No Charles is not that dumb.
but his theory was simply preposterous, an insult to the very core of this historical society
>presterous theory
Are we anglos forgetting how in 1066 one norman guy took the crown by killing every other claimant ?
>Charles is not that smart
ftfy
Ah, so the person responsible for this episode set the madman loose
So, is Primal set on an isolated island where people de-evolved into monkey men?
No, the Primal theory is to explain why Spear and Fang wrecked the scorpion vikings even if they have superior numbers, weapons and giant bear mounts.
Nah it's just bad capeshit writing
It's Robert E Howard logic. Conan can fricking wreck civilized people because he's closer to nature, ergo closer to man's "ideal state." Same reason why Spear can do it.
The entire episode had a RE Howard feel to it tbh. While a lot of Primal (and Gendy's work in general) has some obvious REH inspiration, this one in particular was Howardian right down to its themes of civilization vs barbarism and manly "man-of-action" protagonist in Darlington. If you told me this was based on a long lost pulp short story, I would believe you. Easily one of my favorite episodes for that reason alone
Nobody care and no one here but you has read RE Howard, boomer.
Shut the frick up zoomer
I thought the primal theory was a half-assed explanation for why Spear exists. Like, he should have been as advanced as Mira or the Vikings or the Celts but being on that Island with all the dinos and megafauna meant he was living in Primal Instinct mode all his life.
> he should have been as advanced as Mira or the Vikings or the Celts
Not really. He’s a neanderthal, which is literally a different species from those guys.
That's my point. It's like they're trying to say he's not. He's just fat conan, but thanks to living in PI mode he's got everyone convinced he's a neanderthal.

>AND THERE YOU HAVE IT!
I thought it was a strange choice given how focused the series has been so far. I still liked the episode, though.
While I love the episode I can't help but feel some consternation
It'd be excellent bonus content for a full ten episodes of Primal, but taking ten percent of the runtime for the season I can't fault people for being miffed
I was like PogChamp hard ngl
wife and I did a double take
I did a double take after seeing your wife.
let me get the sauce on that towel elf
Kino edit, anon.
Incredibly confused. But the episode was still kino so whatever.
When I saw that tittle card I was sure the story was going to be about the scientist examining a weird fossil they found and trying to rationalized what happened based on the bones while we the audience looked at what really happened with Spear and Fang.
Oh like that Batman episode
There is a Batman Episode like that?
It was a fun episode, but I'm disappointed that this challenges Primal being set in a Conan fantasy world.
why do people assume this isn't just a one off episode? we literally already have the preview for the next episode and it has nothing to do with charles. it's spear, fang, and mira again.
It’s called set up
okay but if you've watched other shows genndy has been a part of, it's not uncommon to have one off episodes that don't really influence the greater narrative. there's no reason to assume we'll see charles again. the episode's thematic ties to the central primal narrative are enough to justify its existence. I'm not saying they won't bring charles and darlington back but I see no reason for them to and I think it's unlikely.
Well Conan's stories take place on earth (following the fall of Atlantis), so no reason that Primal couldn't be that same situation.
Being set in a Conan world already implies it leads towards our world, or at least a pulp version of it. The use of actual old tribes like the picts just reinforced that. Primal is set in our world in the past, just in an impossible fantastical past- just like Conan or Lord of the Rings. You can even put it further- considering Spear seems to be a Neanderthal, and then had to go across the ocean to reach another bit of land with Picts and Vikings, we can assume Primal season 1 happens in fantasy ancient France and season 2 in fantasy ancient UK, which then connects to the latest episode.
I changed my tune rather fast.
The thing is, Primal ALWAYS delivers. There have been times I've had doubts, but those doubts never last long.
We /JOJO/ NOW
It made sense. Intermissions always work best after dark moments. And Gendy does side stories very well. So while it wasn't what I was expecting, I was down for it from the get go.
No, but it would have made the episode less mid.
>people unable to grasp the episode applying Primal's themes of savagery laying within all things, including civilized man, in a different setting
>people think it literally means that the rest of the show is some sort of post apocalypse
>MUH LOOOOOOOOORE
It's a good plebfilter episode. Just like Smiling Friends in Brazil
roight so I haven't and ain't gonna watch that show but I've seen several mentions of it even here
what's the deal with that episode?
The episode takes place entirely in the airport and we don’t actually see them get to Brazil proper. It was an April Fools episode they couldn’t finish in time but chose to release later anyway for fun. Some people felt cheated even though anyone who’s watched Adult Swim long enough knows it’s one of their most time honored gags to have time waster episodes.
But they were in Brazil
>plebfilter
god you guys think the england episode was way smarter than it actually was
Anons are Redditors at heart, desperate to look smart and will use the media they consume to justify it
you are wrong here pal, some anons are just redditors banned for saying "two genders"
Not wrong, we get more users that way.
Nice digits.
I mean it's probably the deepest episode in the show. Not saying it's super hard to grasp stuff but it clearly went over most people's heads.
You're a moron.
Also don't forget how during the episode, characters start with modern weapons(for their time at least) and slowly descent into savagery with the criminal being killed by a stick.
Amazing episode. The criminal using the short as a shield and having funny sound effects took me by suprise.
It's not quite a linear progression though. The first weapon that gets grabbed is a sword rather than something more advanced. And trying to punch the guy comes before bows, spears and sticks.
>The first weapon that gets grabbed is a sword
True, i guess i'm not that right.
>trying to punch the guy comes before bows
He's punching using boxing, which is a modern way of fighting, much less savage and deadly.
>which is a modern way of fighting
Boxing was invented by the Egyptians..
I think Giroud, being the most receptive to Charles' ideas before shit popped off represents the factor of individuals with better survival instincts that nevertheless are unable to deal with the overwhelming force of certain desperate survival situations?
I'd still rate the boxing above the bow because it was highly codified, respectable punching, a sport of sophistication rather than a true weapon (Lunatic seems to be initially just humoring Darlington as he squares up, making a game of it, and it's not that long after he starts swinging back that he gets his hands on Darlington's throat)
I think Giroud simply didn't wasn't lucky, he was able to keep a cool head and immedeately grabbed a weapon, he was just not fast enough to use it.
