Prove you're not /misc/ crossboarder and give legitimate criticisms of this show that isn't seething /misc/ shit. I'll start:
>The show focuses too much in boring side characters that adds nothing to the plot; needs to focus more on the main couple--the best part of the show.
UFOs Are A Psyop Shirt $21.68 |
the guel on earth episode was my favorite part of the show, i'd like more grunt action like that
good take, i wish they had continued that for the rest of the show and maybe had him become a terrorist or something
Same
Olcott was amazing and I prefer his interaction with Guel than any student in the series
Kenanji was also good
That was the only good episode of the show and the only time it resembled anything close to war drama.
The show is a boarding school slice-of-life drama with mechs taped on. This is the same formula as Netflix Voltron and the results are just as bad. The characters are all pretty boring and the show tries to be too many things at once and fails at all of them.
It was my favourite too, it also showed some of the potential this AU had.
kinda pathetic the people on Cinemaphile keep saying this shit is filler. this show had been begging to get the earth perspective but some obnoxious c**ts there said 'well Norea and Sophie already told that perspective and it's better' like oh cool we had to rely on these 2 spergs to tell the unbiased perspective on what the Earth is experiencing now'.
don't blame Guel's misfortune adventure on Earth for making the show's pacing so shoddy, blame anyone who had the idea they had to introduce the Eart's pov so late into the anime.
It's actually criminal that Bandai hasn't given us a Prodoros HG kit.
That episode was the point where I thought the show was actually gonna go somewhere and get real. Instead it just up and dropped everything featured in that episode bar Guel's trauma from seeing more people die. Like what was the deal with Olcott character, why did he defect to fight for Earth? They make him seem like this important character then we don't see him again. That episode felt like a spring board into the Earth vs. Spacian side of story, how the league was using the Dawn of Fold/Ochs to combat Benerit as a terrorist proxy.
The show starts out perfectly fine, kids at rich tech school, developing new mobile suit technologies and ideas. Thinking it's all fun and games until they learn of the horrors that their inventions and studying brings, from which they either learn to accept the world the way it is or change it and create character conflict from that. But nope, gotta stop crazy mommy from fricking everyone's life up for her daughter that she didn't care to spend quality time with when she was actually fricking alive.
God I hate how much wasted potential all these modern gundam shows have. It feels like they start with a great premise then completely shit with such piss poor writing. I'm so tired of it.
Except we get more school whenever they did that. This anon
has it right.
Strange pacing, not enough MS battle, Missed opportunity to have Prospera piloting again in the final battle. Elan plot handled very weirdly.
I still enjoy the show though.
Suletta should have kept her hair down also she need could have used some more introspective stuff.
I fricking hate stuttering in fictional characters.
and this b***h gets all up in my gedums with her full Shia shit
You must REALLY hate porky pig then lol
sorta yeah
It didn't focus enough on suletta but the finale wants you to care about her, that's not how it works. I don't know what the frick is bandai/sunrise/sotsu execs thinking by making both mika and suletta secondary characters in their own show. Suletta waking up from her depression is laughable. Sure not everything has to be this dramatic turnover of the history of your life, but she literally just saw Aerial wrecking havoc once and she's cured.
>needs to focus more on the main couple
You're baiting but I unironically agree. The other gundam pilots and the students don't really add anything of value to the story, not even as interesting worldbuilding material or for cool character moments.
Guel's character is VERY all over the place and the staffs were trying too hard to make him look like this super cool gentleman every episode. It's like everyone in the discussion table pitched in multiple cool ideas about him and the main writer accepted everything without thinking much about it.
I'm usually pretty whatever but suletta is probably the first one to actually bother me, it overstayed its welcome
>it's overall too narrow
If anything it's not narrow enough. They wanted to make a very personal story but still insert gundam cliches they never intend to explore.
>tl;dr It's like they made a UC OVA like 0083 or 08th MS into a Gundam tv series, but without making MSG, Zeta, or ZZ first.
This is definitely their intention but like I said, they did it half-assedly. If you wanna break the mold you shouldn't hold back.
WFM looks even more half-assed once you read IBO gekko and realized Miorine is a straight rip off of Liarina (their name even rhymes)
>Miorine is a straight rip off of Liarina
I don't see it at all.
>/misc/ crossboarder
I am from /misc/ and my primary complaint is that it doesn't lean int to the "Utena"-esque premise enough. For at least the middle of the series, it should have been a mecha of the week series where everyone is trying to cuck Suletta. There was nothing remotely as meaningful as Utena's Black Rose arc.
Utena with gundams is a cool concept on paper, but the gundam aspect seems forced.
The overuse of gradients in the style hurts my eyes.
I don't think the show was bad, but it is overall too "narrow" for me.
It really just focuses on the character drama to a fault.
The rest of the world falls into the background and doesn't get properly developed. Any ideas with a larger scope that could've been explored got sidelined for more interpersonal stories. Like Suletta fighting for Agency from her mom or Elan trying to make Norea want to live or Mio and Suletta's romance. All that stuff takes priority over the geopolitical situation, the technological disparity, etc.
In most Gundam shows there's usually a balance between the large thematic ideas about the world and character stuff is woven into that, or serves that.
Like in Gundam 00 Setsuna's and Tieria's arcs aren't just isolated personal journeys, but they tie in pretty heavily into the messages of the setting as well.
G-Witch was based on a Shakespeare play, and as a result it doesn't provide that kind of story.
Instead the smaller scope makes it oddly feel like a side story rather than a mainline Gundam series.
I want to see the version of G-Witch that's the mainline Gundam story. Maybe it should take place at the very start when they invented gund format. Or maybe it can take place after this when Peil(Titans) forms the new status quo with the Space League.
tl;dr It's like they made a UC OVA like 0083 or 08th MS into a Gundam tv series, but without making MSG, Zeta, or ZZ first.
>I don't think the show was bad
It was.
At worst I can say it was underwhelming, but it doesn't have a complete breakdown of the basics the way something like Destiny or Reco do. Or the sloppiness of IBO.
IBO was bad. G-Witch is average.
lol
lmao even
IBO was way more interesting well before it shits the bed, let's not kid ourselves
For a school slice-of-life setting, they barely utilized it. There were perhaps two classes shown, with characters even commenting on Suletta attending them the second time as if none of them had gone in ages. Suletta's Earth dorm is also odd; she focuses on a wish-list of things to do with friends, but it took several months and roughly until episode 10 for her to eat lunch with those friends? Not an exaggeration, you can see the list several times, and then when they eat together it is again used for drama. I can't see these people interacting whether or not robots are involved, so what is the actual setting if the school is just a sidewalk for tomatos and a warehouse with a mech?
No, I don't care what you think, yuri is trash
I'm sorry its your first or maybe even second Gundam show but that's no reason to call others names and try to distract criticism with it. As for my complaints...
>A cast of one note characters with no depth who also face no consequences
>Poor story and setting
>Terrible mecha designs though that isn't G Witchs fault Sunrise has been having trouble making new distinct designs for a while
>IBO tier lack of action and when there is action its underwhelming
>Bad music which is a little surprising for Sunrise
I don't hate your show but it certainly will never get a rewatch once I see how it ends. It's obviously a B or C tier production and they hoped pandering to yuri friends would help keep it alive. I'm sure they will have a "shocking" ending to try and greenlight a movie or something. IBO got a gacha game out of its shocking ending so don't hope for much.
>Terrible mecha designs
Only trash criticism.
>that's no reason to call others names and try to distract criticism with it
OP's calling out a genuinely problematic group that has popped up in this board and is literally asking for anons' (genuine) criticisms about the show.
>OP's calling out a genuinely problematic group that has popped up in this board
No, they're people who have been on the board for ages, its people like the OP who have popped up and caused problems
>and is literally asking for anons' (genuine) criticisms about the show.
