>Flee tells the story of Amin Nawabi as he grapples with a painful secret he has kept hidden for 20 years, one that threatens to derail the life he has built for himself and his soon to be husband. Recounted mostly through animation to director Jonas Poher Rasmussen, he tells for the first time the story of his extraordinary journey as a child refugee from Afghanistan
sounds gay.
can we start demanding that if """refugees""" wanna be let in, every, and i mean every single one of them, has to write a long-winded and queer little story like this on why they're oppressed and "fleeing"
i still won't let em in but it'll be hilarious to read, especially the ones you can tell are just opportunistic rape tourists making some bullshit up
This…. Would unironically be a very good idea, I mean why not the only way it would fail is if they’re not on the level like all the people advocating for them say they are.
the issue with refugees is that it relies entirely on trust
those who are actually fleeing a dangerous situation might not want or be able to disclose information about themselves, they just wanna reach safety quietly and demanding they disclose all information goes against my personal belief that a person is owed privacy
on the other hand, that also gave the opportunity to many many awful people to take advantage of the refuge they're given to, at best, eat for free, and at worst run to a country where they're undocumented and commit crimes en mass

it's easy to make people look like hypocrites when you
1. just straight up make shit up
2. believe everyone online is one guy
3. just straight up make shit up
5. just straight up make shit up
i never heard of this and just saw the trailer, and whatever else YouTube threw at me, animation looks choppy and has the thing, that you see independent animated films do, like one part of the film just changes style to fit the tone and it's always done poorly. also this has got to best dumbest things i ever saw:
i get trying to hide his identity so whatever family he has left in Afghanistan don't get killed but this is the stupidest way to achieve the "anonymous" interview
watch persepolis, better film and with cute e-girls
>that interview
kek that's so cringey
i don't think they realize, ironically, that it also makes the whole thing look very manufactured, the fact that someone went thru, edited and animated the whole thing makes it feel less organic and more like some kinda propaganda ad

For all we know, that guy might not even exist and it’s all a hoax. This shit has happened before…

it's pretty bad, if something is made to be oscarbait that means, at best, a lot of the original's merit and artistic integrity is squashed to appease the gray goo collective
and at worst (and most commonly) it was simply made for it
Why do you ask questions when you clearly just wanna hear your own answer said back at you? Idk dude watch it and let the rest of us know
Nah
Is this shit some more pro refugee propaganda?
What do you think?
It COINCIDENTALLY came out the same year Biden pulled US troops out of Afghanistan.

I wonder if the director made up this whole story just to win awards.
likely, even if parts are true he definitely made most of it up

TLDR Black folk ruined shit for everyone again
Or if they can't, you know; write.

I remember when they forced me to read that novel back in HS, not boring but not the greatest thing either lol
Never watched the movie but the book was peak.
I gave up halfway through
Oscarbait isn't inherently bad, but it is prone to flattering the sensibilities of Hollywood which can rub people the wrong way.

Why does he remind me of Sandler in 8 Crazy Nights?