Did he die? He only got punched once, probably into unconsciousness - but he's gone later on, just disappeared. No blood stains, nothing. We specifically pan across the room and see the body of the other fellow and the display from whence Giroud drew the sword, but the frenchman himself is nowhere to be seen...
I think I know exactly what's going on here... gentlemen.
Maybe he's dead, maybe he isn't. His injury seemed survivable, but sometimes people have bad luck and end up dying in situations that don't look too bad.
The missing body is probably just an animation error. Primal's had those every now and then, and I remember some very noticeable ones from Samurai Jack's final season too.
Could also be the french guy recovered and ran off to get help.
I guess. I assumed animation error mainly because the show's had vanishing characters before.
He was okay though, and would be nice if he survived. He was willing to listen to Charles' theory, and he immediately went for the sword after seeing the lunatic.
That's some fricking strong thatch roofing
It collapses under her just a couple seconds after she stands on it.
The madman threw Darlinton away after he fell unconscious even though he was clearly still alive, same with that other guy he headbut but went straight to Charles to eat him alive, I think he liked his prey to be conscious and feel pain while he killed them.
Watching the episode again and I noticed a cracking sound when the savage punched him. I think his neck was snapped by the force of the punch
Where'd his body go though?
We didn't see how the cook lady died, maybe the savage used his corpse as a bludgeon against her?
Or animation error
Watching the bumper for the Blood Moon episode makes me realize how much more I liked the first season..
it's inevitable when you fill your show with gore and bloody violence. it attracts less intelligent viewers despite the creators for Primal clearly trying to explore something deeper than mindless violence. it's just going over most people's heads
I just thought they were explaining why unga bunga spear lives in a much more advanced world. Basically calling him a throwback as opposed to an ancestor caveman.
I thought Spear and Fang were representations of how man evolves over time to adapt to any obstacles in his way, Spear seems more and more intelligent by the episode, Fang to an extent too.
This show promotes violence and primal, feral behaviour. Therefore it wants people (mostly young men) to be violent, unhinged savages. It wants people to behave like Black folk. In every episode there are scenes of brutal killings. Kill kill kill all over again, can you imagine what happens in young brain exposed only to violence? It becomes violent itself.
STOP WATCHING IT AND STOP PLAYING VIOLENT VIDEO GAMES, BECOME BETTER PERSON.
Here's a reply of pure pity
His post is the very definition of trying too hard.
He's not a tryhard, he's a baiting moron.
You dont deny it, so you are just proving me right. Stop watching violent content.
Does Conan the Barbarian, the ultimate white male power fantasy, also want us to "behave like Black folk"..?
don't bite bad bait
It's not bait, you moronic frick. Im serious.
Then your seriously moronic.
5 years ago I would've thought it was bait. But these days there are so many schizoids lurking around that I'm willing to accept that this person is genuine.
I can't believe I have to add a post script clarifying DON'T RESPOND TO moronic POSTS
I suppose I shouldn't give diseased minds the attention they are seeking
if "behaving like Black folk" you mean killing other Black folk, then YES.(not Op)
>Conan the Barbarian, the ultimate white male power fantasy
Flashy is a coward, though.
I have consumed little but violent media for the past 40 years. Comics, novels, animation, video games. And yet I am perfectly harmless and peaceful. I've never been in a real fight in my life. Even as a child.
Same, I even feel bad killing bugs
Primal Theory is the lowest rated episode of Primal on IMDB by a good margin (river of snakes and night feeder have an 8.2)
>but only 125 ratings!
These episodes usually only get around 200 ratings. This is probably where the average is going to stay.
This confirms my theory that this show will not be widely acclaimed without spear and fang.
it was a good episode tho
The episode concept was good enough for a 90 minutes live action movie. Horror/thriller period piece of the gentlemen vs. the savage criminal. It's some that could easily be fantastic with some good director like Fincher
Honestly the more I think the more I get disgruntled that it'll probably be limited to this one episode placed unfittingly in the middle of the main show rather than getting some dedicated space of its own where it might have been expanded on or joined by other similar premises
It's thematically relevant to Primal as a whole, but it annoys dinogays for intruding on their episodes, and it leaves the gaygents wanting more of that
I would GLADLY watch a full-length movie with this premise.
that's why it has a bad rating.
For that matter Charles also stagnates at the sword level. I guess the episode might have also been saying that not even homie has it in them to go unga far or fast enough when the shit gets bunga, and Darlington was the exceptional survivor of the lot
We can safely assume from Darlington's weapons collection and able he was to use them, that he has seen some shit in his life and is most battle-hardened of the bunch.
Part of me was expecting all their dead pals and even the maniac to rise up and start clapping after Charles said his punchline accompanied by raucous audience applause. Get pranked, Darlington!
I fully expected Charles last remark, but if what you described would happed, i'd kek hard
Yo is brandy on the rocks any good
I've never really gotten the booze with ice thing
For good, the escape from the mutant should have ended with a firearm, but Gendy has his own realism
I want a dino bed so bad bros
I want a Godzilla series made be genndy
I also found another theme
Predator and prey
You can see that the 3 who first leave the room are tall, determined and somewhat ready for violence, while the 2 that remain, the glasses guy and the old guy, are meek and cowardly
Not only that, but before the scene changes you can see the pictures of butterflies and a puppy and a wooden ram's head right after
If you look at it, both of the meek weaklings got fricked up, while only one of the stronger ones ended up getting offed, the french man
I think what its trying to say is that the "predators" amongst us will survive while the "sheep" get culled by violent beasts
What its trying to say is that "primal" men are needed for society, to defend it against the rabid beasts
kinda true, i just hope people who claim that recognise that ultimatly "predators" are worth nothing if they are not defending the world of the "prey"
whithout it they are same as the madman
There's no way someone can give this intense of a Kubrick Stare and still be a normal dude.
I do, when someone expects me to be at their snot-nosed kids’ birthday party on one of the few days I have off.
You're not a normal dude
It’s the normal human reaction. No one wants to go to someone’s kid’s birthday party on a rare day off
Chuck has SEEN SOME SHIT.
