Did it borrow more from Raideen like some claim to defend it from Eva rip-off claims or did it borrow more from Eva?

does it matter? no one even talks about the actual show
Watch it and then tell us if it did
I've watched the show years ago. I have to watch all of Raideen to confirm the claim but Raideen is boring.
>Raideen is boring
>haven't watched all
Well frick off then you tourist homosexual.
It did borrow from both, but at the end of the day it's its own thing
Having seen all three, the simple answer is both.
The angel's egg influence everyone used to go on about seems purely aesthetic though.
>if it came out after eva its a ripoff
I wish americans were banned from the internet
seethe harder, contrarian cuck
When will you 2016gays frick off forever
shit bait, kys
As an american there was nothing contrarian about what he said. American fans tend to look at eva popularly through a vacuum.
the latter, the "muh raideen reboot" was a cope from the director who didn't want to get mocked for plagiarism (spoiler: it happened anyway)
Lets not throw stones.
Sure is funny how people call this an Eva ripoff and in the Rebuilds ideas that happened to be used in this show (protagonist in a time bubble, universe being rebooted) are in those movies
This.
Rebuilds are escapism garbage
nah they are pretty good, there's nothing "escapist" about them
How is waiting on the seaside for cute mommy gf with glasses to come and save you not escapist ?
Holy shit grow the frick up. Your still this bitter about an anime that told you to go outside?
not him , but are you mentally challenged? shinji literally changed the world at will as he sees fit in the end..that's escapist as frick.
it's a fricking reset ending.
a reset endings are always escapist in nature, worth mentioning how 3.0+1.0 not only fails at the message that the original wanted to share but also fails with how the characters were written, how it used infodumping when those movies had more than enough time to not do that and the overall story in general.
so no, rebuild isn't good..
>a reset endings
ah here we go again, you are that moron
imagine missing the point of the ending this badly
if that's what you take from the movies then that's your problem, besides, do you even know what escapism is?
>there are people who defend the rebuilds
I guess I shouldn't be surprised with the amount of shilling SEED gets nowadays.
This. Watching first couple of RahXephon episodes I had a very sensible feeling of deja vu, like I saw that shit in some similar anime. And quickly realized: yep, that's literally third rebuild.
You know what show also borrowed from Raideen? Evangelion.
I am so tired of everything getting called an Eva clone
>see one thread
>GOSH STOP IT
I've seen it for longer than you've been alive, new gay.
It is a typical MOTW super robot with teen drama, a Raideen rip off mecha and timeline resetting. Beside the Raideen/Rahxephon mecha, the rest of it are typical fiction tropes you can easily stumble upon.
lmao that meme infograph
that's funny, I felt that Asuka ripped off more from Quess than Kasha.
>I felt that Asuka ripped off more from Quess than Kasha.
She is. I always thought of her being similar to quess too. Asuka can be a rip off of more than one character. Anno is good at taking other's ideas that he loves & throwing them at the wall to see if it'll stick. And typically it does.
>a rip off
God shut the frick up.
>>a rip off
Ok inspired then.
Calling Rahxephon an EVA rip-off is like calling CoD a Doom rip-off. There’s this thing called genre see
>eva is the doom of anime
I would say it's more of a half-life situation.
maybe of mecha anime
in terms of influence I guess Gundam would be like Doom and Eva would be like Halo or Unreal Tournament
idk what games to compare RahXephon to since were making these comparisons… Prey, maybe?
in terms of anime in general then Naruto would be like Call Of Duty
>Gundam would be like Doom
Doom = Mazinger
Gundam = Quake
Eva = Half Life
RahXephon = Fear
that makes sense too
love Fear though, such a cool game. Same with RahXephon honestly, they are both underappreciated.
Gasaraki is probably one of the best shows to have ever aired.
Which one is Duke3D?
Macross?
>Which one is Duke3D?
Getter Robo Go.
Forever would be Arc.
>eva is the doom of anime
Fricking kek. Can you play Eva on a pregnancy test?
>eva is the doom of anime
Yes
>the latter, the "muh ideon reboot" was a cope from the director who didn't want to get mocked for plagiarism (spoiler: it happened anyway)
Also, like Shinji though, Cosmo had two love interests: Kasha (left) and Kitty (right).
