The reformed villain could narrowly save the day and brood about how "at least one life was better because I wasn't Franked, I've changed, to hell with the Punisher."

i'm sorry but how does bad writing about powers and ninjas offer change or development for the character?
i smell a false dichotomy, and it wouldn't be hard to have him kill people that the justice system will never deal with. it also wouldn't be hard to depict him killing corrupt cops and judges, people who are "above the law", if he can't expose them.

>i'm sorry but how does bad writing about powers and ninjas offer change or development for the character?
1. It doesn't. They're dumb gimmicks thrown at a wall to see what stick.
2. Change and development are antithetical to capeshit at the best of times, especially so when it's a concept like Punisher that hinges on the permanence of him killing his antagonists.
Punisher killing bad guys is like Wonder Woman rehabilitating them via loving bondage; it's a neat concept but it can't sustain itself in the world of cyclical narratives of superheroes. >and it wouldn't be hard to have him kill people that the justice system will never deal with. it also wouldn't be hard to depict him killing corrupt cops and judges, people who are "above the law", if he can't expose them.
Has that really not been done yet? And also that's not what I'm talking about. Frank can easily kill hundreds of corrupt cop or judges or politicians. But no one that *matters* to the greater Marvel Universe. He'll never kill a supervillian above Stilt-man tier. Better and more popular characters need those villains.

They've been telling the same exact story with James Bond for the last 60 fricking years, longer than the Punisher has been around, I'm sure they could find something to do.
>he was MADE irrelevant by a company that wanted to get rid of him
Complete and utter bullshit. They kept trying to publish Punisher for years and he barely sold anything outside of Ennis’ MAX run. The character has been running on fumes for decades after his popularity peaked
wait so you're telling me other people besides me liked "Reborn" and they didn't take the opportunity to write a character better, and with other marvel characters?
my point stands. publishing punisher separately is part of making it irrelevant. they writers have cyclops and wolverine on death squads all the time but punisher can't make guest star appearances in team arcs that involved organized crime? bullshit.
>publishing punisher separately is part of making it irrelevant
WTF are you talking about something like 90% of Punisher stories have nothing to do with superheroes. And he was appearing in all kinds of Marvel comics as a guest star and almost every solo title of his has been set in 616. Yet despite that Ennis’ MAX run is the most popular and acclaimed title he’s had since the early 90s.
>but punisher can't make guest star appearances in team arcs that involved organized crime? bullshit.
Punisher, like X-men, has to exist in his own little bubble where he can't kill anyone too big or important because other books need those villains.
So Punisher is NEVER going to permanently kill off Wilson Fisk, because then Daredevil and Spider-man won't get to use him and they're more important than Frank will ever be. So instead Punisher gets non canon "he killed the entire Marvel universe" stories and/or has to be content killing random street thugs.
>they have to exist in their own bubble
no the frick he doesn't. using x-men is a bad example considering how bad x-men is and how writers have rehashed the same fricking story to the point it's at now basically being a dumpster bitten by a radioactive fire.
also, punisher was great in the daredevil netflix show, he provides a great juxtaposition to other heroic idioms.
>we can't kill of fisk for the same reason batman can't kill joker
and everyone knows that's stupid and people will lose interest in the comic. the answer is to kill the villain and come up with a new stories, which is literally a writer's job. that's what they're paid for. if you're simply saying those are the problems, fine. but those are excuses for debased comic companies

NTA, but I think it's more that Frank and the X-Men have the same problem in that the loudest subset of their fans are 110% about one specific aspect of the books. The primary difference is that Marvel seems to actively avoid what those fans want regarding 616 in Frank's case and embrace it with the X-Men.
punisher had a team up with moon knight and it was good. a whole new character named toltec appeared and then was dropped like it was nothing. this isn't punisher not selling, it's a company that doesn't want to deal with politics if it means politics AND guns. just admit liberals will never hire a writer to actually delve in to the problems of immigration having to do with how people are exploited by the cartels, or depict how conservatives just have a position of xenophobia more important to them than the crime that drives people to flee their homeland. punisher could get wrapped up in keeping a musician alive from a murderous record company with a death clause they want to cash in on since the artist isn't making as much money. punisher could dismantle forced human trafficking with x-23 and kill anyone who threatens sex worker unions, etc etc etc.
there's no reason it wouldn't work other than the people in charge at marvel and disney don't give a shit and want it to go away. maybe they had guns, maybe they don't want to depict decent white guys that happen to be violent, i don't know. but it's just an excuse regardless of whatever rationalization
LOL i added a TLDR at the end. you chose to read it on your own. you're the one pouting and fusshing like a child because you made a decision on your own to read it
Punisher had done multiple human trafficking stories over the years and it has not made him any more popular or relevant. What is this stupid victim complex you carry around.