>watch anything set in Victorian era england
>immediately want to play Bloodborne again
sigh, damn you Genndy
>i can't play it anymore because i'am from russia
i fricking hate globalists, how the frick it is my fault or my problem that some homosexual nobody elected that lives in 4000 kilometers from me declared a war on someone
If you don't like him, get rid of him
>just overthrow the most powerful person in the world bro
and before someone brings up rotshilds, shwab or xi, none of them have an entire giant, resourse stacked, nuclear superpower under total singular control
You got rid of one Tsar, you can do it again
yeah, becuse he was a pussy and a dumbass, he ran the country into a hole not as a despot but as a moron, and as a moron he is he did almoust nothing to stop the revolution, fricking Lenin lived comfortable under house arrest for god's sake
Putin is immovable, he is KGB, opression and prevention of instability and incursion is his speciality, and the world allowed him to build a fortress in the best country for it stand upon and crash everything than could have risen against him
Hewill lose power only when he dies, and he dies only in nuklear war or becuase of severe sickness
To link this discussion back to the topic at hand, the madman's rampage could arguably be seen as a metaphor for the Russian threat to Europe. A brutal, retrograde man invades a foreign home, and terrorises its meekly civilised inhabitants, taking full advantage of their humanist values by methods such as hostage-taking, and is only defeated when they stoop to his level of 'discourse' and defeating him through ruthless tactics.
give a mandan a bullet west made of people half of whom never wanted to be there and the other is too stupid to understand their situation and the metaphor is complete
Maybe Russia should try going Primal(trademark, rights reserved) on Pootin?
I’m sure there are plenty more powerful men than him, they just are smart enough and have more than enough money to not make themselves publicly known in any way, shape, form, or capacity. But they stay out of the world’s affairs because it either amuses them, or they know getting involved to decrease the Infinite amount of wealth they have.
you are right, but, i said singular, their power is soft, putin says a world and it gets done, and he has this power over a land filled with weapons, resourses and millions of xenophobic citizens
He cant even two weeks.
its to pressure you to stop the invasion
and by you i mean russia
putin dosent even know what "subscribe" means, and he's the only one who has any say in it
westerners are just morons with a constant need for a perudmoral crusade in some general direction
thats what you get for electing an ex kgb populist
rise up gamer
>electing
he was intalled by the dude who used tanks to not get impeached by the rest of the govt
listen man, i know next to jack shit about your frozen soviet hell hole, if u wanna play bloodborne so bad, get a vpn or overthrow the government
>listen man, i know next to jack shit
Yeah, that's american speaking
Economy's are big, interconnected things anon. Putin's not gonna care that he can't get a PS5, but if no ones buying things eventually an economy grinds to a halt. And Putin does care about that, if only because he can no longer fund his war effort.
Also yes it is deliberately attempting to piss you off in an attempt to make you upset at Putin. Putin's not a god, he's in power because lots of people support him and allow him to be in charge. If those people were to turn against him because, say, he can't pay them or their families are starting to starve, then Putin's gonna end up with the Rasputin special.
You happen to be unfortunate collateral damage, which admittedly does suck. Could be worse though, your homeland could be being invaded by some madman powe hungry dictator with dreams of returning to the glory days of Russian power. Man that would be really terrible wouldn't it? Good thing you aren't actively fighting for your right to exist as a nation huh?
he has all the money he needs from oil and gas
Which no one is buying anymore. Europe is in the process of weaning itself off Russian oil and the pipelines needed to sell to China aren't in place yet and won't be for the better part of a decade. Anyone left that's still willing and able to buy from them knows they have Russia over a barrel when it comes to pricing since they just lost/are losing their biggest customer and are gonna demand rock bottom prices that Russia probably can't sustain in the long term.
Did they ever establish what that black murdergoo was that made Spear go Super Sayianderthal?
wirst episode in my opinion
they established impossible odds only to bring an easy solution
I felt like it worked in context though. The whole point was they finally met a greater force than themselves, and Spear had to ultimately go down to their level to win. It even fits with
's take on the latest episode and what it means for framing how the show handles these conflicts. The monkey men were savage, drastically more primal than Spear and Fang, and that combined with numbers gave them a huge advantage by default. Plus violence dopamine, violence always good fun yes.
Aku's jizz
Any anon has a 3x3 or more set of pics from primal, aesthetic wallpapers reasons.
its interesting how hard it is for americans to grasp a concept of an all powerful ruler
but in russia it's a common thing, stalin, ivan the terrible, i guess we have it from asiatic part of our culture
New promo
SHE’S PRIMALING
God DAMN Mira is going to be so hot when she grows her hair out.
>Everyone though Mira was gonna turn Spear
>Opposite happened
Mira is so gonna die
she won't. she's central to spear's development. I mean she might later on in the season but I highly doubt it'll happen anytime soon. not until she helps spear explore his more civilized side
That kid is completely fricked Fang alone would be enough two on one is just a stomp.
Man Spear is a manlet
5’11” vs 6’
>Mira defending Fang
thats dope
>Arrows against the T-Rex again
Stop doing this shit.
How the frick do you miss that many shots to fricking T rex?
That T. rex has a lot of dex points
It was mostly standing still...
No, she's moving the world around the arrows so they miss
>Mira is getting more violent
I'm starting to unironically like Mira. I was fricking terrified that she would be some boring mary sue character that took up more screen time than Spear. Turns out she's just one of the boys.
Chief was holding his own against Spear pretty well. I’m not sure how the son is gonna be able to do anything though. Unless he’s a skilled fighter he’s pretty much dead.
Well he’s decked out in full battle armor, meaning Spear can’t rely on bites or stabbing a to slow him down. Add the fact he can’t really rely on running away here in the ocean makes it a different type of fight. WAY too many people have Primal fights be just about who can win the arm wrestling contest
The viking chief is handing spear his ass
Oh man, they would have been screwed if daddy and lil Caleb were home when they fought the village.
>Armor actually working
Oh frick, first human who isn't just gonna be a complete curbstomp, noice
>all the villagers farmed the iron ingots so chief and son could have armor
Greedy c**ts.
They probably would've stole it from the places they pillaged. The issue is they caught the Vikings sleeping or out hunting. Spear and Fang probably would've had a harder time if they got ht by a full crew of war clad Vikings
stop coping
episode 4 just had bad writing and thats it
spear and fang should have died like at least 10 times
This homie doesn't know the power of going primal.
What do you mean? Primal has regularly had the character shrug off brutal injuries. What do you think being chucked yards away, repeatedly beaten about the head, stabbed, suffocated, bitten, slashed, and the like don't count because well....it just doesn't? Why is it a big deal in this one particular encounter?