No, they're making the same pait post they've been making for months where they ask for "genuine criticism" that they'll ignore and write off when they make the same post next week
>pait post
I meant "bait" I don't even know how that typo happened
Stop replying to bait.
>they're people who have been on the board for ages
Sure anon, the "BlackRock", "Hasbara", "woke" posts and the like are certified /m/ classics and definitely not low quality shitposts made by /misc/ tourists who barely know anything about Gundam in general.
>No, they're making the same pait post they've been making for months where they ask for "genuine criticism" that they'll ignore and write off when they make the same post next week
Post proof or take your meds.
>No, they're people who have been on the board for ages
Horseshit. May I remind you: “RapeApe has an agenda: He wants /misc/ to have an influence on the rest of the site and [its] politics.”
He himself is blatantly disingenuous, play stupid games win stupid prizes
>problematic
>problematic
way to out yourself
First you have to prove you are not a twitter tourist but you already failed.
He already sounds like he is from Cinemaphile so it's a double fail.
It spent enough time on characters within the school to build who they are and the house factions which was fine, really. But spent little to no time on the fleet showing up toward the end. This led to the fleet vs prospera bots being hollow which works fine from prosperas side but fails from the fleet side. You know none of these people or the fleet, you don't care for them, they show up out of nowhere and get defeated in one episode. The calibarn is neat but shows up out of nowhere as another deus ex machina, which chuchu also got with her demi. Lauda goes on a sperg rage for very vapid reasons. The old b***hes from Peil sell out but any disgruntled employee (or ex-employee) could sink peil in 1 email. Quiet Zero is huge but shows up out of nowhere.
This shows colony laser is pulled out of nowhere as well instead of having lead up information (for example have school lessons detailing energy transference to colonies, which was its cover story). As a whole they should have used the classroom settings as a way to flesh out the world more and give you details, even having some level of indoctrination (think starship troopers) and then the earth house could have had contesting points, this should have been how the overarching story of the world was communicated and we also could have got the same character narratives occur simultaneously.
I actually didn't mind the show too much until it approached the end and then it just all fell apart and felt hollow. I was expecting stuff I just pointed out to come together before the end but they dropped the ball. Also, forced references are cringe, should be able to have enough strength for your series to stand alone or have those references feel natural if you require them (the fencing duel being the worst of this).
>the main couple--the best part of the show.
lol, lmao even
Still can't believe these jerks became the better family after everything
Even Vim got redeemed by supplementary material in radio between cours
>Even Vim got redeemed by supplementary material in radio between cours
see, its one thing to have supplementary material come out after a show is over, but a lot of the context in G-Witch that would've lead you to certain conclusions came in the form of outside sources, like the short story prequel (not the animated one) and apparently this radio stuff. Shit should be self-contained within the show for the initial running. Idc about sidestory stuff after, but they need to prioritize putting things in the anime first.
The show doesn't have any notable Peil House members except for Elan 4 and Elan 5. This is notable because Jeturk House, Grassley House, Earth House, and even Burian House all have a bunch of named students. Peil is supposed to be one of the big 3 mobile suit manufacturers, yet their Gundam went unused with a weird gimmick and they did largely nothing later.
From what I saw in season 1, Peil was only used to advance the romance between 2 girls
Eland no.5 only started having his agency from season 2.
Still hate the last minute last boss move from Peil though
Really out of nowhere
Is it considered “seething /misc/shit” if my reason is because most of the characters are one-dimensional stereotypes simply reduced to their minority status like most wokeshit tends to be?
Except Prospera of course, but she got cucked out of her own villain role last episode.
>No pandering wokeshit
>50 full episodes for nicely developed themes, romance, characters, and good pacing
>Easily the two best AUs alongside G-Gundam yet still get shit on by the fandom
APOLOGIZE!
seed good, destiny poop, wing memes
>seed diarrhea, destiny hemorrhoids
FIXED
>nicely developed themes, romance, characters, and good pacing
If it was so good, then why did they have to do a do-over for the finale?
>The show focuses too much in boring side characters that adds nothing to the plot
Mostly this.
Like, who the frick thought
>there's 2 episodes left... it's time to finally give Lauda a line, and have half the episode be dedicated to a feud that at this point adds nothing to the story
>MIND YOU, We also have 1 episode left and an enormous amount of unwrapped up Mio/Suletta/Eri/Delling/Prospera/Noretta business.
I like the show well enough. I even like many of the side characters. But if they were going to do that they should have made a longer series and had some more dedicated arcs, and then built up to a climax better.
Also all the Aerial style MSs look too similar. Lfrith (the main one), Aerial, and Caliban all might as well be the same mech except Caliban has a broom. At least the Jeturk suits maintain a similar styling but actually look distinct.
I don't have any problem with a Mio/Suletta relationship, except I also don't think they spent enough time making it look like they're sort of a couple? I get that they're time strapped but a LITTLE SoL stuff would have gone a long way, especially if it was prior to Mio's keychain stunt.
I constantly get yelled at for being a hetgay because I say that there is like no chance of an on-screen kiss or wedding. I think they're a couple and that's fine, but I still don't think they'll show anything onscreen.
Did I pass the not-a-polgay test? I don't even know what LULZ' criticisms of it would be?
>I don't even know what LULZ' criticisms of it would be?
Too many blacks, gays and fat women.
>it's time to finally give Lauda a line
Were you just half asleep for most of the series?
For as much as core fans of Gwitch praise the central plot for how intricate and subtle it is (it isn't by the way) they seem incredibly bad at reading contemplating on and reading subtext in the periphery
Jeturk mobile suits carried this show
>Jeturk carried this show
Ftfy
Sans Lauda sure
My only complaint about this show is that my favorite MS (Pharact) didn't have enough screentime
>There's a clear lack of travel/world building which other Gundams tend to pride themselves on. For example Compared to Zeta which at least bothers to point out that Kamilles in Hong Kong,Kilamanjaro or Jaburo... Gundam Witchs earth is practically just EARTH.
>Really weird heelturns at the start like Guel telling Suletta to marry him one episode then the next
>The end is DEFINITELY rushed. This statement of mine I think can only be best described without going into an essay by seeing how they just wrap so many problems so quickly
>The fanbase of Miorene and Suletta are some obsessed mofos probably takes their relation ship romanically serious unlike the the actual characters do
In pacing and writing i'm tempted to just generically go "The show isn't Gundam" because it really does remind me in terms of quality and pacing of slop seasonal shows like Valvrave or Guilty Crown. But if I were to tone that back a bit another accusation comes to mind:
G Witch is like a rejected UC Side Story that got repurposed into a AU Gundam series. That's why it's missing all that exposition and is fine trying to run with what I mentioned above.
>Valvrave
funny how that one was also written by Okouchi but he was a madman at the time so it was a fun trainwreck at least
Oh it certainly was and on that note
>quality and pacing of slop seasonal shows like Valvrave or Guilty Crown
Also as harsh as "slop seasonal shows" has i'll stick up with them for a bit and say they actually did have their high point. I don't think G Witch has a high point personally. There's no really fun part to it.
The dawn of fold episode is great, but there's neither a build up or follow up to it. You can change it to a SEED short animation about the south american rebels and it would still be the same.
>probably takes their relation ship romanically serious unlike the the actual characters do
Suletta literally rejected Guel's love confession because of Miorine.
No she didn't and it was literally the third episode
The delays were annoying. Animation isn't consistent, quality drops around the middle part of each season. Needs more episodes. We barely see Suletta. Surprisingly no data/information/lineart about the space ships? Not as crazy for an Okouchi show but we still have that "final episode" so we'll see.