>multiple trafficking stories over the years
name a few then, i'd like to read them. just a heads up if they're from decades ago how dated are they? what do they present for characters? who are the villains? were the writers knowledgeable about real world examples of what they wanted to touch on?
if you have a punisher story that's a team up with x-23 where there is a distinction drawn between forced human trafficking and defending sex workers unions, it will get attention. the trick is getting knowledgeable writers to present a coherent plot.
>outside of one acclaimed run
What? Frank has a bunch of good runs and had multiple books throughout the eighties and nineties. There's definitely an audience for non subversive punisher comics
I still love him, Frank will always be my favorite. This latest story wasn’t horrible, but it’s nothing special. Having him bring Maria back, only for her to learn about “The Punisher”, hate him and all he’s done on his family’s name, and then sell of all his weapons and warehouses and then divorce him, while shooting him in the heart was pretty wack. I wish they would stop doing stories where his family is back. They always suck.
If anything is a sign of how fricked up the priorities are at Marvel it's the fact that they consider Punisher being popular among cops a PROBLEM instead of a marvelous opportunity.
Yeah, great opportunities in putting the punisher skull next to cops who gets convicted for murder or beat up people to a degree that the city has to pay millions in settling the excessive use of force lawsuits.
A logo is also part of a brand and you’re not going to sell much product when your logo and brand gets strongly associated with white supremacy groups, far right extremism, or say cops that use excessive force or kill citizens without just cause. Especially not companies known for their family friendly branding.
They managed to make it work with Black Panther, which was a radical terrorist organization back in the day.
That's a reasonable perspective. WTF are you doing here.
didn't an army squad use it first and then the cops used it?
The millitary used similar logos before the punisher. The punisher was VERY popular with the US millitary when it came out and they used his shit. Police picked it up much much later, when they started copying millitary shit.
They tried to take hostages in a courthouse to stop a trial anon. And that's not even counting the full racial supremacy KKK shit the 90's version was up to. But Marvel kept Black Panther.

that's fricking moronic, but the answer is actually this: liberals are cowards and give away anything that could be remotely misconstrued. if nazis said "we like rainbows" and had rallies with rainbow flags, and murdered people holding rainbow flags, liberals would give up rainbow flags
Too many sjw activist writers working for them. Marvel is hard left. Imagine hiring writers you can't disciple or fire going on social media talking shit about white people. That's Marvel. Cucked by diversity hires.
fades into irrelevancy
like he wasn't there already.
The reason Marvel felt comfortable changing the logo is because there wasn't a big loss. You think if cops suddenly adopted the Superman S or a spider symbol they'd change those? Frick no, because those characters actually make money.
the skull symbol was used by nazi officers. it's a specific thing associated with fascism and other senses, to the far right and conservatism. there are even skulls, maybe even with crossbones, in catholic churches in europe
not that it matters, it didn't need to change. changing it was just virtue signalling. also it didn't really change. it's still a stylized skull
>the skull symbol was used by nazi officers
Oh frick lmao somebody shop the punisher skull all over Hugo Boss coats right now.
You dipshit fricking moron.
what did you think of the ideas in that one thread that had punisher be a mexican going up against the cartels or some jap agaisnt the yakuza or black moms against hood gangstas?
That's a problem with all capeshit tbqh >Gotham City >Hub City >supposed to be like modern day Chicago but street criminals are still mob goons in fedoras and tommy guns
No it’s just a sign of how unpopular comic books are. I guarantee you no one who knows who The Punisher is has any clue what happened to him in the comics. They will all assume he’s still being The Punisher in a Punisher comic because they don’t keep up with this dying industry. The normies would freak out over half of the revelations that lurk in the pages of comics. You don’t think the millions and millions of Spider-Man fans across the globe know he makes deals with Satan and had to suffer his daughter being force miscarried do you? They’d flip their shit.
