mother fricker this is on weekly at least, extended cuts
Usually around christmas so feels pretty good man
I'm usually still wiping the tears away from Frodo's farewell.

Amateur. I watch this shit every few months, including all the dvd extras on the extended editions.