Overall, an "okay" AU show that meets its goal of bringing in new fans I guess? I think I've been spoiled by my favorite Genki entry that everything else just can't compare or just "okay" so I can't judge them fairly. At the end of the day, I've already made my peace with the Gundam franchise that I don't really mind whatever they make next and don't really care about what the other Gundam fans think.
>Surprisingly no data/information/lineart about the space ships?
Par for the course for basically all of the AUs. The only Gundam series that gave a damn about their spaceships are the early UC series, SEED and 00. Everything else is a wasteland.
Even Ptolemy is more like a mobile HQ than the typical white base-esque ships (until S2 at least). Also I like how you forgot AGE.
I didn't. https://e-hentai.org/g/1242722/ca34fbc614/
Ships other than the Diva get a single page in color, not even detailed lineart.
IBO had good info on its ships. I think reco did 2
There's some interesting data on the Halfbeak-class.
>OP makes thread about /misc/ crossboarders
>OP is the /misc/ crossboarder
Thread ignored
both polgays and yurigays need to gtfo. I hope next time they make a better fricking show
The pacing of the show is largely not great.
Everytime you think the plot is gonna ramp up, it puts the breaks on it. With season 1, they where setting up stuff for the second half that made season 1 feel like it is spinning it's wheels, waiting for the cliff hanger of season 1, which again put on the breaks. Season 2 is "Better" with stuff happening, but the fact they still have to rush the ending says enough for me.
Suletta is a lack luster protag at the most and has been outshined by a number of side characters. Her static nature has harmed her in the grand scheme of the show, with her development now being backloaded and rushed. Suletta is much like a Mika without Orga, with a lack of a "Who do you want me to kill, Orga" moment at that.
Prospera's build up is wasted.
Jeturk House best characters in the show.
>Jeturk House best characters in the show.
Based and fujopilled!
>Suletta is much like a Mika
Hold on there, I'm not a Suletta fan but that's a little fricking harsh.
Mike's better since at least he doesn't pretend to be anything other than a meat puppet. He also willing pushed Orga to self destruction unlike Suletta who is a plank of wood until the last 5 episodes
and to be fair, there's much more believable reasons for why Mika is the way he is and why he does what he does and it's set up properly with his relationship to Orga and the rest of Tekkadan
Whether or not it makes him "interesting" is irrelevant, IBO still did a better job of establishing his character than G-Witch did with Suletta
The sudden appearance of the Space Assembly League as a major military power
>the main couple--the best part of the show
go back
>baffling schizophrenic pacing that is either agonisingly slow or too goddamn fast
>majority of the side cast are completely one note and unremarkable outside of basic character traits (I like fortune telling, I like gambling, I’m lazy, I’m nice, etc)
>cool mech designs that appear for like 10 seconds and are never seen again just so we can keep focusing on Aerial
>romance at the core of the show is barely developed on and any scenes where they could’ve expanded on it are used instead as exposition dumps
>the last two episodes in particular have been a total mess in regards to pulling shit out of their asses to solve issues or create tension (oh no, we don’t have any MS’ strong enough to stop QZ! Don’t worry, here’s a super powerful prototype we had lying around. Oh no, we can’t hack into QZ! Don’t worry, that random biometric tomato data was actually a password all along! Look out, here comes a random space laser out of nowhere with zero build up!)
>Main character is a static nobody for a majority of the run and only gets a shred of meaningful development in the final stretch
>character development is about as subtle as a nuclear bomb, to the point where Suletta looks at the camera and goes YES I HAVE CHANGED just to make sure the audience understood that
>numerous examples of dropping all the characters into a room so they can loredump because frick natural storytelling
>characters that no longer serve a purpose just get dumped into a locked room because the staff have no idea what to do with them until they’re needed again
>entire factions just disappearing from the story after they’ve served their purpose (Dawn of Fold being the biggest offender)
>huge events happening only for the fallout to get completely skipped over or happen off screen (What happened after the Slap, aftermath of the Shaddiq duel in S1)
>soundtrack is incredibly dull and repetitive with only one or two actually noteworthy tracks
My biggest issue is that the show utterly fails at any set up.
>Suletta needs a new MS? Introduce Caliban.
>Miorine needs to hack Quiet Zero? Her mom left her password inside a tomato.
>Lauda goes crazy and takes Schwarzette? He's dealt with within five minutes.
>Dawn of Fold sneak into school? They shoot it up very next day.
None of these things are inherently terrible or illogical on their own but because there is no delay between set up and pay off it feels awfully contrived. Low number of episodes could be blamed, but really it is fault of the writers who seem not to think ahead at all.
I can't belive that the same people who made the prologue also made the actual show.
The prologue was downright cyberpunk with transhumanism, corporate politics and so on.
Going from it to teenage bullshit rich kid school drama was so jarring it almost made me drop it after episode 1.
Talk about wasted potential.
That prologue was the biggest bait and hook ever made. You thought you were gonna get a good show for a second there.
I'll admit, I was one of the people who saw the poster for the show and was like "Oh geez this is going to be a giant shit show, this looks like pandering bs, wtf are they doing".
Then I watched the prologue, and it was great! Everyone was hyped about it, even I was optimistic because, clearly, they had good tone and knew what they were doing...
Then the first season came out and it took 2 episodes for me to realize that my initial impressions were entirely on-point.
people who had the idea to introduce the dueling as part of the storytelling need to be kicked out from doing any Gundam anime. like why the frick.
Duels are actually pretty neat idea but they should have handled them differently.
>Either make the whole show some Noble Chivalry Bushidoshit and make the plot revolve around some space feudalism house squabbling (IBO kinda had it but then Tekkadan showed how realistically fragile such system becomes once somebody says 'frick it' and starts fighting for real).
>Have duels be a proper sporting event or even school activity, without having any binding effects or influence on company politics. If they just made it the matter of playground respect it would be more bearable.
Historically aircraft competitions were heavily intertwined with military (Germany was even forbidden from taking part post WW1). I would watch a show that goes for the same vibe with mecha duels, provided they kept the paralel political/military plot firm.
Eh, it felt natural in Danball Senki W (also set in school with duels serving as proxy wars). Hell, they did the harry potter school class better too.
yeah same
Literally the best episode from this series
I thought they would return to this tone at some point but they never did
A shame
A waste
Freaking THIS !!!
Makes me wonder if the wirters had an entire different premise for G-witch, but the executives ( Of Course!) meddled it to the point of desfigurate the story, Ergh !
Kenanji is a strong evidence supporting that.
They clearly set him up as a antagonist/Rival of sorts, and then reduced him to a quai-somic-relief.
He's still competent though
I don't know about him being a rival, not that I think him being as he was is intended from the start, but I can't see him being a rival when clearly the suletta =/= eri thing was always planned
>Kenanji is a strong evidence supporting that.
That's not a good example. The idea to have a prologue episode was a last minute idea is stated in interviews.
I thought the stuff in the prologue was originally going to be in the main series around the halfway mark. Like they'd hint at the backstory and then eventually show it, but they decided to make the backstory into the prologue
that compositing looks so fricking bad
Man, I remember that Prologue like it was yesterday. I came to watch G-Witch for Gundam and cause of Okuchi. I was expecting something decent or something like Valvrape which I haven't even watched I just know of it because of its reputation on Cinemaphile. I had some fun but I probably will never watch it again.
The artstyle was bad, the main lead was uninteresting as hell, the side characters are way too many for the shows' good, the antagonists are uncompelling, the setting is wasted by taking place largely in an academy where nothing much is shown outside of it existing as a backdrop and there were hardly any stakes in the whole matter. I don't even know what the overarching plot or idea was planned but everything got super glossed over into the finale. It's basically a show with no payoff, I don't even understand what was the point of characters like Shaddiq or the conflict on earth/corporate wars if they're not gonna bother fleshing it out even remotely. I wanna say that they needed more episodes but the premise itself was already the worst part of the show easily, so unless someone scrapped the duels, the holder, get a new MC or make her an interesting person I can never see this show having been good.
