Back when? 2011? Songs about trauma existed way before that. You didn't care because it had nothing to do with lesbians. Hell the fries song is a trauma dump too but no one here cares because it's not about lesbians.
Yes, it did. Even the absurd ones like Yankee Doodle's message was an insult to the American Colonists, or many French revolutionary songs were intended to be propaganda. Even if we're discounting the political ones, most songs did have a message of either enjoying life like campfire songs. Not a random ass trauma dump in the middle.
Those are absurdly flimsy goalposts, modernity means nothing, but the general consensus is that the modern age starts at the Industrial Revolution, not the end of WW2
>End of WW2
I'd put a distinction on it, the end of WW2 begins the end of the Old World ties, and into a new era of social and cultural change.
First song in human history is a trauma dump about a gay king failing a resurrection quest for his cave man bara top. Lines are dedicated explicitly to how moths eat your penis in the after life. This is the big NO for the entire song.
You have been provably wrong this entire time. And your missing out on good music. Which is arguably worse.
? The OP says random trauma dump. If your song is intended of the message of mourning then that's fine. But if your song is literally something else with a random ass trauma dump, then it reeks of the illness modernity

Did you even listen to the song or did you just come here to bitch? The entire song is consistent thematically, it's all about Marceline's problems with PB.

It was a trauma dump. It was a teasing song against PB, until Marceline gets PTSD from their past relationship. From a teasing song to Bubblegum, and maybe even flirty to a trauma dump song. I wouldn't have any problems if the song was just Marceline teasing PB, but she trauma dumps.

So? This is pretty normal, especially for a song. Marceline wanted to express her frustration in a safe way by teasing but ended up escalating and spilling her real emotions.

Oh, the song is good, fitting for the character. The main point still is that Marceline just trauma dumps, as OP says.
Fitting for Marceline, but again I don't like trauma dumps, just stick to the main point of the song.

PB asked her to stop because she was teasing her about killing her then she plays victim about her being a controlling bitch in their past. It's not normal she just randomly started trauma dumping onto Finn and Jake.

Which she forgets and junps back into PB's arms like the basic bitch she is. R&B, Blues, and other songs served as a reminder fo stay away from women like PB. Marcy was just being another whiny arthoe on Tumblr lke Sugar is IRL.

OP says trauma dump. I mention that Marceline's song is fitting, but nonetheless it turns a teasing song to a trauma dump. Again, stick to one message, and don't muddle it.

Hey homosexual, not everyone is a braindead loser who watches cartoons for escapism like you. Some people think it's interesting and refreshing to see something serious and personal tackled in a show like this. Though admittedly I never much related to whatever Sugar's problems were in particular, but there's nothing wrong with the principle.
There is no substance in rich kids whining through a cartoon character.

If there is conflict, there is substance. A character expressing their true anguish they don't normally show in a song is a textbook example of giving them depth. Sorry you're too retarded to even dare to think outside of your comfort zone labels for even a second.
This is the episode when AT start declining. Stop being about wacky adventures with bizarre solutions just to focus on feelings and being wholesome. Not to mention this episode started the whole Bubline shit, all thanks to Sugar for setting the first nail to end this show.
NTA but between the constant shipping bullshit Sugar forced into the show, PB's edgy pragmatism going hog wild but more sadgirl lesbian songs, both Sugar & Muto trying to replace Finn & Jake with PB & Marcy's DeviantART daddy issue dramabombs, and said bullshit culminating into the Fionna & Cake shitfest. What's the lie here?
PB doesn't sing sadgirl lesbian songs, and the majority of every season is not taken up by her and Marceline's relationship. Not to mention that Marceline's dad appears like 4 times in the show total.
>Nightosphere Eps >PB eps constantly trying to wooby her bad actions because without "Muh Marcy" she's a sadgirl mess with Marcy singing songs about it (if you were confused again about that) >They get back together in S2 with Nightosphere and just coast for the seasons onward.
And the daddy issues isn't just Hunsoon but also Simon/Ice King which was even worse. Again this was just Sugar writing another edgy deviantArt fanfic revisionism that killed the show with Bubbline and deepest lore trauma drama. It did ruin AT & killed the Adventure in Adventure Time just like it killed Steven Universe in S3+, Future, & The Movie. Same shit killed Fionna & Cake too since instead of Adventures, it just Adulting is Hard/Trauma Drama with Allegri & Muto.
>They get back together in S2 with Nightosphere and just coast for the seasons onward.
...what? This is just blatantly fase.
As for everything else, well, that sure is a lot of buzzwords to dismiss everything about those storylines and also ignore everything else about the show.
>Nightosphere Eps
Those episodes are about Finn and Marcy, it's literally just proto Hotel Transylvania. And I'm saying this as someone who doesn't even like Sugar's "dramatic" writing.

As for everything else, well, that sure is a lot of buzzwords to dismiss everything about those storylines and also ignore everything else about the show.
First Nightosphere ep (S2) was about her sadgirl daddy issues with Hunsoon that later also spilled over with Ice King/Simon while also trying to allegory said distance with PB. Season 3 kept at it with What Was Missing since Sugar kept patting herself on the back for a GLAAD award but messed up the message with Incendium since Finn is weird for the same things PB does with Marcy's T-Shirt. Again if PB & Marcy never got together that be fine but Sugar was practically forcing them together again when the same reasons Marcy shouldn't be with Ash, Finn, etc by Sugar's own writing was clear as day, especially after forcing it deeper with the S4 Nightosphere eps. >Inb4 Finncel
Sugar kept playing apologencia for PB through Marcy when even by her writing they shouldn't of been together outside of her insessant shipping which ruined AT (and also SU too at points). Finn shouldn't be with Marcy or PB because they can't really both of them can't love or treat anyone like anything but a fling/tool.

>since Finn is weird for the same things PB does with Marcy's T-Shirt.
Because there was a chance for Marceline to reciprocate PB's feelings, while Finn needed to move on. You could say it's a double standard, but the show did treat both situations with sympathy and I'm pretty sure Sugar didn't intend for Finn to break up with FP later.
Also by the time Sugar was still involved, PB barely did anything immortal that we knew of, so there was little to play advocate for. And if anything Marceline was there to help redeem her, rather than make excuses for her.

>Treating both with sympathy >What Was Missing instead glosses over Finn for a Bubbline Song and treats him like a weirdo. >When even Incendium, the common ep people use to defend Sugar treated him like a joke >Sugar also wrote Burning Low with PB trying to sabotage the relationship too. >Even the later episode where PB was shown to have experimented on PB was based in Sugars notes in Burning Low.
And while she didn't write it, we already had Too Young in S3 treating him like a joke but Sugar saying that Marcy were destined for each other irinically for the same reasons as Too Young said no. For the evil parts, we had Goliad & the above Burning Low (which she did write) in S4 when she went even harder into Bubbline shipping. Again all of this would be fine if it wasn't so hypocritically spiteful. >TL;DR
Finn shouldn't be with Bubblegum but Sugar constantly breaks and bends the story to force Bubbline, contradicting not only AT's plot but sometimes her own writing as shown with Burning Low. That's not just a double standard, it's the textbook definition of an immature and inadequate writer ruining a story for trashy tropes and borderline self-insert bullshit, doubly so since AT wasn't her show/story to begin with.
