Yeah he directly caused most of the deaths around him. Also let’s be real he ruined his life not by punching an autistic child but by becoming equally autistic in his desire for revenge.

Does he become a better person or does he turn into a bigger asshat than Char?

Jerid would have been a great replacement for Glemy in ZZ. This endless ball of ambition that recruits himself into Neo Zeon, makes his way up the ladder, and eventually usurps control of Neo Zeon for a time. Main thing that would have to be rejiggered is the Purus, Jerid has too much pride to manipulate child soldiers easily like Glemy does.

Alternatively, Jerid could really get shaken up by Kamille's condition, and become more of a neutral, pro-AEUG figure in the war. Maybe Jerid dies in one last gasp, sacrificing himself like Hayato did in Dublin, saving lives when the wretched adults of the Federation wouldn't. Honestly, there's so many possibilities, and his death was so anticlimactic in Zeta, I think keeping him alive would have been the better idea.

The weirdest part about his death to me is how he just shows up in Rosamy's Baund Doc instead of his Byarlant

He killed a woman and then mocked her child over it. Worst thing is he was shocked when Kamille's mother died, but by the time he came face to face with him he buried any regrets and basic goddamn empathy under his standard school bully persona.
Because that's what he is, just a bully with a gun. The other villains in Zeta are political masterminds and various flavors of supremacists, whereas Jerid's just... a guy. Just a random c**t.

no, they were mad that they were more open about it instead of quietly oppressing everyone they don't like and raking in cash. They messed with the status quo, that's why higher ups in Federation gave a shit.

No he isn't. The Titans are just a bunch of militarists, just like pretty much everyone else in the UC. Not even the AEUG was actually interested in protecting popular representation.

I also recently started ZETA but am heavily considering dropping it. Show itself seems cool but the subtitles from like 4 different groups are just horrendous and bad english. There is a key convo in episode 7 between kamilee and char where they don't even get the tense or meaning across that kamilee is looking for amuro.

One of my problems with Zeta is the way even minor secondary antagonists tend to just never frick off or die until the last 5 episodes of the show. Jerid should have died in the first 10 episodes. The only things he does are call Kamille gay and then kill his mom. Then he spends the entire rest of the show getting dragged around as a punching bag for no particular reason.

He should've been double killed by Four at Kilimanjaro. Would've been a tidy way to wrap up everything Kamille went through on Earth, and then just let Yazan be the actually scary rival in space.

Kamille could have easily become Jerid, consumed with his hate and anger over the people that he lost

Terrible idea. Yazan is a sadistic bastard who loves piloting, but that's all he is. To Kamille, he's just another evil mook. Jerid directly parallels Kamille in so many ways, he's the perfect thematic rival for him.

        Anonymous

This. There's nothing for Kamille to grow from dealing with Yazan, because fighting is giving Yazan exactly what he wants. Jerid works because he's an obsessed idiot that isn't anywhere near as good as he thinks he is to keep up with Kamille, making the mistake of not growing out of his tic-tac mentality. When Yazan fights, he's not making things personal unless you've done something to really piss him off, like when Jamaican almost killed him with his incompetence, or when Ramsus got killed, but past that, there's nothing to really carry on a rivalry.

He didn't know what he was shooting at when he did it, but he found out almost immediately afterwards and even took time out of his day to go and gloat about it (which Kamille still somehow manages to turn around to dab on Jerid again lmao)

Kamille’s face in that final frame is one of the best visual representations of absolute unfiltered despair. I’ve never seen anything quite like it that manages to capture the feeling of complete and total misery, shock and temporary madness quite like it, except for maybe that one still from Tails Gets Trolled

It's not about being nice, it's the fact that he took time out to gloat to Kamille when he could have simply shut the frick up and let Kamille walk on, mired in his own despair over his mother getting killed, but Jerid isn't like that, he's a petty bully that gets off on kicking people while they're down.

Why does he never seen to consider how dangerous Kamille is? He shoulda realized he was totally outclassed by like the second time they fought in MS. Hrs got this whole revenge angle going on in his head without having any concerns as to how he could possibly actualize it. Was he just hoping Kamille would have an off day?

Ego and revenge tend to blind people, but there were a couple of times when he had Kamille in a bad position, and Kamille had to be saved by someone like Char or Emma.

jerid is defined by his extreme level of narcissism to the point of it being a serious mental illness and delusions of grandeur. he genuinely believed right up to the moment he died that he was singlehandedly capable of becoming the leader of the titans, without any form of help from anyone else, even though he never managed to accomplish anything on his own, only lived as long as he did because of the girlfriend he practically used as a human shield, and only was given any sort of elevation of status by being allowed to fail upwards for the entire war. he was cognitively incapable of the kind of self-reflection that would let him recognize his general mediocrity as a pilot and as a man in general.

        Anonymous

Jerid didn't have leadership qualities but he wasn't bad as a pilot
Calling him mediocre is doing him a disservice, he just didn't advance as fast as Kamille did and his newtype development was slower as well

          Anonymous

he did have skill, yeah. it takes skill to get into the titans in the first place. he was definitely good in combat by virtue of simply avoiding being killed by kamille for long enough to catch a whiff of some newtype powers, but he was nowhere even close to the pilot he imagined himself as and lacked the ability to accomplish the things he believed himself to be capable of accomplishing.
i think it's also worth noting that the show begins with him crashing the mk-ii into an office building in a completely avoidable accident and wounding/killing a bunch of civilians, which would render him basically unemployable and court-martialed if he were a real world aircraft pilot no matter how fancily he can fly. so, in that aspect, he was a shitty pilot.