The pacing has been off since like middle of cour 1
For most of the show it didn't feel like the characters were students, just kids that happened to live in the same space neighborhood. Granted, this is the usual thing for school anime and there have been a few scenes set during lessons recently, but it should been more consistent.
Other than that it's pretty solid overall, though ep 24 will decide whether the pacing went to absolute shit or if it's getting another cour and thus there's space to make it breath a little.
>you must be a /misc/gay if you don't like this show
do Gwitchgays really?
Didn't spend enough time in the first 12 episodes actually setting up it's world and concepts. We still don't actually know what Permet its, what the significance of Permet Score is, what the Earth Sphere political structure is, what the assembly league is, or it's real relationship with the Benereit group.
Lots of fundamental info is just glossed over.
I think they explained Permet once before but episode 15 has Suletta in a classroom getting one of those "AS YOU KNOW" lectures talking about how it's a mineral that enables their incredibly communication and data streaming technology.
I've ventured onto most boards. What kind of crossboarder d'you call that, eh?
I have no significant complaints about WfM and am enjoying it a lot.
Suletta is an underdeveloped character with an arc that is solved instantly with no fuss. She's as much a cardboard cutout as other MCs people claim to be the same, but she is forgiven cause cute girl and yuri. Also, this show needed a longer runtime.
The school setting is kinda bullshit and it really doesn't work unlile stuff like Ecole du Ciel.
Kinda rushed towards the end and some plotlines kinda ground to a halt, especially the shaddiq basement dwellers. Tinfoil hat on, I'm convinced they made some changes to the script after seeing character popularity on social media. The basement dwellers were meant to die for sure but instead got stashed away in the plot closet, Felsi was meant to be an irrelevant side character but they snuck her into the plot after seeing how many fans she had.
no sakuga fights to get excited about. I was expecting some cool fight scenes but everything was just mediocre
even build fighters has a fight scene that was more hype that all the fight scenes in G-Witch
Anon your Schwarzette fight? Your Darilbalde? Your Pharact?
I AM a /misc/ crossboarder but I don't think G-Wtch is particularly woke.
My problems are that the school setting is wildly inappropriate an nonsensical:
>NO security or police force whatever
>the walls can actually be broken through by MS weapons
>waste of energy when they could be using simulation for the exact same result
>Gundams are banned by law on penalty of death except when they're not
>0 scenes of any classes of any kind until season 2
>school uniform shown to be able to change colour, but only ever used for Suletta specifically; there are only two colours; "normal" and "main character"
>MS design is quite bland until season 2 and even then it's leagues below the Gundam standard
>nothing really happens for the first ten episodes straight
>considering how critical the Prologue is, it should have been episode 1
>G-Witch
>Not Woke
What do you call the lesbian main romance, male brocon, all the nigs who are either rich or in high positions and this abomination then?
You're a legit moron honest to God.
Stop replying to bait
>lesbian main romance
yuribait
>male brocon
fujobait
>all the nigs who are either rich or in high positions
all outright villains
>this abomination
comic relief
I get where you're coming from but Gundam has always had some or all of the above; compare G-Witch with modern Pokémon for an example of how it could be SO much worse.
If, however, it ends with full nudity on-screen scissoring with Miorine and Suletta, then I will take it all back.
>yuribait and fujobait
>Not woke
You’re part of the cancer that’s ruining anime
Also since when is Ojelo a villain?
>he thinks yuribait isnt to attract the audience that gets off of it, but for pushing some woke agenda instead
moron
>He thinks its not both
Homosexual shit is still homosexual shit, and you having a fetish for homosexual shit doesn't change that.
oh the irony
Alright, I'll bite even though "MUH /misc/"
>main romance is a drag, which wouldn't be that bad if it wasn't the central focus of the show
>the setting and conflict is barely explored in favor of interpersonal drama. Not inherently bad, but for a new mainline universe in a mega-franchise it comes off as underwhelming.
>it's hard to articulate, but the show's art direction is very "sterile"
>the pacing is wack
>the (incredibly rare) mecha battles are boring cgi lightshows
>it overall feels afraid of committing to being a mecha series, the political/war overtones or the school setting. The subpar yuri romance is the only thing that feels like a constant.
The series could be worse, it could be IBO or Wing. It just feels incredibly bland, and like it's ashamed of being a Gundam series.
>Wing
Wing is free of woke pozzed shit so that automatically makes it better than G-Witch just by default.
>>it's hard to articulate, but the show's art direction is very "sterile"
it feels like it tries too hard to push certain buttons with people and at times it looks like it was drawn by an AI
I feel like the side characters and Miorine get hit the hardest with it, it might be the lack of features on their faces plus the way the show does lighting
idk i dropped it at the first few episodes when it looked like it's going to be a school drama
i wish i had your self-control
why do you value your time and attention so little that you intentionally waste it on something you know isn't good for you?
Shackling the show so strongly to the school was a mistake since it meant they constantly had to come up with poorly written ways to keep certain characters out of action for long periods of time instead of simply being able to say "they were somewhere else"
Guel was probably the only one where his absence felt justified and even then that needed to be clumped together into it's own episode that feels trapped halfway from being a self contained story of his own and being connected to the greater plot
Also was I supposed to care at all for the two fleets of random frickwits who got demolished in the latest episodes?
>Also was I supposed to care at all for the two fleets of random frickwits who got demolished in the latest episodes?
This is one of the complaints I don't get, whenever a fleet gets wiped in Gundam you mostly never actually know who they are, the point of these scenes is the thing that wiped them, not the chucklefricks who died to it.
That’s an issue all in it’s own. How are you supposed to be scared of the big frick off destruction laser if you know the writers won’t have the balls to use it on anyone who actually matters?
It had gundam in its name, so I was going to watch it with an open mind to see what it has to offer like I did with the build series and IBO and many other entries before them. Honestly it's a huge mess of a viewer experience.
>so the story starts off a tragedy and there's gonna be cybernetics and there's a price to pay to pilot their gundams
>ok so we are switching to a tale of the heroin being a victim getting thrashed by her circumstances and corporate schemes every other week
>the bait plot points and cliff hangers are deliberate discussion generator among the fanbase who are into that shit and either resolve themselves or dissipate almost immediately if you don't have to wait a week between episodes
>the show, the promotional materials, the "fans" and chink leakers all TELL you about how these girls are madly in love lesbians, while the show itself SHOWS they are literally together because the system forced them to and they are developing awkward friendships at best
>every now and then there are jarring clips from that brown couch warmer meant to be shared on twitter to generate coomer engagements.
>it took them this fricking long to address the Suletta's mental state?
The show is like a steakhouse attempting to gain a larger customer base by changing 90% of its menu into mediocre salad smoothies, losing and ostracizing steak enjoyers and setting them up to get shit on by the cult that call themselves vegans, except the restaurant couldn't even commit to that and hastily brought their steaks back at the last minute and managed to piss off the vegans too who now latched on and complain they aren't getting enough.
having typed up that analogy it sounds a lot like the typical go woke go broke argument, but that's actually not the case.
The diversity of the side characters weren't a problem, they simply existed without anybody trying to shove their unique identities into anyone's faces.
The yuri or the female protagonist doesn't have to be a detriment to the show, they just did a piss poor job in general like writing the main character like a side character who came off as someone that gas lit herself into her own beliefs.
The school setting was questionable and utilized poorly. It took them 14 episodes to finally have the brewing conflict tear down the peaceful facade at their safe space, and It took them 18 fricking episodes to have an on screen explanation of the prevalence of permet from a teacher in a class room.
The show is paced like a documentary where things happen chronologically full of filler that doesn't contribute to an enjoyable narrative. It makes sense, the same way a documentary would, but that's not what I am here for.
