When the big ball drops on January 1st 2024, the first three Mickey cartoons enter the public domain. That's it. The Disney company has no tricks up it's sleeve this time around.
What do you plan to do with the character (and by extension, Minnie Mouse) once they both become everyone's to use?
Who cares about the mice, what about Pete?
Pete's been public domain since 2021
There's like several different forms to choose from by January
>bear with a peg leg from the Alice Comedies
>dog-looking character with a peg leg in the Oswald cartoon "The Ocean Hop"
>cat forms in Steamboat Willie and Gallopin Gaucho
Ironically the public domain version is just 'Pete', he won't get a Peg Leg until a few years later, so that element is still under copyright.
peg leg always sucked, and public domain is pretty much the one that is in goof troop
I like Pete with a peg leg.
Disney will burn the world before they loosen their iron grip on the Mouse. You underestimate the power of greed.
They don't have any options left now, Mickey's going into the public domain and that's that.
>They don't have any options left now
They have the Samson Option. If they can't own the world, no one can.
And all just because they pissed off California, well deserved
Are you fricking still thinking it's 2013, shithead? Not only has time run out to create another copyright extension, the government is less likely to help Disney on account of the spat last year.
Disney will own the world or no one will. Nothing can overcome the insurmountable power of unfettered greed. Everything must be consumed.
>idiot thinks it's still 2013 and that Disney is invincible
lol
EVERYTHING MUST BE DEVOURED.
MONEY IS THE ONLY GOD.
GREED IS A VIRTUE, NOT A SIN.
They took so much shit and bad PR from when they last changed laws related to PD to stop Mickey from going into the PD, that they decided to take the loss since it wasn't going to be worth the capital they'd have to burn to get another extension.
Their "solution" to this existential crisis they can't stop, was to retire the evergreen Mickey design that has been the status quo since the 50s and create a new version of Mickey's first appearance design (allowing them leyway to sue people if they stray too heavily from the PD short design) and to beef up their legal department to basically be anal retentive c**ts who will sue anyone making public domain shit with Mickey that infringes on Disney's trademarks relating to Disney (as trademarks are forever).
That said, I'm more interested in Tigger becoming public domain since that means I can publish my Eeyore fiction where he leaves the woods and into the real world due to him not wanting to live in the same forest as a tigger.
They changed the law twice in the past due to how much dick's they sucked in California, once they stopped sucking dicks as hard they lost plenty of power
The solution is easy. They just have to own everything. Consume everything. Devour everything. Eat until there is nothing left to eat.
Wait doesn't 4Milne own Tigger
It's been 120 years, Bob. It's time to let go.
>Wish become a disappointing mess film for a Disney anniversary
>MCU isn’t profitable as what was and never got a box offered hit like phase 3
>Republicans not even trying to along with Disney to deal on the public domain of Mickey Mouse
>Public distrust of Disney is higher ever before
At least Nintendo have been good games to avoid controversy
Ok schizo

Can't wait for nothing to actually come from it besides some low quality edgelord shit
I don't get why homies hate that artists could send their grandkids to college because of copyright laws
I would love if my grandpa made a successful work and I didn't have to work 60 hours a week to be able to get a degree to get a non shit job
Degrees should be funded by the state, not parents.
How is Walt's family doing nowadays? I've never seen any news reports about how some grandnephew is taking control of the business or anything
>The Disney company has no tricks up it's sleeve this time around.
Yes they do. They're commonly know as the Pinkerton Detective Agency. You're high if you think they'll give up the mouse without literal violence.
>T-They're gonna use the Pinkertons guys!!
The desperate state of Disney shills
>Pinkerton Detective Agency
Didn't they recently go after some for a videogame
Sell sex toys of Mickey and Minnie mouse. This would be the greatest way to screw everyone over.
I don't give half a shit about the mouse. People already made some degenerate subversive Winnie the Pooh horror movie which is just insulting slop. Disney isn't going to suffer and nothing good is going to come out of this. It's just more garbage all the way down.
I think Cinemaphile should make a lot of ranchy stuff new years day
No on on fricking EARTH seriously cares about trying to exploit Mickey fricking Mouse for financial gain, though. The only people Disney ever sued was single unmarried daycare center owners who painted amateur mickeys on their wall.
I thought its just steamboat willie not actual mickey
