Youtube counts a view every single time a video loops. So a 1 second long short will get 60 views a minute per person.
Obviously it is not that extreme, but shows you how views can escalate from endless looping. So get 1000 babies watching baby shark on loop for 10 hours a day and it adds up.

Digital Circus cracked the code to indie success. You literally need to target the baby demographic to make a successful indie animation (even if it is intended for an older audience).
Now, I haven't watched Punch Punch Forever but just seeing the threads, it doesn't seem like it would appeal to kids. I teach elementary and kids (2nd thru 6th) never shut the frick up about Digital Circus.
This. PPF was for us and animation fans on twitter. The Circus shit is clearly for the kids that would also obsess over FNAF.
7th/8th grade teacher here, they ain't shutting up about it at my level either. they also won't shut up about paw patrol and looney tunes, so we have all age ranges of animation covered.

Because Digital Circus had all the alternate language options on the same video, which means that it got truly global views. It might have gotten at least 4 mil from English speakers alone, but then you add in views from all of South America, Europe and most of Asia then it's only natural that it would balloon up massively.
It was honestly a genius idea.
Yeah, most videos eventually get a dub but then those are uploaded to a different channel (or maybe a different video on the same channel). That spreads views out. By putting the dubs in the main video it draws ALL the views to that one video.