I get the feeling Spear's going to win by drowning them...
More Boy Who Smells Good incoming.
homosexual.
Yes.
Sodomite.
Under all of that mail coat and padding? He'd be fricking rank
>Mira's gonna become as unga bunga as Spear
This is why halberds are the best. He coulda poked a big hole in Spear there with that one hit from the blunt top
Can someone draw an image with Darlington looking up at a statue of Spear going "My ancestor..."
Is Charles Darwin about to become a Tumblr sexyman? I am scared.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Wat
I barely saw season 1, wasn't that about a mute monkey man fighting with a trex?
It’s like to set up the reveal this takes place in the future
I think the Primal Theory episode was just its own thing.
Its within the same world, but a different time line.
Anyone got a MEGA for the new episode?
>MEGA
https://mega.nz/file/rOx1VQhD#Qfi3xHvivQs6A2j-fwygZGig800aQQcnQWGgRgfz6MQ
>the kid is fighting fang AND Mira
Fang would be enough to deal with him, this is too much
people already calling it on the kid
i think he is gonna die in the end, but he aint gonna go out like a little b***h, might even kill mira
Fang survived so much punishment in the village, I’d be shocked if the kid could even do a fraction of that
okay maybe wound her then.
hes good with a bow, maybe take an eye out from the main three, or another weakspot.
knowing genddy, the entire armor up scene basically tells me these guys are gonna wreck some shit
>might even kill Mira
Nah, episode descriptions show everyone is fine
Do you think spear and fang would like ice cream?
Probably not, too sweet and too cold. It would be way too alien for their palettes, especially if seasonings were too much for Spear.
Most animals like ice cream, so I'd assume Fear wouldn't mind it, aside from the cold. Spear would love it like most people do, once he also gets used to the cold.
Ah but he's probably very lactose intolerance, so he'd regret it soon after
fang beer bong
I’d love some official primal merch, I’d totally buy a fang plush or figure
But knowing you guys one or more of you would cum on them so maybe that’s for the best
>one or more of you would cum on them
>not 'cum in'
Step your game up
So the kid is definitely going to die, right?
Nah they're gonna realize how foolish they're all being and make peace.
>mira shows up and has like 3 lines of unintelligible "dialogue"
>"SHOW IS RUINED MIRA UNDERMINES THE ENTIRE PREMISE WHY DOES SHE TALK WHAT THE FRICK GENNDY"
>entire episode takes place in 1820s england and has nothing to do with the rest of the show
>"wow genndy is such a genius bravo i hope there are more episodes like this"
there is no saving you people
It’s because she’s a woman, that’s literally it. Ashi PTSD still impacts many anons
And I cant blame them for the Ashi PTSD but so far, SO FAR, so good on Mira for me.
Mira has been great so far. Especially now that she’s creating a tag team with fang
This, I was mostly terrified of an Ashi situation, but so far she seems to be integrated fairly well. I don't want to jinx it though.
>Ashi PTSD
Is this seriously a term? Ashi for the most part was fine considering the pacing of Season 5, the only reason she was such an issue is because the ending of the show was SO dogshit that they had to revise it in the video game as the "true ending" because people hated the fricking anime reference so much
why is she so lanky.
Slave diet
she's a slave you mong
spear has a type
That's the point. Victorian adventurer scientists is so wildy removed from the rest of the show that you can safely ignore it if it's not your cup of tea. But you can't ignore Mira.
To be fair, Mira is literally a main character going on adventures with Spear and Fang at this point. Darlington and Charles and the other scientists are in a singular episode in a time and world far removed from Spear and Fang's adventures.
anyone who hates mira and the new episode clearly has no idea what primal is all about and is just exposing themselves as a brainlet unga bunga moron
we're never going to see them again, mira on the other hand has been force fed to us and is thr driving force behind spear's motivation and eliminated any of fang's. mira is the ficking bane of this season
Fang’s motivation has always been keep herself and Spear alive. This season hasn’t changed that at all.
and that gets muddied by her going on the meeruh quest. now everything she does is an extention of spear. she's a pet
>All they did was fight a new monster every week
and the show was better for it. this plot sucks and both you and the last guy are conveniently ignoring the initial point.
What was Fang's prior motivation? What was Spear's? All they did was fight a new monster every week and surviving. They're still doing that except now there's a plot to follow.
>we're never going to see them again
who ? fang and spear? they're already in the next episode.
>mira on the other hand has been force fed to us
this has to be bait.
Genndy truly buckbroke /copol/
This episode was fun and all but I think I prefer sticking to a few characters for at least a season instead of the Anthology style Genndy's proposing here
Get used to it. That's what Primal is going to be if it survives past 2 seasons.
If successful, would Samurai Jack and Symbionic Titan be retroactively considered Primal seasons?
no?
Why not? How are Jack's and Ilana's world and stories any different from Spear and Fangs?
First explain why they're similar enough to be under the Primal label.
the black goo the monkeys drink could connect the two series
You people need to stop your obsession with the black goo. It wasnt any different than the night feeder or the witches; it was a one off supernatural plot device.
so basically black goo is central to the lore. thanks for agreeing
It must be hard for you having such a reading disability.
Not Titan
They're all basically part of Genndy's universe. The only difference is instead of getting approval for different shows we'll get more under different seasons under the Primal brand. From this point of view, SJ and Titan could easily be different seasons of Primal.
No they’re not. They don’t share any of Primal’s themes and SBT isn’t even referenced like SJ
Genndy already says be might do an alien season of Primal. How would Symbionic Titan be out of place in this series?
Next you'll say Hotel Transylvania and Dexter's Lab is connected
Tone obviously. Even Jack wouldn’t really fit the theme of survival
That's not what I said, I'm saying just because you CAN jam IPs together into a homogenous slop doesn't mean you should.
Last episode says whether or not they should, they're going to.
So you don't have anything other than "Genndy made them". MCU has rotted brain, not everything needs to be shared universe.
>AND THERE YOU HAVE IT!
god i wanna frick her
The only good human fangs are thicc human fangs
The girl does love to eat
>Human.
