So brad bird banned merchandising for this movie and only employed street people?

The only thing I know is that they had made an actual wine for the movie but the bottles couldn't be sold because they had a Remy, a cartoon character on the label, which is illegal in the US.

Remy just puts on an act because he watched too much human tv and wants to feel special.

i get that french are dirty and all, but some of the dirty writing doesn't belong in a Pixar film. Was a reference to vegetable masturbation neccesary?

Not everyone is a puritan like you, dirty jokes in kid movies are the best.

Actually a good move; it was already great at the time, but now you had 10 years worth of shit Pixar to contrast-boost your first impression of it.

That said, I'd like for the full story of Jan Pinkava being replaced with Brad Bird to eventually get out. I'm hoping it wasn't something like the Shannon Tindle/Kubo and the Two Strings sort of deal, but it's probably similar.

Best Pixar movie by a significant margin. Truly a work of art and it's honestly amazing it turned out this well since Brad Bird was basically brought in to save a sinking ship.

the characters from Cars 1 (McQueen, Sally, Doc, Mater, Luigi, Guido, Sheriff, Flo, rest of Radiator Springs citizens, "The King", Chick Hicks, Mack, Harv the unseen agent) are better than the characters in this film (Remy, Linguini, Skinner, Colette, Django, Emile, Ego, kitchen staff)

A true masterpiece, I miss when a film having the Pixar label automatically meant it would be great.

i can't stand this movie' screenplay. The way the characters talk to each other and the comedy style are annoying. The french soundtrack gets tedious/samey after a while too

    >"ugh, your sleeves look like you threw up on them"
worst female lead in a Pixar film up to that point. Worse than Atta, Jessie, Dory, Elastigirl, Violet and Sally

It's one of my favorite moments in animation. How fluidly his face shifts from boredom to confusion to bewilderment to panic. The music, the shot, everything worked.

i can't connect with the characters. Other than Linguini, who is a wet noodle, everyone is either snobbish, abrasive or cheeky. It's a boring bunch of characters lacking depth or truly likeable personalities. They aren't bad persons, but they aren't likeable either

Yeah I guess it must be hard for you to relate to a character who enjoys life and seeks to be great at something.
