Some want you to treat them as men or women, some want you to treat them as a third type of individual. Some treat their gender identities as separate people almost and might use multiple names. If they’re encouraging people to express themselves, why are we being lectured one perfect way to describe someone that they themselves might not even believe in. It’s pretty hypocritical.

I’m sure this is true for some people, I don’t want to make assumptions about everyone. I just know from experience, the two trans people i know irl (a former high school friend and someone I knew in college), both wanted “a new start.” This meant completely ghosting their old friends because the “trauma was too great” or something. I reached out to them and even showed support for their transitioning if it meant they were happy, but it didn’t change that they just wanted to hang out with new people and retroactively label me a bigot for not recognizing signs early. And I’m not even bringing up to them my opinions on hormone drugs or mental health, it’s their lives to live, but it saddens me that they feel they have to completely detach from their former selves. I can’t reminisce about times we spent with each other because they see it as 25 years of living a lie. I have to consider these old friends dead, and they want that to.

I don't think Disney is doing that anymore. They specifically refused to make a sanitized alternate cut of Lightyear or Strange World, even though it meant those movies got pulled out for a theatrical release in multiple countries.
