And this all caused their viewership to plummet like crazy, last I saw the main channel averaged around 20k views per video and their letsplay channel averaged 50k, they easily used to 10x that.

I can only speak for my own experience, but I was only in it for the Halo parody. Maybe I grew up, maybe they gave up on it, but it just lost its humor and went way too edgy in the Halo 3 seasons. None of RT's other stuff really entertained me and I never followed the behind-the-scenes drama. They failed because their fanbase checked out and they didn't try to revive it.
