Psycho remake

This would have certified kino if they got a better actor to play Norman Bates. The guy they picked is terrible, he ruins the movie.
Anne Heche though is cute.

Very strange movie because they kept all the 50s dialogue and behavior intact even though it's supposed to be set in the present. Feels more like an experimental project than an average horror remake

      >Even Van Sant later admitted that it was an experiment that proved that no one can really copy a film exactly the same way as the original.[32] One favorable take on the film came from an LA Weekly retrospective article published in 2013, in which writer Vern stated that the film was misunderstood as a commercially motivated film when it was in fact an "experiment" and this was the reason for the poor reception.[12] Vern concluded that "experiments don't always have to work to be worth doing".[12]

I am surprised Anne Heche did not have a bigger career. It seemed like she was on fire for a while.

Doesn't work as a movie, but does as an experiment. I'll kind of defend it, to be honest. It looks great, at least. Good use of color and I like Robert Forester showing up at the end.

the photgraphy looks ass. the high use of contrast and symbolic use of black/white gets completely numbed down in the colored version

I don't know if I've ever come across a more pointless exercise than this. It's shot for shot just with colour and all round worse performances.
    It should not exist.

Why the frick does Gus let objects obscure the face and bodies of the actors/actresses? I knew something felt off with Sants Psycho, its so fricking unnecessarily annoying. Talk about not doing it shot for shot

In a vacuum, yes that’s weird to notice. In this case, the whole selling point is that it’s a shot for shot remake of a pre-existing movie. When you start comparing shots between the versions, you notice differences. If the same difference keeps coming up, it becomes a pattern

Anne Heche lacked the breasts, was too cute
Viggo was too much chad, Julianne Moore was too feisty and hot, and Vincent Vaughn was too fakegay, nervous and not wicked enough

imo, they should remake Psycho 1998 in digital with Franscesca Capaldi as Marion Crane, Ezra Miller as Norman Bates, Tom Halland as Sam Loomis and Zendaya as Lila Crane

Is there a porn parody of this?

like, I mean, they penetrate her with a dildo in the shower, and the troony is a lesbo-woman with gilf-fetishes, and instead of cars in the lake, they have a big watersports-scene, and the ending is a big fantasy-multischizoid-orgy where Bates fricks herself and streams the acts live on OF
    ???

Honestly I think it’s time someone did a more faithful version to the book. Because Hitchwiener did change stuff. In the book Norman is more overtly a perverted loser, has clear blackouts because he’s borderline closet alcoholic, wears glasses, etc. Hell even the structure itself is different in Hickwiener’s version and while it is genius thanks to the way he makes the story play out I think following Bloch’s structure to make it different could work. I mean you should still change some things because Bloch is a schlock writer but the basic idea of not just copying Hitchwiener is sound way to do it.

why didn't Bates frick them? She was totally into him from the start, so why didn't he screw them? was it because of his mother?

He was a mentally fricked up virgin with a deep fear/hate of women thanks to his mother

and? if he was mentally ill he would still jam his cuttie into them ,rite?

Anthony Perkins was gay (died of AIDS) playing a straight character. Vince Vaughn was straight playing a gay character, that's my impression

Norman wasn’t gay. He had clear sexual attraction towards women. It’s just that he was entirely fricked up in the head, and had weird psychosexual relationships with his mother so he was unable to frick any woman (until the sequels) because of that. He’s lust over women and then Mother in his head would berate him and kill the women and he’d snap back to being Norman and be too afraid and focused to do anything except protect mother. Plus he isn’t a necrophiliac. He isn’t aroused by dead corpses.

how the frick do u know? r u norman bates? imo, norman bates is a chad and he slays women as a show-off, they're beneath him, he wants posh babes, rich girls from a royal lineage, queens and their daughters, you know. but since he lives in the fricking states and in the desert, it won't be easy finding them queens there, you know. that is my interpretention

when Vince "knocked out" Viggo with a 9-iron I couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity. a whole film crew OKed this....

After I saw this movie, I couldn't see Vince Vaughn in any other way. Even in his comedic roles I could not unsee Norman Bates. This fog lasted for months.
