not sure inflation is the right word.

Rotten Tomatoes works by whether a film critic likes a movie or not. If only ten critics review a movie and 9 of them like it, its a 90% rating. Its not that its a 9/10 movie, its that the higher the rating the safer and cookie cutter dogshit it is nowadays.

That said when nothing forgettable films like Moonlight get 96% I dont understand it.

I think everyone knows the reason for that, they just don't like saying it

Did Chadwick Boseman make a deal with the devil, his life in exchange for a critically acclaimed movie? Because this is the only explanation I can see for black panther having such good reviews. It's not a bad movie but is it better than any of the other slop marvel have released in the last 15 years?

black panther had an absolutely massive corporate shill campaign behind it to boost its relevance. this becomes very obvious when you realize how inflated its numbers were domestically in the US compared to global, and compare how it did when they ran the MCU theatrical re-releases during covid (none of them did particularly well, obviously, but black panther specifically was the lowest earner in re-release due to lack of free ticket campaigns for africans and no virtue signalling value for white liberals)

BP was shit, and this is coming from some1 who generally likes the MCU.
i rewatch the films (up to endgame and also the loki show) every year, and i always skip BP and captain femism
boseman was actually a fairly decent actor, but the movie was shit.

Why not? When you have a binary rating system like that it makes perfect sense.
      >not sure inflation is the right word.
Take a look at IMDB. It's not about the rating system at all. People just see a show and rate it as 10 if they like it even a bit.

that's not inflation, it's devolution and decay of the concept of ratings systems. it's the takeover of swipe right or left, upvote or downvote, black and white thinking ideology that zoomers have been indoctrinated with from birth.

There are way more reviews for the movies on the right than on the left, so the ones on the left have slid way down in the rankings

Top lists like this are meaningless.
The power of these websites is the ability to do advanced searches and pull up the information that is actually relevant to you..... However i'm not sure RT allows that anymore. But IMDB etc do.

I trust people that rate things either 1 or 10 more than curve autisits that think 5/10 is acceptable to give to a good movie because it's "average". 5/10 is bad

      Anonymous

average isn't bad. it may have bad parts that balance out the good parts. that's why it's average. 5/10 is an "I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it" score. the only thing worse than "1 or 10" incels are the midwits who's baseline is 6/10 because they feel bad about giving something an "average" score if they didn't find it totally appalling.

Nobody cares about your pseud movies from prehistoric times, none of them are actually good they were only highly rated because of hipsters who went to film school and were brainwashed by their grandboomer teachers.

I assume they got rid of it citing "recency bias" and the fact that any and all internet ratings and polls are polluted with jeet shill farms. Who's idea it was to allow that nation onto the internet is beyond me.
