It would have been a decent put the team together movie. It would have been a building story of what the empire has done and what sort of broken creatures it has created, but how by coming together it births something new.
I doubt the 4 hour cut will do that. It's possible there will be proportionally fewer flashbacks, maybe even some cut flashbacks with more time to explain context with present day dialogue. And then more demonstration of who these broken people have become and what they're capable of.

Yeah this is very on the nose, no subtlety. But that kind of thing works if you go full throttle and embrace the brutality with no hesitancy in pacing. Four hours of this to overwhelm the viewer and that's basically the only way I can construe this as art.
