Clothes would still have practical applications as they'd prevent dings and scratches on the chassis.
Clothes I can see as a basic addition to assimilate with humans. Without them they look naked, even if there's nothing to hide. Humans don't technically need to be fully clothed either, but a near-sighted nudist still needs glasses.