>they simply existed without anybody trying to shove their unique identities into anyone's faces.
>Ojelo being a richgay engineer isn’t “shoving diversity in your face”
>Lauda spending every second of his screentime being a seething brocon and walking gay stereotype isn’t “shoving diversity in your face”
>That fat lard of whale Lilique appearing anywhere on screen and being taken seriously as a character isn’t “shoving diversity in your face.”
Also…
>side characters
Suletta and Miorine are literally the main characters and their moronic gay romance is the focus.
Nah, the yuri in particular was always going to be a detriment because they're always going to feel the need to confirm it with bs like the holder system.
From what I recall the only “identity” they gave their token black character was that he has a gambling problem, lol. Idk how anyone can say the shit is trying to be woke
see
This guy's been trying to force this shit for a bit now, its not even good bait because Ojelo is just a normal guy
He also just so happens to be the richest one in their house and a smartgay engineer.
Also it’s more than just a “token” when there’s tons of glowie nigs.
>Idk how anyone can say the shit is trying to be woke
Pretty much. I presumed that it was before I watched it, but I honestly couldn't tell you the names of ANY black characters or the fat girl. They are simply NOT entities in their own right, they are "that other character in the group". Which is fine.
The show itself doesn't NEED to be woke to be pretty bad, which it is.
>but I honestly couldn't tell you the names of ANY black characters or the fat girl. They are simply NOT entities in their own right, they are "that other character in the group". Which is fine.
And the main lesbian romance? And the male brocon?
None of that is woke unless you're a /misc/tard who barely knows anything about anime.
I do know about anime and I know in most anime brocons tend to be cute female imoutos rather than homosexual homosexuals.
Lauda's not even actually gay, Petra's his love interest.
>Lauda
>Not gay
anon pls, explain the Drama CD and his seething over Suletta and Miorine then?
NTA but he likes Petra. The reason he lost it and wants to kill her is because he blames it over what happened to Petra at the school attack.
Then why not blame either Shaddiq or Guel who were far more at fault for Petra’s condition then Miorine ever was?
The Gundaminfo Livestream actually confirmed that his grudge against Miorine was rooted in jealousy because, and I quote “he wanted Guel to cling onto him instead of her.”
He's just not very smart. He's a brocon, but he's not gay.
Also, Scwarzette is very, very sexy and fricking wasted on him.
>He's a brocon, but he's not gay.
Isn’t that contradictory? Unless you mean “gay only for his brother but not gay in general?”
Having a complex doesn't necessarily mean you are sexually attracted to them.
>Having a complex doesn't necessarily mean you are sexually attracted to them.
It does in anime terms.
Wrong.
It means he loves his brother with brotherly love, Guel is obviously very important to him, that was the purpose of the flashback scene. And yes, he's not into other dudes, he's straight, Petra is his gf.
>It means he loves his brother with brotherly love
That's the problem, anon is so knee-deep in /misc/ bullshit that he's practically a redneck, and those guys can't see their siblings without a lustful look in their eyes.
Whenever I venture into G-Woke threads I always find tons of disgusting homos and fujos shipping them though.
Obviously there’s something there because you don’t see them shipping Guel/Shaddiq nearly half as much.
Why are you shipping Guel and Lauda though? Are you gay or something?
Not necessarily /misc/ but deep into shippers rabbithole.
Just like how those insecure otaku only see human affectionate interraction as sexually motivated romance.
Schwarzette is bland and a poor man's Gaeon, which is a true man's suit.
Anon, I hate homosexuals and yurigays and yaoigays, and your reading of the situation is every single bit as bad as those morons.
Yeah, Lauda has a girlfriend and he's the single gayest character in the cast. He comes off a incestuous homo.
Where's the scene where he's going around with his girlfriend? Why not have him sit by her bedside, his head in his hands, before he swears vengeance on the people who did this to her?
...Did the characters even have a proper conversation about how they're dating?
I have no problems knowing the characters names, but even then NOT knowing their names isn't even a problem, the earth house kids majority function the same as ship crew, and it is not uncommon for people to forget their names.
Anon I've never watched any Build series or AGE, but seen every other Gundam.
Are either of those worth watching?
Sure, Build is worth watching just for Gundam fanservice.
AGE is ultimately disappointing as frick, but not quite as bad as, let's say, SEED Destiny. The first two parts are alright, but then the third gen is shit.
I'd say, you should give them a try at least, especially if you watcher everything else.
Thanks, I'll try AGE but I'm not that interested in Build Fighters, I'd rather just frick around with my own kits.
Destiny gave me actual physical pain to watch, but base SEED was actually pretty great.
I can never bring myself continuing Destiny, yeah it kinda coincides with my declining enjoyment of watching anime in general, but I legit fill my head with the thought 'that's it, when I have some vacant time, i'll continue Destiny' but it just never happened. And i'm still in ep 18 for now, despite starting it back in January this year.
yeah i deleted the earlier reply due to mistagging
There’s no point continuing. Destiny stops being entertaining around episode 25 and then becomes unwatchable after the Impulse vs Freedom
Build is a mixed bag. The original is great fun, lot of charm and heart in it and it meshes the Gunpla building/tournament stuff we’ll. Try is basically just generic shonenshit with the Gunpla element shoved into the background. Divers is a disaster made for babbies but it leads into Re-Rise which is actually good and has a proper, dramatic story. Really you’re only watching these shows for the fanservice and references so it doesn’t particularly matter.
AGE is a weird mess but I do kinda like it. Starts off iffy, gets real good in the middle then crashes into a brickwall in the final stretch. Designs are cool though and Flit and Asemu are genuinely good characters, it’s just the pacing is a total fricking disaster that ends up seriously affecting the quality of the show
I don’t know what anyone expected. Okouchi has been a downward spiral since at the very latest Valrave. Crybaby should’ve been an indicator that any trust in him was misplaced and that he needs to retire or just become a novelist
No, show is gay and moronic. Just like you.
I'm not a /misc/ crossboarder but I love Hitler and I think the Witch haters are Black folk that need the rope, annoying pavement apes.
I don't go to /misc/ and I love Hitler, and I think people who like Witch are homosexuals.
You don't. Heil Hitler
Your honest opinion/m/
How long will G Witch be relevant? I think it’ll be forgotten about in about a year after it airs when some new show of the week pops up.
Honestly, I feel like its similar to age, where it'll be mostly forgotten. I don't think that there's any interesting worldbuilding to expand on as there was in IBO's case, so I can't really see it getting an expansion.
I have no idea, but I can only hope
Modern audiences (zoomers) don't really get attached to things they way older audiences did. Partly because they have so much now that they can freely access, so they are fan bases who only really exist in the moment but need to move on to next thing when that ends. Thats basically why you'll see people who like Witch mention moving on from Lycoris that ended a bit before Witch started.
The people who are only watching for the yuri will forget about it within a month or two until their next flavour of month tripe comes out. The Gundam fans that actually like it will never get over it and it’ll be another IBO situation where they never shut the frick up about it being the greatest of all time because it was the first one they ever saw.
I think it'll be brought up as a "whataboutism" for years to come, but in terms of relevance will disappear almost immediately; my reasoning is that IBO is barely on life support and G-Reco is nonexistent despite both of them having really incredible and innovative mecha design (you know, what the entire franchise is about?)
G-Witch seems to be trying to say something like "look we can have female protagonists now too!" or "wow this is like Shakespeare" but Gundam was never about that, it's about the fricking MECHA and the mechanics/philosopies of war.
Idk, I wouldn't say IBO is "on life support". I mean, people might not like it here, but it got a game, its getting new designs and worldbuilding. Which is more than I can say for a lot of shows.