Kasha was hardly a typical love interest.
>Rebuild 4 is likely the best mecha work that Anno will ever make.
As the biggest Anno apologist I know, I think Gunbuster is better in terms of /m/, nothing surpasses the Gattai sequence.
I’m not an Anno apologist, in fact I think he’s very overrated. Gunbuster is an example of something he made that does not merit the acclaim it is given.
Purely in terms of mecha action I would say that it is just barely as good as the best parts of Evangelion (the whole franchise). Obari is definitely the best part of Gunbuster.
Meh not much stuck with me with any of gunbuster's sakuga action. But asuka's fight with the mpe's in eoe to me is peak /m/ of the entirety of anno's bibliography. But that's a tourist choice.
yeah Unit 2 vs MP Evas was likely the best part of the original series.
well the ending of Gunbuster IS clearly the best part, so no surprise it gets acclaim for it
>brooo the climax was the most exciting part
These are the "people" saying "X show isn't deep".
I never said most exciting 😐
why are you lying and misquoting me?
You two go watch Escaflowne, peak mecha animation
I feel like 90% of Gunbuster's acclaim is because it stuck the landing, which anime almost never do. Had a fantastic ending AND it was in black and white, which lets people tell themselves it must be DEEP
>AND it was in black and white, which lets people tell themselves it must be DEEP
moron.
>why is anyone complaining about similarities or discrepancies when Anno is credited as a writer for RahXephon
>Chief Director: Yutaka Izubuchi
>Screenplay:
>Chiaki J. Konaka (6 episodes)
>Fumihiko Takayama (eps 2, 19)
>Hiroshi Ohnogi (5 episodes)
>Ichiro Okouchi (5 episodes)
>Mitsuo Iso (ep 15)
>Shou Aikawa (ep 9)
>Yoji Enokido (4 episodes)
>Yukari Kiryu (eps 3, 10)
>Yutaka Izubuchi (ep 1)
I am not sure I can find anno there mate
My mistake then
either way it’s not a bad (or escapist) show
I loved RahXephon's OST. Some of the songs were just so beautiful and somber.
There was at least one shot taken directly from Eva presented under the same context with the same archetypes so I'll say the latter.
Evalikes/Eva clones thread?
My favorite kind of thread!
Some of the designs and Music were actually top-tier for this show.
I don't care that if it's an Eva rip-off or not, I care that's a terribly bungled show that does nothing of interest for most of the run time. As cryptic as Evangelion could be, and its original ending leaves a lot to be desired purely on a practical "what is actually happening to the climax of the plot here" level, it's still a much better constructed show where shit actually happens and has reasons for happening. Characters have proper arcs that make sense, there's a conspiracy with tangible, if absolutely butt frick ridiculous, goals, and the relationships have real weight.
RahXephon reveals this entire debacle is the result of some guy from another dimension just casually deciding to make a system to rewrite reality to see if he could in the last episode and act as if this suffices for the nonsense it's been throwing at you. Absolutely nothing that happens for the vast majority of the show has any real effect on the climax, which is the MC being told it's simply his destiny to Get In The Robot and remake the world and him going "okay fine" and then fighting with a woman who has already explicitly stated she wants him to remake the world over who gets to remake the world.
There are interesting bits and episodes, but its ultimately completely overwhelmed by the sheer mediocrity and lack of impact to anything in the story. It ultimately seems to exist solely to have a story where Misato wins through a convoluted and ultimately under explored time dilation plot device. It gives off all the shallow imagery that something is going on, but refuses to actually dedicate any time to having anything actually happen with the characters. It's not the worst show, it's just sorely disappointing if you're actually looking for an entertaining Eva rip-off.
Your personal and subjective disinterest is not a valid critique of a work
The RahXephon itself and the Vermillion are incredible mech designs. The RahXephon itself is in the top 5 of the 21st century.
yeah i agree with most of this
i also think haruka easily had the worst chemistry with ayato out of all the girls that liked him, i feel like people only cared about her winning because of the age gap thing
I like that one interpretation of it as an eva homage is that things would have worked out if misato had just fricked the issues out of shinji.
>still no translated rahxephon ps2 game
FRICK
