Just finished watching it. He right. Chick isn't a crazy 'le epic stronk women hunter archetype' either... just a girl who went hunting with her dad a few times when she was a kid who has average skill in tracking and a dog to help her sniff things out. She's primarily a medicine lady/herb gatherer like the rest of the women in her tribe which is pretty much the only reason she beats Predator because she figures out a type of herb lowers your body temperature enough so Pred can't see her, at which point anyone can him if they have a gun, even a skinny Latina chick. The worst it ever gets is a scene where she's slashing/stabbing a couple of French settlers with knives and killing them, but those visually appear to be the elderly/frailer once since the strongest ones went off to try and kill Pred, so it's not that far-fetched of a fight tbh

And then at the end when she becomes war chief or whatever and the little girl looks up at her proudly because FINALLY there is a strong female role model for her to look up to.

I enjoyed it, always like watching alien and predator movies. I will say though, I don't understand why the predator didn't know how his own gun worked.
It was also funny that he seemed rather proud of his wolf kill.
Honestly this just it in perspective for me. That bear fight was absolute badass but definitely makes the end dumb. Although you could say he had been weakened a lot from the arrows, axes, and musket ball wounds covering his whole body.
How was it good? A 15 year old girl took down 4 french guys at once and went toe to toe with the predator. All of this after we saw the predator annihilate 10-plus men at the same time. Also, we saw Arnold get absolutely wrecked when toe-to-toe with the predator, he only got extremely lucky with his traps. Also the amount of CG in movies is moronic, truly breaks immersion. The laziness of filmmakers who don't use real animals in their movies and costumes is fricking heartbreaking.

Classic trope of everyone dying in seconds except for the main characters. They already establish that the preds is fast when he kills the rattlesnake but these injuns keep dancing circles around him.
I get that they have to show her way of thinking when fighting, but when you show me how she figures out the medicine that makes her invisible, the way the helmet works, and the way she looked at the same tree stump that saved her makes me instantly know how this fight will go down and how it will end.
The first half was pretty damn great to me, but the second half falls flat.

I enjoyed it, always like watching alien and predator movies. I will say though, I don't understand why the predator didn't know how his own gun worked.
It was also funny that he seemed rather proud of his wolf kill.
Basically it was the first original movie plus some variations but a lot less funny.
It's ok if you haven't anything better to watch.

I'm glad they first showed the alien go full Ultimate Warrior on the grizzly bear just to highlight how nonsensical the ending fight is.

Honestly this just it in perspective for me. That bear fight was absolute badass but definitely makes the end dumb. Although you could say he had been weakened a lot from the arrows, axes, and musket ball wounds covering his whole body.
How was it good? A 15 year old girl took down 4 french guys at once and went toe to toe with the predator. All of this after we saw the predator annihilate 10-plus men at the same time. Also, we saw Arnold get absolutely wrecked when toe-to-toe with the predator, he only got extremely lucky with his traps. Also the amount of CG in movies is moronic, truly breaks immersion. The laziness of filmmakers who don't use real animals in their movies and costumes is fricking heartbreaking.
Why did the girls have so much clothes on and why didn't the guys rape her? Wasn't that the norm back then?

It was enjoyable. Has it moments, but also some big flaws.
Biggest flaw by far was the ending scene. She looks so damn smug and self centered when bringing in the kill to her tribe. Only thing she cared about. Who gives 2 shits her brother and basically all the other hunters died. She's chief of hunt now.
I liked her up until that point, and also her fighting style. But hollywood can try as much as they want, but when I see a 50kg female kick an adult male and they stumble over, it just breaks immersion. Especially when that lightweight female pulls down a predator capable of lifting a bear.
Is the predator moronic? It does know how its own helmet works right? Can't shoot without the helmet, so why even bother pulling out that weapon.
Classic trope of everyone dying in seconds except for the main characters. They already establish that the preds is fast when he kills the rattlesnake but these injuns keep dancing circles around him.
I get that they have to show her way of thinking when fighting, but when you show me how she figures out the medicine that makes her invisible, the way the helmet works, and the way she looked at the same tree stump that saved her makes me instantly know how this fight will go down and how it will end.
The first half was pretty damn great to me, but the second half falls flat.

Yeah, i had that same problem. That being said, they set it the initiation as a big thing for the tribe and i think that expression is meant to be for completing her revenge against the creature. A line about the bravery of her brother would have helped.

Bad ending. I liked Dutch’s ending because his face says it all. ‘I’m done with this shit, I never wanna see anything like that ever again.’
