Toy story 5 is definitely not making a billion either, and chances are zootopia 2 won’t aswell, but it won’t bomb, furries are willing to overlook a lot of shit for the sake of getting their fix of cartoon animals, not to mention they’re the wokest audience there is so it being pozzed will most likely be a non-issue for them

You're ignoring the marketing budget and the theater/import cuts. A Pokemon movie is supposed to be a billion lock, no one at Warner Bros signed for the Pokemon license saying "Guys, we might be able to break even if we make a movie about this!"

apart from trailers and general adverts there wasn't any tie-in merch, people just bought regular pokemon shit. so the movie probably didn't spend too much on marketing. also it was enough of a gross that a sequel is in the works. 450 split in two is 225 so that's still a decent chunk of change for the studio.

That’s because the pokemon company is moronic and greenlighted a movie based around a shitty spinoff nobody cared for that they really wanted to be a thing with a charisma void lead as opposed to a more conventional pokemon story centered around a trainer like the ones in the games and anime
If a Zelda movie made 450m it would be a massive disappointment after Mario unless the budget is half as much
Nintendo completely abandoned the old Zelda audience for a new one, it remains to be seen just how much the old Zelda audiences fanaticism has carried over to the new one, seems like a lot of fanaticism still but will it be enough to get them to watch a shitty movie

it's absolutely gonna be based on botw/totk, those are the best selling zelda games in the series and clearly the direction nintendo wants the franchise to move in going forward, not to mention the plethora of new fans the games brought in so yeah it will be breath the movie