Comics only exist to justify the merchandise, movies and games. No one outside of a few tens of thousands actually read or care about the fricking things.
Marvel editorial are still gays but I can understand the need to downplay Frank if Disney was pissed about the negative PR of the skull symbol being featured on bumper stickers and Facebook profiles of people who got on the news for shooting someone.
I don't even hate the Hand idea but of course Marvel are gays and Aaron sucks so it wasn't good.
I would have just let him be the resurrected new leader of the Hand, give him the demon symbol and a sword and do a mini with Daredevil, Spider Man and Captain America, Marvel Knights style.
Get rid of the cosmic bullshit and bring back the real Nick Fury. Call him "Old Man Fury" and he's recruited for a special SHIELD task force to go after Castle. Basically juat re do Wolverine's Enemy of the State and let it simmer in the background.
Concede that Samuel L. Jackson Nick Fury Jr is the permanent Fury for Marvel crossovers
Let Ewing do more with Outlaw, the British Punisher.
Do a storyline where Punisher 2099 gets stuck in the present day
Do more with Deathlok
Make a SHIELD black ops/spy tech book
It's not great but it's the best case scenario for getting bad liberal PR off their back without pissing off old school fans
Marvel continuity is a lost cause anyway.

Food deserts have also been redefined about 3 or 4 times in the past 20 years because Dollar General outright destroyed the original concept. Also regardless of definition, the majority of food deserts exist in rural areas.

Yeah. It isn't. Which is why they started dong dumb shit like making him a Frankenstein or giving him angelic powers or making him a ninja. There's only so much you can do with "Angry guy kills bad guys but not the popular ones" before it gets stale.
i'm sorry but how does bad writing about powers and ninjas offer change or development for the character?
i smell a false dichotomy, and it wouldn't be hard to have him kill people that the justice system will never deal with. it also wouldn't be hard to depict him killing corrupt cops and judges, people who are "above the law", if he can't expose them.
>i'm sorry but how does bad writing about powers and ninjas offer change or development for the character?
They didn’t make him a ninja. He lead a ninja death cult for less than a year as an avatar to their weirdo god because they resurrected his dead wife and he was able to kill more people and it was a good story that did something good and different from “Frank shoots another criminal”
>comic company virtue signals about fascist skull
>"changes" the design to a stylized skull
>white guy becomes avatar of an asian god
>somehow this isn't cultural appropriation even if fictional
i agree with you that it is pottery
Because it’s not cultural appropriation. It’s a made up murder god. Worshipped by a death cult. It’s not even the first character channeling said god in the comics.
well yes, we know that. but they're ninjas. you and i both know liberals are inconsistent. if someone make a comic of a hot native american they'll freak out. for whatever reason white guy in charge of ninjas didn't make twitter want to b***h because they never actually cared about the skull logo. liberal PR listens to moronic children. i'm just saying if they were consistent, they'd b***h about the ninja/samurai sword too
>if someone make a comic of a hot native american they'll freak out
Echo has had multiple comics in the past year and nobody freaked out. Why are you just flat out lying? Can’t make an argument without resorting to made up stories to your points, buddy?
Not him but how about this one: if they wrote a story about the world's biggest dick inhaler but didn't credit you as the source of inspiration, it'd be appropriation
This is why Marvel gave up on Punisher.
We have this dumb running in circles argument every fricking day
>WHY WYPIPO DON'T PUT PUBLIX IN DA HOOD
Because dindus steal everything and the only available work force are shitheads with face tattoos and cheeto dreads
>WYPIPO WANT BROTHAS EATING SLOP
Canned meat and vegetables are dirt cheap but you'd rather spend welfare on Lawry's and purple drank
Every generation comes to realize you'll go broke trying to subsidize nigs out of their natural state just in time for the next one to come of voting age and call them racist.
You’re literally getting mad at hypothetical oeople for not being unreasonable so you can get mad at them for being unreasonable.
