Quirked up softcore p0rn

Just saw Poor Things (more like prostitute THINGS) and that was so degrading for Emma. How desperate of a cry for help is it to produce and star in that trash? I knew going into it it had racy scenes but not for that it was literally the entire movie, just being a complete bawd showing bush and crack like is she okay?

Arizona anons sometimes pop in here with stories. I'm in Phoenix but was too young and from the poor part of the city so have no direct stories. But I have heard stories from old farts from Scottsdale. Everyone in Scottsdale really does have an Emma Stone story. The gist of it was that the parents were having problems and she started acting out, it turned into promiscuity around middle school and the parents killed two birds with one stone and the mom left with her to LA for high school where she could put her promiscuity to good use. Up until A-List when she broke out as a big star she would come back to Phoenix and party with her rich school friends where random chads hooked up with her. She stopped coming to Phoenix when she became a big star because why would she come back.

Thanks, that tracks. Middle school = 15yo, born '88, her first TV credit is 2004. EASY A is about a bawd image, and here her magnum opus is about NYMPHOMANIA freeing her to be more than society's rules. It's her artist's statement LMAO. Surprised Margot Robbie is 2yrs younger than her.

I'm disappointed nobody in the thread kept discussing Emma or even post pictures of her.
In contrast, all Madame Webb threads are about Dakota Johnson and we roast her and her prostitutedom. Images of Dakota everywhere.

Idk, I just have Emma gossip and nowhere to ever put it. Cinemaphile argues about sex too much, but when it comes to porn everyone is civilized. It's bizarre.

Emma Stone in one the few actresses that never worked with Harvey Weinstein a doesn't have a single photo with him, not even at award shows.

Her parents are ultra rich, she's like Taylor Swift, a career made by her parents.

Much like the actress, Emma Stone gossip is boring and that's why it doesn't get traction here. But that's what probably makes it true. Most of it is she is weird or that she got drunk at a house party and fooled around with some guy in the bathroom or a friends room - which is basically how 90% of college hookups end up. Then when she became famous her publicist kept her on lockdown and industry people rarely talk about On-Set drama or who slept with a producer.

            So what's your gossip, anon?

Just what I thought. Everyone claims these movies are so daring and sexually explicit. But no pussy lips, butthole, or even simulated blowjob means the whole movie catered to her sheltered and prudish view of sexuality, even if it doesn't serve the character.

Its quite a bizarre phenomenon, people are screeching about "modern films" being full of unnecesary sex scenes, but statistically speaking, there are less sex scenes now than decades prior, and if anything, and this is pretty anecdotical, the sex scenes ive seen in recent film seem less "unnecesary" too

even if it's just one soft porn-like scene with an explicit content is worse than 100 innuendos. And I don't say worse because I'm a bigot, I actually don't care about porn itself or erotic movies. It's the normalization of things that shouldn't be normalized that disgusts me.

its about free will. see sports/UFC or anything else that takes a physical toll. if you force someone to fight in a ring for money its obviously fricked up, if someone of their own free will trains to become a fighter out of joy for the sport its a good thing.

where the movie fail at is treating sex as a shallow transaction, they briefly touch on the human and emotional connection that elevates sex to a more fulfilling experience than using a fleshlight.

The ending of poor things didn't make sense. They put a goats brain in her husbands body as a "punishment" and a final har har, but like, assuming they disposed of his brain the husband is dead. He is not being humiliated in any way. They didn't punish him, all they did was put a poor goat into a human body which I assume the goat can't be too happy about.

I've tried explaining this to people but no one seems to understand why it doesn't work, they just see the husbands body acting like a goat and assume the husband is being ridiculed when its just a goat being victimized

      Anonymous

Generally speaking, the defiling of someone's body after death is seen in poor taste and an offense. You can say his brain doesn't care, that his spirit is in the afterlife or reincarnated or whatever, and people still want to treat bodies with some respect - or frick them if they have ill intent. It's part of our cultures.
I guess Zoroastrians letting their bodies rot in towers is an exception but even then they do it for a weird reason and with a ritual they think is fine.

okay I can see the desecration being the humiliation, guess I just find it unsatisfying. kinda how after a villain murders a characters wife, burns his home and rapes his daughter, then he just gets shot in the head and dies in a second. a lot more satisfying when you see the villain plans fall apart or dies an agonizing slow death

so the takeaway is that a woman, unfettered by socialization, is capable of everything a man is (conveniently ignoring the demented premise of brain transplanting and that Bella doesn't seem hindered by biology)
that does sound too straightforward. Am i missing something cause yorgos' movies go over my head lol

the very basic takeaway is that women are subjugated by muh evil patriarchy and therefore poor victims of men (who deserve to die in an asylum or act like a goat forever). Society in itself is le bad because they should be free to be rude and jerk off in public, frick everything and then have a beta provider cuckold to marry them and paying for they lesbian lover (the only one that really gives her an orgasm). Oh, don't miss that being charitable and feeling bad about poor Black folk dying in pits, wanting to change the world is socialist (they repeat it 4 times at least) and that's a good thing.
Of course, I can't believe Yorgos to be such a pleb so I think there's a complex subtext of Freudian psychology (the child sexual impulses triggering all the people here), themes related to fatherhood/creation, the limits of science etc etc. The black lesbian repeating she's a socialist felt almost like a parody of woke activists. But even if I'm right and Yorgos isn't a full blown feminist moron, the vast majority of the public is reading only the blatant woke propaganda from this movie

Only one lesbian scene. The mudslime Ramy's character is betrothed to Emma's but they never frick, and the literal homosexual Black person Jerrod Carmichael is in some comically bag dialogue driven scenes. Besides Willem they're the only dudes in the movie who don't frick Emma

I don’t even care about the porn aspect. Just explain to me why it’s ok to feature a movie where a child’s mind in an adult body is having a ton of sex and that’s okay. Meanwhile dudes in their late twenties banging 18-21 year olds are called groomers.