>that IBO is barely on life support and
This is false
>G-Reco is nonexistent
This is because G Reco is barely in anything and continues to be because it didn't perform well commercially, it didn't even get stuff like an actual side story and its msv only had like a handful of designs.
I don't think this show will be like G Reco, for starters its already getting side story stuff and Bandai will milk it because it sells well enough too.
did g reco not get a sidestory manga? Ik witch has novelization too, but is that really important as far as merchandising/support?
No, there is no side story for G Reco, and yes it really is important, how are you expected to keep people's interest in an AU if all you have is a single show? 00+SEED has a bunch of MSV shit and manga, IBO has manga, and even that mobile game now. Said side story shit and manga(if it does well) also translates to new gunpla and being featured in games and shit, it all lines up to keeping people's interests
This really doesn't change the fact that G Reco content-wise is much lower than other AUs, the movies themselves hardly translate to new content.
>IBO has manga
No, IBO HAD a manga. That was canned.
Attempting to continue a universe is one thing, but that doesn't mean all are successful. Theres a reason CE manga eventually all just come back to Lowe, Gai and Canard.
it was canned because the writer did something else that was a surprise hit, not for lack of sales.
You both made the mistake of thinking G-Reco is an AU when it's later than late UC. It's just another entry into the UC timeline, so late into the timeline that it's post UC.
It's more or less AU, same as Turn A. The character design, aesthetic style, setting and central conflict are completely different, so the only thinking linking it to UC is word of god and some on-brand MS they slapped into a factory in one episode.
You're actually a speedwatcher that's coping right now. UC, the Universal Century, is brought up multiple times throughout G-Reco. The entire taboo is built off of the end of UC being a frick huge war that ended horrifically. The Rose of Hermes specifically has data from UC, and the G-IT Labs whole thing is rebuilding suits and technologies from UC before it ended.
>You're actually a speedwatcher that's coping right now.
Careful now. Ad hom is a sign that you're losing.
>The entire taboo is built off of the end of UC being a frick huge war that ended horrifically.
I thought the taboo was the "kuntala" thing where humans were eaten by higher class humans due to shortages caused by some unspecified war. None of this is mentioned in any UC show.
>The Rose of Hermes specifically has data from UC, and the G-IT Labs whole thing is rebuilding suits and technologies from UC before it ended.
Which endgame G-Reco suits resemble stuff from UC? There's
>Z-Gocky
>...
>...uh...
Like, calm down. What's it matter to you if I count G-Reco as an AU? My category is if it has a different era marker, it's an AU. You are free to disagree with me, you are free to think I am wrong. But calling me names like a big baby isn't going to change my mind, or the fact that Sunrise treat it like an AU in every respect anyway. As stated before, it's even been confirmed that it was written to NOT be a Gundam show by Tomino himself.
The Kuntala thing was a slur used to discriminate against people of that heritage.
The actual Taboo was the tech of UC that was used to cause the catastrophic war that lead to Turn A. Stuff like Moonlight Butterfly.
I didn't make a mistake, I call it that for simplicity, not that it matters when even UC entries have side story and MSV dedicated to it.
Oh yeah, also, is novelization really new content? Like, I'm one of the stupid frickers thats read the 0079 novelization, but thats because my mom bought it for me because she's moronic. If she hadn't I'd never have gone out and bought it myself. Its more like a alternative to the show, not a supplement
that depends entirely on what the novelization is, apparently, the witch novel does actually have new content and expanded details for even the prologue, new characters and shit but I have no plans on reading it.
I mean there are different scenes in the 0079 novelization, but idk if I'd say more. But 0079 was also twice the length of WFM. So maybe the Novelization of witch would be longer. But again, I feel like its a replacement for the show, not a supplement.
Well that's why I said it depends, the 0079 novels end up telling a different story, rather than supplementing the anime's scenes with new content
The only new content in the books is a non canon bonus chapter where we find our Miorine is 100% a dyke and didn’t just fall for Suletta anyway
It’s good to get more insight into characters thoughts if it’s written well
>I wouldn't say IBO is "on life support".
Okay, that was probably a bit hyperbolic to say.
But it's "big side content" is a mobile game, and its manga just rehash the same stuff from the show without adding much like Astray did, for example. It's a glorified MSV.
Yeah rehashing the exact same content as a series instead of an OVA or movies instead of a series doesn't equate to "new content" imo
I mean I LIKE both IBO and G-Reco as I said, I love those suit designs, but there's no new content for me to engage with
Gekko had an entirely new cast.
Well that's more of a time will tell thing, I mean Lfrith Jiu and Vanadis Heart seems to be doing alright so far in popularity, for starters people actually talk about it, not that I think it will be like Astray that is
And what did it add with said new cast?
It's just more "young dudes unearth ancient Gundam with demon name which uses various upgrades to beat other guys"
It didn't expand anything, it didn't change anything. We saw some new Gundams and new Valkyrja, that's it. That's fine, but it's a glorified MSV.
> its manga just rehash the same stuff from the show without adding much
I'm not sure what you mean by this. Side stories generally intersect with the main story a bit, but Astray for example covers the events of the south american war, all the stuff with the junk guild, etc. Are there any sidestory manga that dont "rehash the same stuff from the show"
Perhaps you misread; I was saying Astray added a lot to the world of SEED, but IBO's manga hasn't done the same.
ahh I see. I mean, in that case, I'd argue that IBO's manga didn't last long enough to do so. The game has added quite a bit, from other planets, to more calamity war bits, etc.
How are you people this moronic? G-Reco literally just finished its 5 movie run in 2022. The final BDs came out at the beginning of 2023.
wrong joker. if it didn't have gundam name on /m/ would 100% forgotten about it, who talk about Sakugan?, no one, g-witch will always be talk about because it's a gundam show
>who talk about Sakugan
Me.
why?
Sakugan is literally the worst show i've ever watched. Worse than WFM.
the only thing /m/ will remember are the mecha
There are barely any good suits though.
I mean, what icons does it even have? Practically all of its symbols are just endlessly recycled from previous gundams without adding anything of it's own to the pile (something even the most derivative gundam like X and post S1 00 managed to do)
The kind of people who seem to really like it are very fickle, so not too long unfortunately.
I personally would worried about what Investors/Bandai see with WtM oh and Yuri-gay bragging about sales
Less than a year, people that are already into m show will probably talk about it but the tourist will forget about gwitch pretty fast
The yuri fanbase will move to citrus3 or licoris recoil2 or whatever
Even the women that I saw were really into it when the show first started don't even bring it up in conversation now. Unless it blows everyone's mind in this final stretch I think G Witch's popularity peak will be the tomato hand
Kinda depends, I think.
I'm certain that Bandai will try and keep Ad Stella going, I think a sequel series is inevitable. Fricking IBO still gets content, after all.
The thing is, unless we get more Utena-lite I don't see a huge amount of the yurigay audience sticking around by the time the next mainstream yurigay anime comes around.
It happened with Higurashi and how less /u/gays talk about it by the day, and a mecha series has even less chance of keeping them around imo.
You will take your smartphone spin off and like it.
The ONLY way to get through Destiny is to blast through all at once. You need to get to the point where you ENJOY your anger.
People have exposed most points but I'll give my two cents.
The battles look like shit. The mecha animation is awful and the ugly gradients and overall the rendering they use on the suits make them look like blobs of soft plastic. The camera work is ass and most of the time it's basically lasertag with explosions and you can barely make out the choreography or even what's going on. The last three battles (Caliburn vs Aerial, Darilbalde vs Schwarzette, Darilbalde vs Michaelis and the Heindrees) where almost impossible to visually understand to me because the anime things that just making the mechs zip around like drones with a bunch of lights and frantic camera movement makes for an engaging and "sakuga" battle but in reality it felt like I was watching a bunch of fireflies flying at random directions.
