I've started to watch these films. I've seen I, II, and III. I'm watching IV next. Should I just go in order? My personal ranking so far is II > I >> III.
I'm reading that the 2018 version is quite good but feel like I'm skipping too much if I watch that. Thoughts?
1
2018 is just alternative Halloween 2 you literally don't miss anything if you watch it right now.
The continuity is a frick. 3 doesn't fit in anywhere. You have 1 2 4 5 6. Then you have 1 2 H20 Resurrection. Then you have 1 2018 Kills Ends, and yes that's right it also pretends 2 didn't happen.
Halloween Ends > Halloween (2018) > Halloween Kills
Why is H2O the third? Is it because Laurie's in it? Are the Rob Zombie versions shit?
These are the new ones right? I have reservations about watching these too soon.
Are these worth watching?
I'm most likely going to go in order. So 5 and 6 will be next. Unless they are totally egregious, I figure why not? At least they have Michael in them. Something III didn't have (I didn't know going into it) which is why I ranked it last so far.
I liked the Rob Zombie movies. I thought the Laurie Strode actress was fantastic. Also a fun Easter egg with the lgf you'll see in 5 coming back to play the new Annie as a teenager.
And that's not to mention the Rob Zombie movies which are completely disconnected from anything. Only the names are the same.
All you need is the first and third films if you really prefer atmosphere and suspense over kills and gore. Halloween II is fine if you want to see a continuation of the night of the first film, but the sister angle is moronic. If you care only about Michael killing people endlessly and want some Comedy, I'd recommend Halloween (2018) Halloween Kills, or the two Rob Zombie films. (4, 5, 6, H20, and Resurrection are garbage and easily the worst). Halloween Ends had a lot of potential but they ruined it on purpose.
1 > H20 > 2018 Reboot > Zombie 07 > Return > Revenge > 2 > Kills > Curse > Ends > 3 > Zombie 09 > Resurrection

Ranking:

>Kills that high
>H2 that high
>Revenge above Return
>6 (theatrical) over 6 (producer’s cut)
>H20 that low
Actually a fricking terrible list. Consider the following: car grinder
Brainlet detected.
4 is the best sequel.
>putting 2 over 1
That's a hot take. 2 was alright but I wasn't super crazy about it, I preferred 4.
>I'm reading that the 2018 version is quite good but feel like I'm skipping too much if I watch that.
2018 isn't connected to any movie besides the original, it's part of a different timeline.
OP here. I started 4 and realized I had seen it before.
>H20
I actually just started this now and it caught my interest right away. That first scene was great (with JGL).
H20 and Resurrection are the most fun to watch because they have the late 90s early 2000s horror movie atmosphere sheen.
1 > 2-5 > 6-7 > Rob Zombie's > 8 > new ones
78
Halloween 2018
Halloween 3 = Halloween Ends

H1 > H3 > H4 > H2 > 2018 > RZ > H5 > RZ2 > H6 > H20 > Ends = Kills >>>>>>>>> Resurrection
Halloween 1, 2 ,3 and 4 are the best
I unironically loved Ends, there’s just something about the ZoomerDoomer Driver-Lite 2edgy4u atmosphere that stuck with me. Would have probably loved it if it was a stand alone movie without Michael in it, paradoxically Michael should be the *best* part of a Halloween movie but they misused his character so much in the new trilogy that he became a nuisance rather than a blessing.
Halloween 1 and 2. Those are the only Halloween movies that anyone cares about.
*Halloween 1, 2, 3, and 4.
Dang it's been a year since the latest Halloween movie came out. Feels like it came out a few months ago. If they do another one, where do you go from there?
Synthwave grimdark horror anthology ala H3 minus the cheese
4 scared the frick out of me as a kid because it was the first time that Michael was exclusively chasing after someone my age.
1 and 3 are the only ones worth anyone’s time now though
Halloween 1, 2, 4, and 4 are the only actual kinos ones that are worth watching. 2007 one was okay also I guess.
*Meant Halloween 1, 2, 3, and 4
Any sequel after Halloween 2 is stupid because there's no way anyone would survive a fire at this level in the end of the movie, and yet in Halloween 4 we're supposed to believe both Loomis and Michael did. Season of the Witch works because it was its own thing, but calling it "Halloween 3" was moronic. So basically only the first 3 are worth watching which makes sense because they're the only ones John Carpenter had input on. 4,5, and 6 feel like made-for-TV movies. H20 is way too polished, Resurrection isn't even a Horror movie, and the two Rob Zombie films are Comedies. Haven't seen the recent trilogy.
People are too hard on 4, it's kino as frick. Everything else after that is actually awful though.
Michael is explicitly supernatural in the thorn trilogy (4-6), H20 was originally written to acknowledge those sequels but it got cut at the last minute, and the new trilogy is a direct sequel to the original.
Rob Zombie's films are my favorite, no fricks given
