You cannot trust your average barista to float/close the till, stocktake, deal with mouthy dipshits, and do a decent job cleaning for open/close, or deal with staffing issue when someone inevitably calls in sick/hungover/lazy.
Hanners would be incapable of running that shop alone, even with the paltry 3 customers a year it sees.

If you expect ANY actual resolution to the many mental problems thrown in as flavor of the month, you will be disappointed.
About half the cast had crippling mental problems at some point and they just sort of disappear as Jeph gets bored.
One thread per comic was the norm until Cubetown, we got a weeklong a couple times for that. It helped that an AItist joined the drawgay/s for a while. We've been sliding back into the prior pattern after the initial interest waned.
The AI did fine except for people who just have a thing against the very concept and can't resist the urge to be all vegan about it like you. It stayed pretty much on model and got us some art depicting characters in ways the comic never will. It complemented the drawings nicely, which aren't on model but also aren't constrained by a dataset that has to mostly draw on the comic, which has a deficit of motorboating.

By the way, what font do you use for the speech bubbles? I remember long ago there was a search for what it was, but I checking in whenever it was finally found.

No clue on the font, I just cut and paste letters to form the words I need.
It's one of the Blambot fonts.
Heph uses some proprietary fonts, but for my AIslop pics I use Blambot Casual for the humans and Letterbot for the robots. Looks nearly identical.