And hell, some of the battles showcase more the pilots than the suits themselves. Don't even get me started on the Aerial battles where all it does is either stand still or slowly hover around while the bits do all the job. Just bullshit battle choreography.
Personally I wish it had wienerpit cut-ins
wienerpit cut-ins would be nice. The problem is that Gwitch either shows you the drone racing that it thinks is the battle, or it shows you the most dull wienerpit scene ever. No inbetween.
At this point I fricking hate bits and funnels
They were meant to be some OP shit only literal space psychics could use, now every single suit, even NON-Gundams have them so now the only fricking suit that fights in melee (all the Jeturk ones) end up looking the coolest
The problem with the funnels and bits in Witch is that they are just there to be OP and flashy, which doesn't work well when its the protagonist.
Stuff like it should be reserved for endgame or enemies, because eventually being OP just gets boring. Not helped by awful fight choreography in this show.
I'll never understand why they thought it was a good idea to give the suits one of the most OP weapon types possible with such little drawback and at early game too. Funnel/bits were meant to be only usable by literal superhumans or in 00's case with the aid of artificial intelligence (Lyle and the two Haro units he needed to pilot the Zabanya) because no regular human should be able to both pilot the suit and also handle remote weapons at the same time.
"But in Gwitch only Gundams can control funnels and you can die!" except Schwarzette and Pharact both have funnel units, and both suits were able to use their funnels below Permet level 5 aka the instadeath level. Meaning that theoretically any healthy and prepared human being could control funnels on a Gundam. This is just extreme levels of fricking bullshit.
I'll be honest, the permet score level thing being lethal feels moronic. Not because the risk feels forced(which it also does), but that it feels like an excuse to limit funnels to people who weren't Suletta so she could be op.
That's the problem, they didn't even limit funnels to Suletta to make her OP because as we could see in the last episode, Lauda could use them and he didn't die. The first Elan was also able to use Pharact's funnels without dying because of it. The whole "ooooh Permet can kill youuuuu!!" thing is honestly just a plot device that works when the writers want it to work. Sophie died from Permet, but she had gone around score 6 or so and still managed to survive for a while after it.
Permet kills if the writers want it to kill. And apparently funnels don't need much Permet at all for them to be used. Meaning anyone who's young and healthy could just use funnels with almost no significant drawbacks.
The story never really established that using funnels was dangerous, it was pushing the score past that point. Even in the Prologue the Lfriths that was defending the base used their funnels no problem, its when they pushed it past that point is when the pilots struggled. I'm also pretty sure Schwarzette is using ai support on top of GUND since it was supposed to go into the drone business as a gundam
but the problem isn't exactly that. the problems being discussed are:
>funnels should be an endgame type of weapon because they're overpowered but in gwitch technically anyone can use them without any big drawbacks
>the permet lethality is at first stated to be this real and extremely dangerous risk and that piloting a gundam is almost a guaranteed death sentence since ericht's father died mere seconds after engaging on permet level 4, however the anime has shown us that in reality it's extremely relative and that there's no real benefit to using permet scores above 5 because gundams already function well enough at 4 and if you're a young and prepared pilot you don't die from score 4 at all.
basically funnels are basically free use in gwitch without drawbacks and if you're young and healthy you don't die from permet exposure because there's no real reason to use permet above 5. aerial only used permet 6~8 because it needed to do its data storm shenanigans for quiet zero but pharact and scharzette were fuctioning quite well at 4-5, so the permet lethality risk just feels artificial.
This is an interesting conversation, but I don't think its safe to use permet 1-3, just that the risk is smaller, didn't they tell Elan 4 that if he piloted the Gundam again at all he'd die? I think its more that being young and healthy can allow you to use it longer, but eventually your body won't be able to handle the strain.
The risk is artificial though, there's no way to make something like this work unless you're willing to kill off cast members to demonstrate this risk, this is the kind of thing that works better in certain settings or in a videogame where that % chance is a more present thing.
It is also interesting to think about the benefits of using permet score, I mean everytime its been used to a higher level is when the Gundam themselves are being pushed by suits which means you need to increase the score to match the performance of higher end MS, in some cases not even ace suits, if you don't plan on using higher scores to fit the situation then why bother using a Gundam at all? Darilbalde can use bits just as well(arguably better) than someone at low score because of the AI
Right now it's what I believe, yes. Nadim Samaya died from score 4, but considering how Elan, Sophie and Lauda have been faring I can only assume he died because he was an adult...which is still odd because while Nadim doesn't have an official age he didn't seem like he could've been older than mid-30's, which is still an age range considered to be of a healthy and strong adult human.
In the end it boils down to the anime refusing to detail more on how Permet ultimately works and exactly how it affects the human body. From the caracters' reactions and Sophie's comments on it, it seems to speed up one's heart rate and possibly raise the pilot's blood pressure which could prove to be a risk for older characters, but once more a person on their 30's should be still considered healthy. Well, I suppose Permet can only be "safely" used by teenagers from what the anime seems to show.
>didn't they tell Elan 4 that if he piloted the Gundam again at all he'd die?
>[...] but eventually your body won't be able to handle the strain.
This is another thing I often think about, Permet's effect on the body from long term usage. We haven't seen any character crippled by Permet (though Cardo Nabo mentioned it can cripple humans) so I wonder if PErmet is a silent killer and it can just cause the pilot to eventually suffer a heart attack or a brain hemorrhage of sorts.
The introdution of Darilbalde's AI also put the whole Gundam thing into question. It seemed to be using its shield and sword bits just fine without Permet. I don't want to boil it down to just some insult but it does seem like the team only came up with "Permet is good but it can kill!" so the story had a resouce to use when it wanted to raise the stakes and threaten characters' lives when it felt like it wanted to.
>The risk is artificial though
This is my biggest issue with the writing around permet scores. Its a risk that doesn't feel naturally written into the story, and only feels like it exists to kill off characters suddenly and not because the writers want there to be a risk.
>but that it feels like an excuse to limit funnels to people
I don't really know if this is true, considering one of the first things she fought was someone using AI funnels, Darilbalde also uses its bits pretty interestingly too, and Pharact's bits aren't really guns they do no damage on their own which is interesting, but I know for a fact Pharact will be annoying in games because of it
I'm still of the opinion that bits and funnels of all kinds should only be functional in space environments, even with a hyper-psychic pilot. Gravity exists ffs.
I think they should just be harder to control in gravity compared to space. It’d be interesting to compare how weighted and sluggish they are under gravity compared to the ease they travel through space with. I think one part of G-Witch’s combat that I hate is how floaty everything feels when the fights take place at the school. Aerial’s bits shouldn’t be floating around when idle nor would it be practical for them to be aimed over her shoulders rather than from the ground where they have to fight gravity less. When bits and funnels come into play they shouldn’t always just be agile extra guns. The fang approach that Reborns and Arche had where they could be used to immobilize the enemy would have been nice to see but G-Witch just applies them in the most boring fashion.
Funnels being more weighty on earth was something Jamil taught Garrod in X.
All I want to know is
Why are all the explosions since 00 purple without exception
Yuri or yaoi shit is cringe and always has been. Frick off. We dont like you.
Are you ready for tomorrow?
ready to see the anime finally take a backflip into the nearest manhole yeah
Not enough Guel.
I will say though if you want more earth-based stuff definitely take a look at Vanadis Heart
This is my first time at Anime Expo as an exhibitor rather than an attendee. Come buy muh kits
Mark them all up except for the Michaelis. That’ll teach the frickers
I think Witch from Mercury struggles with its pacing. Prospera's master plan has been the backbone of the show, so to have it resolve quickly is to do a disservice to the amount of time it took to implement. The show should have had 13 episodes each cour and used the extra episodes to better explore what Quiet Zero is, how it will give Eri freedom and/or a body, why people built it, etc. Furthermore, the cast should have inner conflicts as to whether Quiet Zero should be allowed to end the war partitioning system, whether they think they can wrest it from Prospera and make the world a better place themselves, if the other companies want to steal it for their own ends, etc.
