I would recommend watching the sub if you watched the dub just to compare, they removed a lot of jokes in the dub (like the Speedy complaining about the background art then just removing it and the narrator's face reveal), many scenes of Princess Vi getting hurt for some reason, many of Guru Lou's scenes where he molested Polly, many sex jokes and one short nude scene of some background girls in the hot springs episode
I second this. The Saban English is so awful I couldn't watch another episodes. It's heavily censored & full of corny puns because the writers didn't have the original script to the series. The sub is 10x better.
Street Sharks > Moo Mesa > Extreme Dinosaurs > Dinosaucers > Biker Mice from Mars

Cat Ninja Legend Teyandee belongs in Cinemaphile, not Cinemaphile. It's an anime, not a cartoon. The Saban dub pure garbage, just like many 90s anime dubs from that time due to syndication & American censorship. Saban didn't even have the script for the anime. The sub is 10x better than the Amerishart localized bastardization dub.
2012 show literally has most moronic version of Michelangelo, kek. Rest of 2012 turtles is also fricking awful
But I admit Splinter was good, only saving grace in this shitty main cast.

Zoomer gay. 87 is silly cartoon you put on for a laugh. Treat it that way. Literally gave us bebop and Rocksteady and the primary turtle bandana colors. Rise sucks monkey balls
Solid ranking. I never had one series that was standout. I’m hoping rise didn’t shit the bed too hard to scare Nick from making something more anime-ish.
Rise was anything but anime-ish, it was a worse version of the Samurai Jack style
I think it would be a good idea to give the next show to a Japanese studio and let the design the characters, even if April is black again at least you can count on Japan not making her ugly
>The turtles mention Attack on Titan and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure in the movie
Regardless of the quality of those anime series at least they had cute girls, so Donatello falling in love with April and saying she's the most beautiful girl he ever saw doen't make a lot of sense, I bet the only reason they made April obese and black and Splinter homosexual in the movie was so they could push the narrative of cops being bad and abusing "minorities" like this movie so clumsily tries to do
Leo's the one who spend the whole movie talking about how he wants a girlfriend and then he sees April for the first time and go full moron spaz because he saw he on the street from a rooftop, and has several scenes where he does the obnoxiously over-exaggerated thing that's in every piece of teen-oriented media >socially awkward loser spills his spaghetti because a girl talked to him and now he's obsessively in love and can't stop spilling spaghetti anytime she talks to him or they interact in any way
I'd make a joke about April being the best looking human in the art style of the show, but they watch real movies with real people in them, so it's not like Leo has never seen a better looking woman... Not to mention it raises a lot of questions as to why everyone looks like a walking tumor, but all their movies and media look like they do in our real world.

Who the frick could seriously believe a show with ninja mutant turtles fighting evil martial arts masters and other mutated critters should be "grounded in the real world"? This reasoning always baffles me.
im in my 20s so i didnt grow up with the 80s, but its fricking hilarious for two reasons: its either genuinely funny or funny to see the writers not give a shit, and also amazing to make fun of the errors and nonsense goin on. id recommend watching it with a friend or partner who likes cartoons. its like watching the room by yourself, its not really funny.
The strength of our cartoons were that the writers did not take it nearly as seriously as we did because they knew that they were writing for children and not trying to mold young minds or some shit
I'm a late Gen X'er, so I got a small taste of the original TMNT during the late 80s. I even remember my parents buying me a toy. The '87 series had a lot corny jokes. But I did like the '03 reboot. I think the '03 reboot was peak TMNT & was a better version of TMNT. It had the dark visuals, storyplot, while still having the TMNT spirit. Still the 87 series is known as the best series because it went on for 10 seasons, which is milestone in terms of 80s/90s cartoon status of its time.
Street Sharks > Moo Mesa > Extreme Dinosaurs > Dinosaucers > Biker Mice from Mars