      Anonymous

I agree. Inb4 /misc/, but this movie is a hipster chess piece on the Weimar agenda, using "gothic fantasy" as novelty to smuggle, deliver and plant pedo ideas into the mainstream.

It's also dreadfully unoriginal art school hackery. What if Barbie were Edward Scissorhands but sex was her agency? Reminiscent of that horrible 00s movie Thirteen, that existed to initiate and groom young girls into a bawd life, and because Emma Stone is running on the last fumes of her youth, this is a low effort to score points by imprinting on zoomers that fricking is a female's best outlet for expression. At least many potential viewers gleaned that it was gross and edgy. Surprised Marina didn't cameo, seeing that Dafoe has a portrait of "her as Christ" on his study.

This is also what I found the most unsettling. I always thought the purpose of age of consent is to protect the children's innocence while they develop and avoid predators taking advantage of their naitivity. So seeing what is supposed to be a toddler jerking off and having sex is really disturbing.

My smooth brain take on the movie as I have no fricking idea about cinema.

I enjoyed the dialogues a lot and the settings, props and costumes were great. The camera was weird at times which was interesting. If the movie was trying to push a message I didn't get it. The only thing I got is that it's easy to be a pretty woman because you can prostitute yourself to solve all your problems and improve your life. The idea to put a baby's brain in an adult's body is abhorrent and seeing it have sex is morally questionable. I would argue that this is worse than e-girls. I didn't get Bella at all. She starts as a selfish and cruel child, leaves her family just to have sex and see the world and suddenly she feels sad because the world is bad. The same girl who was excited to see her new friend getting thrown out of the boat and with no empathy suddenly grows a moral conscience after seeing dead babies. She would have probably killed them herself for fun a month before that. She even wanted to punch a baby to shut it for fricks sake. But everything ends well, the cuck from university stais loyal to her, they kill Bella's father because he is an butthole with no consequences and they have a happy weird family ending. I didn't enjoy the plot that much. The only character I like were the cynic and the old lady from the boat. I don't regret watching it because I enjoy weird stuff from time to time, but I wouldn't recommend this to anyone I know and I have no intention
    to ever see this again.

She is rapidly developing, it is striaght up saind she is. Besides, people can have conflincting emotions, most people hate seeing sad shit but news and shows about about the most violent crimes ever are always extrmely succesful

        Anonymous

        >She is rapidly developing, it is striaght up saind she is.
I know and I didn't believe that as she still behaved like a child and she still didn't know how to walk properly in the previous chapter. And at that point her violent tendencies had been reinforced several times. She killed the frog, squeeze the eyes, threw tantrums and used violence to get her way, tried to punch a baby, cheered the attemp to murder her friend... She might develop fast but I no point I saw her being even slightly moral. I can't remember a single thing she did before that point that would have been considered a good action. So understand that it took me by surprise when she actually cared about human suffering.

          Anonymous

          >She might develop fast but I no point I saw her being even slightly moral.
Wich is accurate, children can be cruel is not just a saying, the parts of your brain responsible for empathy take longer to develope than the rest, many children kill bugs or small animals (at least the ones not inmediately recognized as "cute"), because the curiosity to see the animal squished trumps the empathy for its life

            Anonymous

I understand that and I believe that portrayal of child cruelty correct. Children are vicious and evil. They lie, hurt and only think about their present self-satisfaction, following their instincts. It just seemed out of character for me.

Like said, people can and have contradictory feelings. For example, there are millions of people who watch content about cops killing people and son, they get a kick out of that, they can say it is because it is justice being served but that is just to try and rationalize the feeling that they do crave for violence. Does that mean that they are bad people? Not really.
Bella just doesn't have a society filter, she enjoys violence and at the same time she can feel compassion.

For the I must pucnh that baby scene, everyone, every single person had a moment like this, wether it was a baby crying in a plane, or a dog that won't stop barking. The difference is that we have filters and we know it is not socially acceptable to say these things out loud, but like i've said, Bella lacks this filter, this is kinda the main point of the movie

            >what fi grown woman had no society hangups whatsoever

I see your point and I get it. But understand that I haven't seen her until that point to care about another human being (other that god). So it took me by surprise and made it seem out of character for me. I was like "Now you care? Really?" I believed her to be a heartless animal. It was too sudden for me. Even a single scene of her caring about the well being of anyone would have prevented me from having this impression of her.

The other anon is right that she's rapidly developing, and I don't have a problem with her growing a conscience, but that scene definitely felt forced. They covered up sloppy character writing with loud music. There should have been a lot more build-up, maybe a few "the world is fricked up scenes" leading to her having an epiphany, rather than her changing on a dime.

I don't have a problem with sex or even the protagonist being a literal prostitute, but I did find the movie to be a bit annoying. Not 100% bad by any means, but it's one of those faux-cinema films that's designed for an ADHD audience. We've been getting a lot of those. Almost every scene is designed to be quirky. The humor/pacing of the dialogue is designed for a modern audience. It doesn't have superheroes or explosions in it but it's not a movie you're meant to take all that seriously. It's something you consume and then forget the day after. Not something I'd likely ever rewatch.