So now it’s kinda obvious that Mira and fang like each other (clearly not as much as spear and fang do), with Mira and fang working together to fight the Viking kid
I'd be surprised if there wasn't an episode where spear has to choose between fang and mira. which obviously implies friction between mira and fang. Would nicely mirror the episode where spear fights fang's mate
why the frick spear chimped out on it anyway?
It was eating Spear’s new friends.
ah, yes, i forgot
It reminded him that Fang is used goods.
Which would be weird because they’re fighting alongside each other this episode
it's not all that weird. fang represents primal nature. I mean she's literally a fricking dinosaur so it's pretty on the nose. meanwhile mira represents civility. she avoids violence unless necessary and has her own culture, can speak fluently, etc. When fang and spear inevitably go back to mira's homeland, fang will probably do something stupid and get attacked by guards or something.
Whatever happens I hope fang isn’t alone at the end, poor girl doesn’t deserve that
>your babies eaten in front of you
>your partner makes you kill your new bf
>end up alone
fang struggling more than guts
Nah, now they're both even. Spear lost his wife and two kids then Fang lost her two kids and bf
I don't expect much from reddit but man it's just sad seeing how many people simply didn't "get it" after viewing the episode. Why do you think the show is called Primal? Why do you think his name is Spear? Why do you think they even made this episode? They're spelling things out as clear as day and all redditors can say is "wtf where's fang and spear?". genuinely feel sorry for the creators of the show at this point
I like how every complaint about Mira is a hypothetical about things that haven’t happened yet.
>she’ll steal the show from spear and fang!
>she’ll ruin the show with tons of dialogue!
>MUH ASHI
my only probalem is spear not fricking fang
and dont cry "zoophilia" she's a giant lizard and their itellectual abilities are almoust equal
>and dont cry "zoophilia" she's a giant lizard
Anon, I...
lizards are fine, frick you
>and dont cry "zoophilia" she's a giant lizard and their itellectual abilities are almoust equal
No. They're equals in terms of their relationship but Spear is still way smarter than Fang.
slightly
same thing as dating a woman
Have they been showing Spear developing to be more in line with the humans he's now running in to? They showed advanced tool use, smarts to build a boat, hand gestures, some words, faith, etc. but I honestly don't remember how much of that he was doing before.
He built a stretcher
I think Spear is basically as intelligent as any other human, he just doesn't have the knowledge that civilized humans do
I hope spear and fang don’t split at the end. Their ride or die relationship is one of the best parts of the show
I've been wondering about that. Fang represents Spear's ties to his primal nature while Mira represents his ties to his more civilized nature. Just based on what the show seems to be going for either both will die or neither will. If they really do go the whole "spear becomes civilized" route then fang will likely die. I don't see any situation where fang survives but mira doesn't. Wouldn't make any sense.
>fang dies at the end
>last scene is her finding her babies again
I’d cry
okay, what is a realistic way spear can be driven into a t-rex cave?
can they turn Fang into a human with magical shit? they had witches. zombies and it seems that they have satan
So Cinemaphile, which was it?
>a prequel to the main story, hinting that the world ended at some point and has become Hyperborea
or
>Genndy knows this could be the last season so he shoved a pulp horror tribute in for posterity
B
pretty sure it's neither. just seems like a one off episode that highlights a core theme of the show.
Sort of reminds me an episode of mythic quest. The tv show made by rob from Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The episode is separated from the show, they loosely tie it back but for the most part it exists outside the show.
It was a demonstration. The point of the episode was that even civilized people can go primal, which means that the show could work with basically any setting. Genndy showed where he'd like to take the series next. He was probably also testing the waters to see whether people will like this direction or not.
The whole time I'm watching it, I'm wishing Samurai Jack could have had this level of leeway for bloody violence. I'd love a sci-fi episode.
the sci-fi episodes in Samurai Jack were just shitty star wars references though
C. Its a sequel you fricking moron, its a simple cartoon for teenagers, how can the fricking themes evade you that easily?
He wants to turn it into an anthology with a bunch of unrelated stories that all play on the same themes.
being a sientist was cooler back in the day
in fact, i don't know why a man of wealth wouln't be one
you are either a scientist, in the millitary or your life is boring
>An afterlife is confirmed to exist given the first episode, then the Coven episode
I bet those vikings must be pretty pissed off at one another that they couldn't take down one man and his dinosaur.
hey, at least they got to valhalla
They're probably explaining it to Crom as we speak.
I love the gunshot effect. I need an old west episode
So why was Charles such a homosexual and how do I become more like Lord Chadington?
> how do I become more like Lord Chadington?
1) be from a rich and powerful family (if you can’t do this, give up now)
2) take up boxing and get fit
3) travel the world, hunt big game, and collect a frick ton of trophies of a zoological and anthropological nature
4) read a lot of books about history, join a frick ton of elbow rubbing clubs with the social elite
5) make your own little club with your favorite buddies
If it seems like it requires a lot of money, luck, and work, that’s because it does. It should take several decades and millions of dollars.
>1) be from a rich and powerful family (if you can’t do this, give up now)
best life advice ever, unironically
Damn, just saw ep6 preview and the Viking chief is doing great against Spear. So that begs the question, WTF was that village full of weakling Vikings then? You're telling me that only the chief can actually put up a fight against Spear, out of all the Vikings in the village?
>muh dead family rage
seems like a shitty reason for the chieftain to be able to put up a fight against Spear. Even with the chieftain wearing armor, the preview shows that physically, strength for strength, they match. The chieftain's hand to hand skills do damage and he can even throw Spear with one hand. Meanwhile, Spear was ragdolling fricking droves of genetically similar Nords like they were made out of wheat chaff. Did the chieftain really carry his entire weakling village in terms of fighting and physical ability?
I can believe rage being a power-up for Spear, since we know his background and strength feats but you can't just slaughter an entire village of jobbers and expect me to believe that when Jarl Jobber shows up, he is all of a sudden several power tiers stronger than his subjects.
Still luv Primal with all me heart and can't wait for that goddamn episode to show up. I wanna see Spear frick Mira.
Maybe thats the reason why he was the chief
Well maybe Genndy should tell us Spear isn't fighting some normal Swede and he is actually fighting the Dragonborn or my Kingdom of Nords character from Warband
>my Kingdom of Nords character from Warband
based
ahem frick swadians, rhodoks, and especially vaegirs
I was agreeing with you until you said Rhodoks. You got a problem bud? You do realize we're the best spearmen in Calradia. Spear's DNA literally runs through us. I bet you eat datefruits like the little pansy Sarranid you are.