I also think that Quiet Zero should have succeeded at creating a data storm around Earth and affecting all of the spacian companies. Let the plan affect the setting, thereby stepping out of the hypothetical and into the actual. This would raise the stakes a good deal, make the rest of the setting have to wake up to what's happening with this personal, character-driven plan, and it would let us see the exact possibilities for what Quiet Zero can do to the setting, thus utilizing "show, don't tell." The cast would have to get through this Earth data storm to confront Quiet Zero, thereby moving the setting for the final battle to somewhere that feels more innately relevant rather than a distant corner of space.
I really wanted to like the show, I get what they were going for and I think anons were a bit too harsh with their opinions. But on the other hand the plot is a mess with shoddy execution.
The scale for revenge was so small, literally nothing happens in the grand scheme of things.
>Delling still alive
>Quiet Zero built up to be big spooky space magic machine, does nothing
>Quiet Zero gets shut down by ddos
>Fights were basically one on ones against nobodies and students with no real combat experience.
>Never see mercury
really think the ending will be an even more disappointing shit than what we've seen up until now
Yeah if you take a step back it's honestly really bizarre how 'small' this is. It seems like something that would happen in a spinoff that needed to happen without effecting the timeline all too much.
>Never see mercury
I'm not surprised, but I'm still mad that they only used the title to make it dumb pun with 水星/彗星.
I think the series is fine, not great but fine. It fall short on shit actually happening,
Characters are kinda likeable but the story drops a lot of shit that they touch again
Conflict we never see
Fight that never happened
Lots of stuff are "yeah this happened, here is this 5 minutes clip in one episode and we are never going to touch this ever again"
A lot of the big moments of this series relied on me thinking Prospera was some master schemer, making her confidence seem intimidating and foreboding.
...Now it's looking like she was relying on luck and was really not that smart, just overconfident for no reason.
One of the biggest issues I have is how many robots the show had that barely have time to do much of anything. Several of them feel wasted here. Shit, Aerial Rebuild never gets a good fight against anyone, since they're all one sided curbstomps that barely last more than a minute. I was hoping for a good fight against Calibarn, but nope.
Rebuild really doesn't need another fight, for that matter Aerial in general sure doesn't. The only suits I wanted to see more of are the Demi line in general, I feel like everything else has a decent enough but even no name companies MS get more screentime than them.
They really have a good setup during Aerial VS Darilbalde rematch.
But nope, cant have suletta defeated by filthy m*le i guess
I don't like the mobile suit as much as I like other ones in other shows.
The school uniforms are ugly as shit. Actually the Outfits in general are ass.
How about you tell us why it's good without going pretending everyone who disagrees is /misc/ instead?
You now remember G-Witch's writer also wrote Valvrave & Code Geass, two famous trainwrecks
Code Geass R1 is a good anime because it accomplishes the only thing it needs to: be an entertaining, coherent story with memorable characters. R2 and Valvrave were total trainwrecks, albeit amusing ones.
WfM is a trainwreck but only SOMETIMES entertaining, and the characters are mediocre at best.
Both of which were actually entertaining, in large part because shit actually happened in it. Valvrave is this show but good. It's actually pretty interesting to compare them given how similar they start off.
VVV at least went batshit
I haven't been keeping up with the show at all since the second season because I'm too lazy to torrent it, but when I saw the thread right after the episode that revealed Suletta was one of many Eri clones my opinion of this show immediately tanked.
Clone theory is one of the only consistent parts of the show though
I understand that, and in hindsight it's extremely obvious, but I just don't like it as a plot point fundamentally. Maybe I'll be ok with it once I'm caught up but I would have preferred that Suletta still be Eri and not a clone.
they're probably going to do some vulcan mind meld and be a complete entity in last episode
How the frick did you not come to that conclusion IMMEDIATELY upon seeing the S2 ed
It's so obvious, the intrigue was HOW we got there
now that it'll end in just an hour (hopefully for good), what's your final episode prediction? i think there'll be a frickton of characters suddenly die just for lulz
>what's your final episode prediction?
Either I never have to hear about gwitch again or we're going to get another season somehow.
I'm so nervous I'm more nervous than today's second exam in Eiken. Will this Gundam end with a bad ending? Will it end with a happy ending? Or will it end in the middle? I want a sequel if possible
I'm predicting that they'll end on an unearned kiss that will be spammed on /m/ for weeks as a deflection for any criticism
>that El4n scene
fade me
Episode is airing in jp right now and I hate the feeling Shaddiq seems to be winning despite being jailed
i'm literally crying
of how dogshit this is
Atleast it's over.
Lel they went classic Beyond The Time with the green rainbows
it's like at some point they just gave up writing and let ChatGPT finish the rest of the script
scene straight from F91
>this is Pharact's only role in the final battle
JUST
the absolute state of Nika's new hairstyle
>Nika's hair

SEXXOOOOOOOOOO
Can't believe they actually granted the wish of Guel's VA (he said he liked Secelia)
Gundam: the Witch of Reference
Was that it?
IT'S OVER
IT'S FRICKING OVER
EVERYONE GO HOME NOW
I haven't watched the show at all or really paid any attention to discussion of it but tell me what happened in the final episode thanks
Unicorn ending but gay.
But Unicorn's ending was already gay
Just Unicorn then I guess.
Unicorn but for "Unicorn" audiance
They survived
No idea who they are thank you though
the golden girls of Gundam
>They weren't actually the same haircut and colour
RUINED
5 years waiting since the last mainline Gundam anime and this is what we got...
From Gyoubu
I want to see Darilbalde again...

Yuri fans are eternally edging
cant believe Guel ends up with Secelia
in hindsight, not surprising because his VA did express a lot of love for Secelia (particularly her legs)
Those proportions always look so off.
>It didn't get any new colours or anything
lmao
So which is considered Suletta's "true" MS now, KYARIBAAN or EEARIARU?
Calibarn, has to be. Aerial outgrew the need for Suletta but Calibarn needs her
So, like, when they're added to Extreme Gigafrick Maxidick Boost Versus ON!!, it'll be
>Suletta in Calibarn
>Guel is Darilbalde
>Elan in Pharact
>Prospera in Aerial Rebuild
?
Yeah, and it'll probably be final form Calibarn where it'll summon Aerial, Schwarzette, and Pharact as assists
nah
Suletta in Aerial
Suletta in Aerial Rebuild
Suletta in Calibarn with Pharact and Schwarzette and Darilbalde as summons
I promise you it will be Eri in Rebuild.
Also ZERO chance they won't feature Pharact and Darilbalde
I hate lesbians. I hate CGDCT bullshit. I hate animu highschool settings. Also the mech designs were pretty shit, nothing made me want to run out and buy a kit of it. Wouldn't have bought a kit anyways because I don't want to support shows I don't like financially and send sunrise/bandai the wrong message. Doesn't matter though because everyone else has shit fricking taste and has to CONSOOM.
Inb4 /misc/. It's just typical jap yuri shit, I don't like it. I like cool autistic dudes piloting robots.
I wanted more mecha go voooo voosh pew pew bzz bzz boom
SCWHARZETTE AND PHARACT BARELY DOING ANYTHING AT ALL
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
CALIBAN GOT ITS COOL NEW UPGRADE AND THEN IMMEDIATELY KILLED ITSELF. I'M FRICKING MAD
WHERE'S THE BEEF.
show sucked
The MS designs are uglier than my mom after she had her third child.
/misc/ was right, lol
/misc/ is basically always right
What a travesty of an ending
yurishit nuff said.
Dykes bores me, simple as
