No, and they admitted as much. Their goal was Lebensraum, or living space. Hitler and his ilk felt like Germany was too small a country for the amount of people living in it. They couldn't compete with the brits at the game of overseas empire due to the british navy, so the plan was to create an inland empire. This is why they took Poland and later attacked the soviet union, because the plan was to depopulate most of poland and ukraine in order to create a colony for german farmers to settle. If it was just about uniting german people then germany could have stopped multiple times before even war was declared, while the world was still trying to appease them.

War wasn't declared until they invaded Poland (which notably did not have a large german population, but DID have a large israeli population. If the goal was just to re-unite german populations then they achieved that goal by the peaceful annexation of those two countries. Germany could have chosen peace. They chose to work with the soviets and invade poland.

presumably had something to do with the subterfuge about where exactly the allies were going to land. They hid fake documents on a dead officer they had wash up on the french shoreline. At this point pretty much all german intelligence networks were completely compromised, so the allies were landing on beaches that were undefended. That's why it was so important to get the frick off the beach and get as far inland as they could before the germans figured out what was going on and counterattacked