There's a reason Spear dropped his pointy stick for a glorious sword. Rhodoks get the blade.
>y civilians not good as cheify wheify on a boat
They're not recognized as combatants? SPEAR COMMITTED A WAR CRIME. SPEAR IS WANTED BY AN INTERNATIONAL COALITION OF OOGA BOOGA CAVE MEN FOR CRIMES AGAINST UNGA DUNGA.
Spear shouldn't be charged on international waters.
It’s called show don’t tell
NTA. I know the action is pulpy, but in addition to this wounds just disappearing has been throwing me off a bit. Fang gets her calf bit into by a giant axe and brought to a knee, filled with arrows, etc. but it all vanishes at convenience. I genuinely liked Red Mist which but it stands out for this.
I guess we're meant to assume the vikings only caught up to spear months after they left but really it just seems like convenience for the animators
>Fang gets her calf bit into by a giant axe and brought to a knee
I feel like that shot may have been inserted to make the celt chick look a little stronger, seeing as it doesnt jive with the rest of the sequence.
Can't really be doing every other episode as Spear dragging Fang along in a stretcher.
Power of bad writing
Conservation of ninjutsu

>Misread "Rage of the Ape-men" as "Rape of the Ape-Men".
>Aku in the top right of the lower left panel with the shit eating grin.
Made myself chuckle.
That would have been a very different episode
would it?
would it really?
I can't remember what I did with the original file, so I remade it
thanks for reminding me about it

RUN FANG GET OUT OF THERE!
screencap for posterity
With Terror Under the Blood Moon I was hoping they'd lean more into the guitar sounds, it would have made the episode so much more metal than it already is but I can see how it would clash with the usual music
Plague of Madness was the first time in a VERY long time that I actually felt some kind of fear watching a show too, just a fantastic episode
It's an interesting episode, and it gets its point across well. But I struggle to suspend my disbelief that a naked man could measure up to multiple armed men. Savagery and determination are powerful tools, but were they enough to counteract the devastating advantages of technology - would we have ever developed more advanced weaponry to begin with?
>But I struggle to suspend my disbelief that a naked man could measure up to multiple armed men.
And a caveman could never face off against a megalodon with a pet allosaurus. I don't mean to be that guy but...come on.
>allosaurus
Is that what Fang is? I thought she was a spinosaurus.
You thought she was a spinosaurus even though she lacks the thing that gave spinosaurus its name?
Nah, I was shitposting because I thought it was funny that one anon calling Fang an allosaurus. She's obviously a t-rex, so I thought he was joking calling her an allosaurus and I went along with it calling her something else.
1: she’s obviously a T. rex
2: are you fricking moronic?
Clarification here
Ok, nevermind you are based
Tools mean nothing in inept hands tho
N these chaps seemed pretty outta practise, no?
So how is eldarr’s other kid going to die? He isn’t getting out of this with both Fang AND Mira on his ass
I kinda feel bad for him, Fang would have been enough to beat him. However, Mira protecting Fang from the arrows is kino
Either by drowning overboard, eaten/ripped in half by Fang or speared in the face by Mira. Either way it's going to be extremely painful.
He’s a small guy
I like how the pseuds here think they’re smart for understanding the themes of Primal Theory, even though they’re literally told the themes of the episode through dialogue.
You understood some exposition that everyone else did, whoop di do
>You understood some exposition that everyone else did
except most people didn't lmao. based on posts I've seen online most people have been screeching about the new episode because it's "just like so totally out of the blue. just totally out of left field no cap" when in reality it's totally in line with what the show is going for. Which is even more telling considering just as you've stated the show's creators have been really in your face with the themes of the show. The fact most people still don't get it is genuinely sad.
see, that's where you're wrong. people DO get it, it's just the most bog-standard bold-faced "MAN IS PRIMAL" plotline they could have possibly written, in a show with over a dozen other MUCH BETTER episodes covering the exact same themes. it was clumsy and stupid, that's why people don't like it.
if that were the case, most people would be saying that instead of 100 variations of "where's spear" and "I dun geddit". and while the episode is pretty on the nose with the "man is primal stuff" it ties into the larger narrative theme of the main story which is about spear's constant inner struggle between his primitive instincts and his desire to be more civilized and accepted by others.
>larger narrative theme of the main story which is about spear's constant inner struggle between his primitive instincts and his desire to be more civilized and accepted by others
season 2, episode 2 - shadow of fate
again, the rest of the show does this way better without discarding the things people started watching it for to begin with
Not really, Spear is already a caveman. It’s more about the deep dive
>season 2, episode 2 - shadow of fate
what does this mean? is this supposed to be another example? anon the entire show is filled with examples. it's a core theme of the show. I'm fully aware other episodes and scenes touch on the same subjects. of course they do.
>the rest of the show does this way better without discarding the things people started watching it for to begin with
it's a one off filler episode and a test for the future of primal. it's really not that serious dude. it was a good episode
I assume that one is saying how Spear and Fang's nature is hanging over them like a shadow. The episode shows that they're both unsuited for living among advanced people, but are also unable to simply abandon the humanity they have for unthinking wildness (Spear and the village, Fang and the maneater) . So they're fated to an existence alienated from both, probably only able to truly thrive with and understand each other
>Spear and Fang's nature is hanging over them like a shadow
>So they're fated to an existence alienated from both, probably only able to truly thrive with and understand each other
he's literally me...unironically
She’s so cute bros
e-girl fang
stop
stop what?
SPEAR NO
but she didn't say no
Imagine the taste
i tought he will eat the kids and wander off to be the final boss of the season for some reason
What reason would Horn have to leave the unga bunga island?
well i didnt knew about it being just an island at the time
there's no way that thing is just an island, they walked through several different biomes, one of which being snow as far as the eye can see
a continent is just a big island anon
the whole earth is just big-ass islands and a shit ton of water
I especially like how Spear is framed as a villain in the scenes where he slaughters the apemen and when he slaughters the vikings despite being somewhat justified in killing them. Scenes like these just reinforce that core theme well.
So, KissCartoon is forcing me to turn my adblock off, and I ain't gonna do that. Anyone know of better websites?
