Yeah, I'm not sure I can even blame the zoomies for this. Back in the 00s you really did have to torrent files to even watch things in shitty quality but these days you may as well just stream it unless you need a higher quality version. The process is just simpler with little drawback to torrenting.

You do get bonus points for leaving torrents seeding, even if no one grabs anything from you. If you want to get actual upload traffic on torrents, generally you need to grab them soon after they are uploaded. Some people eveb set up RSS feeds to have their client automatically receive new torrents within minutes of being uploaded. It's a lot of fricking around, but it will get you some upload stats.

I've been getting some bonus points, but it'll still amount to 15 bonus points per hour, earning like 2GB per day. Having to actively monitor what torrents I keep running 24/7 and wasting HDD space just to comply with autists even though I'm not actually uploading due to competing with >9000 seedboxes per torrent makes IPT overall an inferior experience for me.
I much preferred my experience of downloading some obscure old movie and then sliding my upload limit to 1000 Mbit whenever I saw some fellow connoisseur peer downloading the same movie, or hit&running whenever I fricking felt like it because something was popular enough anyway.
I do understand. Private trackers are a pain in the ass. What I ended up doing was renting a seedbox for about 6 months, and grabbing big torrents, and popular torrents early, and getting like 29TB of upload from them. Now I don't have to worry about my ratio at all. I can grab whatever I want.

It was like $9/month or something. I just looked on reddit, there's a sub for seedboxes. I saw one for 7 euros/month, that had 10gbps speed, 1TB HD space, and 6TB traffic per month. That ain't bad. I hate that it ends up being pay2pirate, though.
Whatever you do, don't let your download stat get larger than your upload stat. Even if it means you have to wait to download something you want. Getting into ratio trouble is not a place you want to go.
