My first real exposure to Spider-Man was, like many, the Raimi trilogy. So I was completely unaware of the controversy of Natural Webbing to Machine webbing until the Amazing Spider-Man came out and made a big deal of it. Internally I think Natural Webbing makes sense as part of a power for a spider theme. But I'm curious to know about the discourse of the time.
>When the Raimi trilogy came out, were your Pro or Anti, Natural Webbing?
>Was this because of an affinity for the comics prior to the movie? Or have the comics changed your opinion after the fact?
I think natural webbing is ridiculous but not as much as infinite webbing inside a small contraption the size of a button
>infinite
That's the thing. It isn't and always was part of the narrative that Peter actually had to work around his supply of webbing.
Simple.
>Natural webbing = fake fans
>synthetic webbing =real fans
yes
It was a different time you unfortunate homosexual.
natural webbing works well if you can show Peter's intelligence and ingenuity in other ways, like the movies did. Personally, i think it makes sense for man with spider powers to produce his own webbing
People hate organic webbing because if “takes away from being a genius”.
Even though most media portray Peter Parker as a moron who needs other smarter person’s help even when he has mechanical webbing.
Personally I don’t care which one he has.
I legitimately do not care. The next Spider-Man reboot could have webs come outta his fricking wiener and if it was in something well written I'd like it
I always thought natural webbing was just natural for getting spider powers, but I don’t really care
What I really want to know is, how does Kick-Ass feel about the Spider-Man movies post-Raimi
As a kid I just accepted it as a hazard of film adaptation because they got everything else pretty right besides.
I used to like in these threads the “geniuses” who invented a compromise solution where the natural webbing drizzles impotently out of his wrist veganas, and he needs the shooters to focus the strand. lmao I cannot imagine a worse possible decision.
What a weird way to say you're butthurt.
You came up with a bad fricking idea anon but at least it’s funny to imagine
>wrist pussies
>mechanical webbing always worked well, both as a narrative device (breaks, needs to be refilled, creative use of it, without them, et) and as a character trait (Peter is a genius and his intellect is an important part of his character)
Organic web? That's Venom not Spider-Man.
Synthetic webs are a product of a bygone time.
Like they have him clairvoyance through his spider sense but they can't let him produce silk?
How does that make sense?
machine webbing is an overcomplication of the spider powers. it's a very minor one, but it's also so minor that it never makes any sort of difference so why even bother.
besides, gadgets are for characters without powers so they can compete with the characters who do have powers. Peter has powers. he doesn't need gadgets.
mechanical webbing always seemed bizarre to me. It's like if superman needed a jet pack to fly.
More than that, webs are the only thing that make him a spider. If he'd been bitten by a radioactive gecko he could've still made web shooters and no one would know the difference.
That hits the nail on the head pretty well.
I feel like if you're gonna ditch natural webbing and replace it with mechanical webs you might as well ditch the sticky fingers and replace them with tiny suction cups. And while we're at it, why not just get rid of his spider-sense and replace it with a thermal heat sensor that he built himself? Let's get rid of the spider-bite thing too and have him get his powers through a serum he invented. After all, we can't have people thinking he's STUPID or something, can we?
It could be worse
The web could come out of his ass like a real spider
net spider-man reboot should have a tube running from his ass to a device on his wrist that shoots the web
Are there any comics ever in which he has natural webbing? Or is it solely an invention of those movies?