Just use the mega dipshit
You can literally just ignore the warning and keep watching as normal
Wait nevermind, I read kim instead of kiss at first.
Just use kimcartoon instead, THEN I'm sure you can just ignore the warning.
Kimcartoon is the same issue.
What adblock extension? I use uBlock and last I checked(admitedly quite some time ago) it worked fine
I use Brave.
123tv for when its live. Pretty there's a mega being passed around in the premiere thread, just check the archive.
Fmovies (dot) pub
wcostream, but I just use the mega's in these threads

The promo made it seem like "The Primal Theory" would be a shockfest episode compared to "The Red Mist." Like, I was anticipating graphic stuff that would push the limits of Standards & Practices (like rape or cannibalism), not an out-of-genre episode that wasn't as gory as the previous one.
kek what the frick did he even mean by this? why would you assume this episode would have rape? of all the autistic shit
>No Spear or Fang? I’m not watching this. *skips episode*
>skipping one of the best episodes in the whole show because spear isn't in it
do """""fans""""" really?
>one of the best episodes
Lol, lmao
it really is.
IMDb says it’s the worst :^)
imdb? isn't that site for gays?
>he says on Cinemaphile(nel)
this site is for morons
really scraping the bottom barrel here
>he needs a site to tell him what to think
Lol, lmao
Are Mira and Fang friends now?
I can’t wait to see those Viking fricks die
>nords were the strongest warriors in history!!!
die to a monkey man with a pointy stick
nordbros...
One is going to die very horribly and extremely painfully, the other will become a magma elemental
Witches' Coven will still always be my favorite, but this one comes real close.
What was Cinemaphile reaction to Charles “there you have it” line at the end? Hate I missed the general on Thursday
9/10 posts in the thread were "Let's FRICKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" or some variation of that. it was fun
So is Fang an allosaur or a T-rex?
T-rex, can't you count the fingers?
She’s a Fang
Oh, I just thought of something. You know how Genndy did some stuff with Hotel Transylvania? And in one of the movies, they have to disguise the human as a vampire so the sexy vampire girl’s (now technically a milf) grandfather wouldn’t go off his rocker, and his “disguise name” was something corny like “Count Jonafang”?
Well, what if something like that, but with Fang? Since she’s already named “Fang”. (Just as a stupid sketch or something)
She’s a T. rex
See
Open the door, get on the floor, everybody do the dinosaur!
Requesting Fang dressed like the dinosaur stripper from Rick and Morty.
Do you think this was a jab at the weebs?
Yes. Short dweeb goes for the ninja helmet.
Samurai helmet
Like that one show Genndy did before. Ninja Jake, or something like that.
I think it was just jist he was extremely timid, and wanted more protection.
Uh oh someone was wrong about dinosaurs on the internet
You guys know you can like an episode and still consider it filler, right?
>but muh themes!
Themes that have been done over and over again in this series in much better ways, it’s just this time that you’ve picked up on it because you had it explained to you directly.
>but muh *insert speculation or theory here* so therefore it’s moving the plot forward!
None of the speculation or theories put forward by people that say they prove that Primal Theory isn’t filler have been confirmed. You can’t just slap a fan theory on something to say it’s not filler because of your fan theory.
Primal theory is filler, it’s that simple, it’s enjoyable filler, but filler nonetheless
literally who is saying it isn't filler other than reddit autists? the only reasons the episode exists are because it ties into the main story's themes and because genndy was trying to gauge if people would like primal to become more of an episodic series eventually.
I see people in these very threads say shit like “this is obviously implying the show is set in a post apocalyptic future” and some even say that theory is “confirmed” now, and “this is foreshadowing the Vikings going primal in the next episode” in order to claim it’s not filler.
is there literally any evidence to support spear being in a post apocalyptic world? wouldn't they have seen tons of modern architecture by now? it's a stupid theory
Not to mention that swedish people wouldnt revert to being vikings, or french into gauls, they would devolve into cavemen and then become something entirely new.
I just always assumed it was like samurai jack's world. just a wacky amalgamation of different time periods and cultures
And also why dinosaurs and prehistoric mammals are roaming around alongside legit witches, zombie viruses, and gorilla gladiators.
i have no idea where that theory came from but its also in the comments in next episodes extended preview
>filler
I feel like the connotation for the word "filler" has changed to mean "episode that has no bearing on the overall plot and is ALSO shit", I'd say the most recent episode is a break from the action of the episode before it while reinforcing the central theme of the story, along with building tension for what will happen next to the Caveman Gang.
>intro
wtf, who the frick cares, oh good they are gonna pull a deep lore shit uuugh
>action start

>final part

BUNGA!
>Shadow of Fate is about Spear unwilling to part with Fang even offered a place in a society while Fang sacrifices her mate in order to save Spear from Red’s nature
>Dawn of Man is about Spear looking upon the remainder of a civilization he would have belonged in while meeting the one that destroyed it
>Red Mist is about Spear’s savagery destroying the civilization that challenged him
>Primal Theory is about a civilized man facing a savage threat and embracing Spear’s ways even if he never met him
But how does the Sea of Despair episode fit?
I'm not entirely sure but I think it emphasizes how much spear and fang rely on each other. without spear's smarts, fang would have likely died by now but without fang's strength and size spear also likely would have died. I also like how much sea of despair emphasizes that feeling of alienation Spear feels. He's thrust into the open ocean and can barely find any food. just nothing but emptiness for miles. it mirrors how alone spear must feel since he's seemingly one of the last few of his kind and he's so different from the other hominids he encounters.
>Conan the Barbarian
>Fire and Ice

>Heavy Metal
>Rock & Rule
All movies I've watched that people mentioned in these threads as being similar or possible inspiration for season 2 of Primal.
Besides reading the actual Conan stories, anything else I should add to the list?
Korgoth?
Good one. Saw it on Toonami, but it deserves a rewatch by now.
Genndy made Korgoth too didn't he? I guess Primal is a spiritual successor to it in that case.
apparently he co-directed with aaron springer but it was originally created by aaron
The Northman
>2022
I don't watch movies made after 2016. It always ends up being a waste of time.
>2016
man there was so much good media in 2016 but nowadays it's slim pickings. what happened? was it really all trump's fault?
Blade Runner 2049 (2017) was good. Joker (2019) was pretty good too.