>87
Fun, campy, occasionally serious, but also very thoroughly a Saturday Morning Cartoon from the 80s/90s. It's like a bowl of sugary cereal and can hit the spot if you're in the mood for it. >2003
Animation can be pretty stiff sometimes, but if you want a TMNT cartoon that takes itself more seriously, then there you go. There's tons of it and it's not just a repeat of 87. Falls off hard, but any show that goes for too many seasons does. >2012
I have the hardest time recommending this one. It does it's own thing and makes some interesting choices, but it also makes a lot of choices that will have you screaming at your screen. The turtles are kind of horrifying frickups who cause a lot of people to get horrifyingly mutated and they just kinda handwave it away. Also, Beastboy's voice on Mikey gets very annoying. >Rise
Find some compilation of the best fight scenes on youtube. Watch that and only that. Maybe read the wiki entry for Lou Jitsu. Ignore the rest of it. It's got a few interesting idea that are buried between countless moronic ones. It can never take itself seriously for more than a few seconds at a time and it's sense of humor is not going to click with most people. There are some fights that are surprisingly well animated, but I don't know if it's worth suffering through the writing and filler episodes just for a few really cool battle scenes.
The first five seasons of 2k3 would be considered some of the best Cinemaphile TV material around if people didn't just see "turtles" and "4kids," and assume it's trash.
To those of you that are ranking 87 low I gotta ask: Did you try the Red Sky seasons at all?
I've noticed a lot of people that rank the 80s series low don't seem to acknowledge the soft reboot and total shift it got for its last 3 seasons.
(I've also noticed a lot of 03 fans seem to ignore massive shark jump it got in its last three)
2012>seasons 1-5 2003 > 80s pre- red sky > rest of 2003 > red sky 80s > rise (never seen it but i cant accept that it would be worse than fricking next mutation > next mutation
I put 2003 at the top. Even though it's action and audio editing weren't the strongest of them, it still was the best at following through with story and characters arcs than the other TMNT series and had more consistently competent characters.
2012 after that. It had better action but the arcs kept dragged on or repeated too much. The characters were inconsistently competent or annoying.
Rating Fred Wolf and Rise is tough. FW TMNT's peak was the first 5-episode season where it had better animation and an arc, but after that the show was really directionless, wasn't well animated, and wasn't as interesting. Rise has better animation but the humor and characters weren't as entertaining. I see it as a toss up.
It fluctuates so wildly in tone and quality that it's hard to recommend at all. For every awesome choreographed fight scene, you get a dozen obnoxious joke scenes or entire episodes based on an eye-rolling premise. Even the good A-plot stuff about the secret underground city of yokai and mystical wars and such is buried between a dozen shitty episodes about evil animatronics or having to do silly errands for a gopher guy.
Not really. Some episodes are boring at worst, but even those don't overstay their welcome. It's leagues above Fast Forward, Back to the Sewers, Next Mutation, and a third of the '87 series.
It was cancelled, the toys didn't sell, and it's extremely hit-or-miss (mostly miss) with fans and general audiences. Everything different they tried to do was immediately thrown out by it's successor.
2003 is the best, objectively speaking. The 80's one is too kiddish, reptitive, and had cheap shitty animation. The 2012 series had a generic 3D artstyle with lego looking proportions. The most recent one just looks weird and too drastically different to me. Also isn't the entire voice cast black people? That's lame.
If you are a boomer who grew up watching horrendous bland action figure cartoons like TMNT, He-Man, and GI Joe, you will probably prefer the original version unless you try watching it as an adult and seeing how horribly it's aged regardless of nostalgia
If you are a chad adult with good taste and some youth left in you, 2003 is what you like. That's the best iteration in terms of tone, art, and storytelling.
If you are between the ages of 16-22 who eats up Nickelodeon slop, you probably like the CGI series which is a zoomer's first experience with that franchise.
if are way too young to be posting on this website, you probably prefer Rise.
I couldn't watch the 2003 show because I was too old for it at the time it came out. It's not a show like 'Batman' that you can enjoy as an adult. It's too amateurish and kid-centric.
I’m surprised to see a good amount of love for 2012. I always found its writing to be a bit bland, and the fricking romantic subplots between Donnie and April just sucked the life out of the show. Raph and Venus almost saved it.
>All cartoons made in the late 80s and early 90s are better than all cartoons made after 2000.
You can say that about the 90's but the 80's were dogshit. The most condescending cheaply made cartoons with dogshit animation, formulaic storytelling, bad dialogue and everything else wrong with that era. The only halfway decent cartoons from that period are Simpsons which didn't become great until the 90's and Ducktales. 2000's cartoons blow away the 80's and it's not even remotely close.
my childhood was literally the 90's which is the biggest renaissance for animation in the history of the medium

I grew up on the original tmnt. Had every action figure. My favorite characters were toka and razar from the movies and tmnt3 on the nes. Have watched every iteration of tmnt since in some capacity. I would say, rise is my favorite incarnation. The turtles being different species and the fast pace was very entertaining. Not a fan on what they did to splinter, but overall, i found that show the best. Best april is still original april from the 80s show.

