Alastor's first appearance is superb. The way he's jet black compared to everyone, creepy static noise, somewhat animalistic movements like tilting his head. Also his pilot voice is much better, he sounds like a flamboyant gay in the series.
Yeah in the pilot he actually sounds old timey. Now the series has him saying things like "frick" and "that's the tea" and he just sounds like a normal guy with the radio effect.
Alastor would've been alive for the rise of 'frick' becoming a swear, though it wouldn't be thrown around as casually as it is today. 'That's the tea' seems to originate from black drag/LGBT communities in the 60s though so yeah it's a bit anachronistic of him to use it.

It's obvious, that Alastor is trying to establish himself as a father figure to Charlie in order to influence her.
In zoophobia he was a servant to the main villain, who was a powerful female character similar to Roo (or that evil character they showed in the opening scene).
If they're going off his initial inspiration he won't be the main but an ally to the main. And imo that would make more sense for his character. They introduced the concept of a very powerful primordial evil in the start of the show, I don't know why that would play a passive role in the story. Especially with all the weird eyes they keep showing in the background of key scenes.

If you're complaining about Alastor saying "that's the tea" you should hear the Japanese version of the song where he straight up calls Vox a menhera, which is really modern slang originating from "mental health" in English and is basically an insulting way to call somebody mentally ill. It's especially used towards attention seeking types on social media who're always sadposting or what have you.