Charles Darwin died in 1882, so who is this guy stealing his theories and name?
He’s just an in-universe equivalent
>I don’t get how anyone could dislike this episode
As someone who didn’t like it, let me explain it to you very thoroughly
>Genndy hyped the shit out of the episode
>vague ass promotional material and synopsis for the episode only added fuel to the speculation and hype
>it doesn’t even deliver on the latter half of the synopsis btw
>it was inserted right after a cliffhanger in the story people come to watch it for
>aside from the violence there aren’t any aspects of Primal that make it unique are there
>the episode is the most cliche slasher movie plot ever
>the themes of the episode are told directly to the audience by a character instead of shown through visual storytelling like every other episode
A lot of people went into this with super high expectations, only to be met with an episode not only unrelated to what they tuned in for, but also was the antithesis of Primal in almost every single way. Do you understand now?
I mean that all makes sense but 90% of that also just seems like you hyped yourself up from external sources and memes. if you just watched the show all by itself the episode really isn't too bad even if it's really on the nose about its themes.
Sounds like you're upset because the episode didn't turn out to be like the version of it you made up in your head. Yet another reason why you should always go in blind while watching a piece of media instead of obsessing over trailers and commetary.
I would like to do that but unfortunately Cinemaphile constantly talks about Primal episode descriptions and promos so I can't avoid it if I want to talk about an episode for more than 12 hours after it airs.
>>the episode is the most cliche slasher movie plot ever
I agree, Spear and Fang weren't even mentioned in this episode. Pretty shit imo.
sorry to be that guy but tonight’s weird “charles darwin vs. cannibal savage” episode of Primal just comes off as uncritical nostalgia for the worst pulp horror tropes of the 1930′s, like they let HP Lovecraft write it from beyond the grave with no irony or gotcha
i been thinking about fang, specifically her stripes and how her neck stripe kinda looks like a choker
Will genndy try to make a reference to Samurai Jack?
He already did.
I'm pretty certain the othet helmet the guy takes had the emblem from Jack's family on it
Similar, but the helmet uses a circle instead of the concave square.
this episode was fine as a one off, but i seriously hope they don't try to use this to explain why Spear is a neanderthal, that would be moronic
so far who was the toughest fight spear and fang ever fought yet?
himself
The witches would have killed Spear and kept Fang as a pet if not for that one witch that set them free
Though speaking of, this episode has reignited a deep longing for an SBT revival
Should I watch Symbiotic Titan or will it just make me sad?
It's...Really different from Primal. You'd need to understand that going in because if you're not on that wavelength the show being largely a high school day in the life of drama will hit you harder than an episode of Primal being set in 1800 England
Also goddamn finding clips of this show is bizarrely difficult
The sword fight is one if the best I' ve seen.
What the frick is this?
A tax write-off.
symbionic titan
Is Charles literally the worst shot of all time? Two fricking guns and he can't hit a target ten feet away that isn't even moving.
What's are the chances we'll get a time skip to WW1/2? They could just handwave spear being longer lived than normal humans or make him into the primalverse equivalent of wolverine.
No.
I want time traveling dinos.
He's already skipped a few thousand years of human development, and they can't do early civilisations forever. I can see them pulling the old 'frozen in a block of ice' thing.
What if a samurai got sent forward in time and had to fight a dino and caveman?
Primal part 3 will feature an aged Spear and his grandson Pike as they travel across Egypt to defeat vampire Charles Darwin.
I'd watch it
Charles Darwins is the KARS of the series and will embody the concept of evolution itself
Fang’s smelly cloaca making juicy braps!
>female in the show
>the trex keeps getting sexualized
>keeps getting sexualized
Because fang is best girl and she has a big butt!
Can't expect Cinemaphile to be well adjusted, half of them are cranking it to children.
Oh, sorry, DRAWINGS of children.
I don’t want to frick children, I just want to put my peanus weenus into fang
What episodes sexualize her? The only thing coming to mind is Mira walking into Fang's ass, and that's obviously not meant to be sexy unless you're a deranged pervert.
He’s talking about us sexualizing her, anon
What if fang chose to become a human and dinosaur hybrid so she could stay with spear?
How long till Spear inevitably fights Cthullu/cosmic horror creature?
I'd love for him to come across the ruins of a cult and have to fight fish people, honestly.
An entire season building on the type of shit we see in the Coven episode would be great.
>Spear and Fang encountering more and more supernatural entities as they go
Would be based
This would be hella cool.
You got lost butt naked in the jungle and encounter them, how do you befriend them bros?
give them drugged fruit and frick fang
I didn't have 'date rape the dinosaur' on my Fanggay bingo
Show me your Fanggay bingo card
I throw them some food.
Does anyone have any background shots that could be used as wallpapers?
ANYBODY has Primal episode 3 for download?
I wanna slap Mira's ass
All of b***hing about Mira would never have happened if she wasn't some ugly, bald, sandcoon.
Bullshit, Ashi was waifu material and look where that went.
As soon as Mira gets hair, Cinemaphile will do a complete 180 on her, she'll get tons of lewds, and everyone will act like they always waifued her.
>covering that tattoo
How the frick am I gonna aim my cumshot without a bullseye?
Skill issue, git gud
Close your eyes....see your mark within your minds eye....then cum.
Why does cumming have to be so much work?
What if Charles cummed
So will Spear and Fang keep progressing to later states of human civilisation like how they went from encountering scavengers in caves to early vikings? How far will it go? Will it stop at 1800s man like we saw here or will they go further?
I think they'll stay Bronze/Iron Age, any more would be kinda much
I would honestly be onboard for them both getting ice block'd and waking up in modern or futuristic times, just to watch them freak the frick out and end up trying to run from the military. Could probably only work if they eventually had some time travel/portal shit happen that sends them back or somewhere else unpredictable. This is all assuming Genndy is as tasteful about it as humanly possible.
>Now the foooool seeks to return to the past and undue the future that is AKU!!!
>....
>Watchaaa!
That just makes me think of that one Drakengard ending and I don't like it
This is likely the last season with Spear and Fang. Unless season 3 ends up being Primal's Halloween 3.
LMAO
Imagine a gag where after the insanity Darlington's wife gets back and is a talking dinosaur, which nobody blinks an eye at
That gave me a bit of a chuckle, ol’ chum!
