Her father was moronic and didn’t know what he was doing (according to the book and film. Not even joking).

No in the film he actively has sex with her

And she didn’t say anything. It’s implied that he had sex with her more than twice since according to her mother “I didn’t take it up the ass (why I didn’t get aids)”

Its literally a composite of a bunch of stories from black girls this is as real as it gets compared to other "based on a true story" type movies.

this movie is so overly dramatic it becomes a comedy, pretty good stuff
I wonder if there's a webm of the mom pushing her and throwing the baby around

People who think being hit over the head with depressive sequences non-stop makes it more "deep" and "human". See: The Whale.

        >this movie is so overly dramatic it becomes a comedy
A lot of it was shot similar to comedy, it had to have been intentional. Someone had a sense of humor making it. The downie kid's name is literally Mongo.

Excellent. The “based on a true story” is bullshit as usual. It’s a bunch of stories rolled into one. Everyone was incredible as far as acting.

Her mother played by MoNique was top level acting.

When this movie came out my parents watched it and and took it seriously. All I have seen is the chicken scene and cannot see how people ever did. Her "Im farting my jeans"look on her face kills me.

Never saw this movie, but my mom was obsessed with Pay it Forward and I had the same opinion of it. It was so goddamn overbearing that it felt like a parody.