That's even worse from a cultural appropriation angle. He becomes leader of a literal yellow peril cult. The fact that the religion doesn't exist doesn't make it any better. I mean look at the mandarin or fing fang foom or kung lung. No actual asian religions portrayed there either.
It’s not a yellow peril cult. Why do you keep using words that you apparently don’t understand the meaning of?
They're a mystic death cult with exotic asian wizards. They could be straight from a 1920's serial and not be out of place at all..
>There's only so much you can do with "Angry guy kills bad guys but not the popular ones" before it gets stale.
The character has been running on fumes for decades after his popularity peaked
>barely sold anything outside of ennis's max run
wait so you're telling me other people besides me liked "Reborn" and they didn't take the opportunity to write a character better, and with other marvel characters?
my point stands. publishing punisher separately is part of making it irrelevant. they writers have cyclops and wolverine on death squads all the time but punisher can't make guest star appearances in team arcs that involved organized crime? bullshit.
>publishing punisher separately is part of making it irrelevant
WTF are you talking about something like 90% of Punisher stories have nothing to do with superheroes. And he was appearing in all kinds of Marvel comics as a guest star and almost every solo title of his has been set in 616. Yet despite that Ennis’ MAX run is the most popular and acclaimed title he’s had since the early 90s.
okay so if he's a great character to have guest star, why the frick did marvel decide to keep trying with his own title except shitty?
like if a character is popular, they can stay popular as a guest star in other titles. why is this complicated to fathom?
….what?
>the companies do crossover movies and comic tie ins to each other
>we can't have punisher be in different titles in the marvel universe
are you moronic
Again, I do not comprehend what you’re babbling about
well then you can spend the rest of your life confused. 🙂
>but punisher can't make guest star appearances in team arcs that involved organized crime?
So instead Punisher gets non canon "he killed the entire Marvel universe" stories and/or has to be content killing random street thugs.
>they have to exist in their own bubble
no the frick he doesn't. using x-men is a bad example considering how bad x-men is and how writers have rehashed the same fricking story to the point it's at now basically being a dumpster bitten by a radioactive fire.
also, punisher was great in the daredevil netflix show, he provides a great juxtaposition to other heroic idioms.
>we can't kill of fisk for the same reason batman can't kill joker
and everyone knows that's stupid and people will lose interest in the comic. the answer is to kill the villain and come up with a new stories, which is literally a writer's job. that's what they're paid for. if you're simply saying those are the problems, fine. but those are excuses for debased comic companies
>and how writers have rehashed the same fricking story to the point it's at now basically being a dumpster bitten by a radioactive fire.
So exactly like Punisher then.
>like punisher
i don't know anon, did frank castle have his own island, have a monopoly on an important drug, let war criminals join him and spout off capitalist agendas to take over the world like magneto did? how does the writing for nu-punisher go beyond mediocre to as terrible as krakoa?
NTA, but I think it's more that Frank and the X-Men have the same problem in that the loudest subset of their fans are 110% about one specific aspect of the books. The primary difference is that Marvel seems to actively avoid what those fans want regarding 616 in Frank's case and embrace it with the X-Men.
P.S.
punisher had a team up with moon knight and it was good. a whole new character named toltec appeared and then was dropped like it was nothing. this isn't punisher not selling, it's a company that doesn't want to deal with politics if it means politics AND guns. just admit liberals will never hire a writer to actually delve in to the problems of immigration having to do with how people are exploited by the cartels, or depict how conservatives just have a position of xenophobia more important to them than the crime that drives people to flee their homeland. punisher could get wrapped up in keeping a musician alive from a murderous record company with a death clause they want to cash in on since the artist isn't making as much money. punisher could dismantle forced human trafficking with x-23 and kill anyone who threatens sex worker unions, etc etc etc.
there's no reason it wouldn't work other than the people in charge at marvel and disney don't give a shit and want it to go away. maybe they had guns, maybe they don't want to depict decent white guys that happen to be violent, i don't know. but it's just an excuse regardless of whatever rationalization
>B-b-but what if someone did a comic I liked
It’s like talking to a child
All comics have been selling like shit for over a decade now, who are you trying to kid?
A logo is just a logo. My criminal justice teacher used the skull for shirts when we joined his class. Doesn't make us killers or anything
That's a reasonable perspective. WTF are you doing here.