I’m surprised to see a good amount of love for 2012. I always found its writing to be a bit bland, and the fricking romantic subplots between Donnie and April just sucked the life out of the show. Raph and Venus almost saved it.
>1987
Big booba April
>2003
Athletic April
>2012
>Rise
Underaged; don't care
TAKE ME BACK
They get worse as they go.
I know you're not moronic enough to unironically say 80's Turtles is the best let alone even watchable nowadays
All cartoons made in the late 80s and early 90s are better than all cartoons made after 2000.
Sorry, the graph doesn't lie.
my childhood was literally the 90's which is the biggest renaissance for animation in the history of the medium
The 90s were pretty cool up until 1994, then they slowly went into a long decay which never let up to this day.
>until 1994, then they slowly went into a long decay which never let up to this day.
The frick are you talking about?
Freakazoid
Duckman
The Critic
Johnny Bravo
Dexter's Lab
EEnE
Space Ghost CtC
South Park
PowerPuff Girls
Spongebob
Courage the Cowardly Dog
Billy & Mandy
Invader Zim
Teen Titans
Aqua Teen
Literally tons of the greatest cartoons ever made came out in 94 or after.
I like Freakazoid at least.
Critic and Space Ghost were '94.
The rest of that is crap.
name 10 better shows, bet you can't
All the ones made when I was a kid.
name them or are you embarrassed to unironically to say dumb shit like Jem and the Holograms or the Smurfs could even remotely compete with anything I named
Shirt Tales
Kissyfur
Smurfs
Turbo Teen
Beverly Hills Teens
Pandamonium
Rubik the Amazing Cube
Disney's Adventures of the Gummi Bears
Fraggle Rock
Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends
Ewoks
I could keep going
alright fine I concede
SuperTed was pretty cool too. Remember that Ed Grimley cartoon? That was also cool. I 'member that one.
Unironically tho, Aqua Teen is some sad newgrounds tier shit. You have to be an actual moron to watch that show. Smurfs and Jem are obv better.
>Aqua Teen is some sad newgrounds tier shit
That's some contrarian shit
You'd be better off watching Clutch Cargo.
you watch shows for literal babies and yet one of the greatest animated comedies ever created that lasted 15 years with no bad seasons AND is coming back again is le bad because random anon says so? Gimmie a break
>one of the greatest animated comedies ever created
Look, I drew a McDonald's french fry and don't look now, he's ghetto. Hilarious! A marked-up coloring book by an edgy middle schooler is funnier than that garbage.
60's, 70's, and 80's were the darkest time for cartoons. At least in America. Japan was killing it.
2012 TMNT because I think its' Splinter is hot and I want to get laid with him
This but 2003 Splinter.
>t. 45 year old
Get off this website old man.
Only one I've watched is 2003 and I really liked it.
But based on artstyle alone the only one of the other 3 that I think looks interesting is 1987.
2003 was just perfect besides some lazy animation here and there. Especially Shredder who was legitimately terrifying
The voices are some non-union Pokemon-tier trash tho
Good thing I watched the dubbed version then
Whatever language you watched it in, it's better than the American version. It has to be.
>you will never get to watch the japanese dubbed ver
why live
Ranked from best worst:
1. The one I watched as a child
2. The one kids from 10 years ago watched.
3. The one modern kids watch
4. The one you watched as a child
2003 seasons 1-4 > 2007 movie > rise > 2012 > 1989 > 2003 season 5-7 > the OG movies > the next mutation > Michael bay movies
I haven’t seen the new movie yet
Cinemaphile still buck broken by nugget April in rise huh? Man, to think if they only made her white or Asian we would be on season 7 if rise by now
Look guys, this turtle I saw at the park had a leaf on its back.
Darn, why is it rotated like that?
I grew up on the original tmnt. Had every action figure. My favorite characters were toka and razar from the movies and tmnt3 on the nes. Have watched every iteration of tmnt since in some capacity. I would say, rise is my favorite incarnation. The turtles being different species and the fast pace was very entertaining. Not a fan on what they did to splinter, but overall, i found that show the best. Best april is still original april from the 80s show.