The millitary used similar logos before the punisher. The punisher was VERY popular with the US millitary when it came out and they used his shit. Police picked it up much much later, when they started copying millitary shit.
>radical terrorist organization back in the day.
Yeah, like giving kids free breakfast.
They tried to take hostages in a courthouse to stop a trial anon. And that's not even counting the full racial supremacy KKK shit the 90's version was up to. But Marvel kept Black Panther.
And their leader was assassinated by the state.
Come on, leftypol. Can you hold a complete thought? All this shit doesn't change the fact that the current RBPP is a bunch of violent racists.
And the Klan helped clean highways across the midwest, where is your point?
>when they started copying military shit
You mean when the dudes in the military retired and still wanted to be "treated with respect" and "feel powerful".
>marvel has fricked up priorities because you should support cops
that's fricking moronic, but the answer is actually this: liberals are cowards and give away anything that could be remotely misconstrued. if nazis said "we like rainbows" and had rallies with rainbow flags, and murdered people holding rainbow flags, liberals would give up rainbow flags
Frick no, because those characters actually make money.
the skull symbol was used by nazi officers. it's a specific thing associated with fascism and other senses, to the far right and conservatism. there are even skulls, maybe even with crossbones, in catholic churches in europe
not that it matters, it didn't need to change. changing it was just virtue signalling. also it didn't really change. it's still a stylized skull
homie everyone use the skull a symbol, it's a god dam skull.
>The skull symbol was used by nazi officers
>it's a specific thing associated with fascism
>brings up the Catholic church
Tell me you're a moronic far lefty without telling me you're a moronic far lefty.
>the skull symbol was used by nazi officers
Oh frick lmao somebody shop the punisher skull all over Hugo Boss coats right now.
You dipshit fricking moron.
what did you think of the ideas in that one thread that had punisher be a mexican going up against the cartels or some jap agaisnt the yakuza or black moms against hood gangstas?
the pathetic part is it isn't that changed. it's still a stylized skull
His whole deal was kills criminals and they never showed blacks in the book ever when the should be in half the issues and he still got cancelled.
That's a problem with all capeshit tbqh
>Gotham City
>Hub City
>supposed to be like modern day Chicago but street criminals are still mob goons in fedoras and tommy guns
Marvel continuity is a lost cause anyway.
>do more with deathlok
YES
Random marvel writers seething about the punisher Being popular is the weirdest shit
>Amerisharts have to cancel Frank because he hurts criminals (i.e. black people's) feelings
I hope they feel proud of themselves when they're driving an extra 30 minutes to find a grocery store that moved out of the city because of looter gangs
They (white people) will blame white people for not wanting to open stores in areas that will obviously cause those stores to get stolen from constantly
Oh no, they won't be able to buy Walslop anymore. What a loss to the community that can't ever be filled.
Wait, so now you people admit food deserts are a thing? When you get to shit on minorities?
food deserts aren't a conspiracy by wypipo to force people of color to eat nothing but takis and honey buns.
Food deserts have also been redefined about 3 or 4 times in the past 20 years because Dollar General outright destroyed the original concept. Also regardless of definition, the majority of food deserts exist in rural areas.
Work on your english. And food deserts are obviously a thing. When an area is SO fricked up that capitalists can't make money selling junk food to americans,. And you only get that bad for very specific reasons, which are severe crime, bad enough so that even guatemalan civil war veterans can't run a market. Followup on this belongs in pol.
>Trusting a state
It was over before it began.
>WYPIPO HAVE MADE US HAVE FOOD DESERTS MANG
Frick off. I live in a rural area and have to drive 6 minutes to get to a grocery store. Minorities complaining because they don't have a publix within walking distance is the peak of entitlement.
Gas stations have banbanas and apples now. Just do it.
I miss Frankposting
frank-a frank-a frank-a
>immediately fades into irrelevancy and fans abandon him
Yes, that was the point. Did you think Marvel Comics was in the business of expanding their readership and recognizability?
As if most online rightwingers aren't weebs
Capcha: RHAMP
Marvel's best character, and they go and bury him.
>39 posters
lmao this is just OP bumping his own shit outrage bait thread
