The Reeker
synopsis: >people wakeup in a desert hotel >there are no people and phones don't work >they come across strange shit like half-dead animals >during the night, grimreaper (who has a drill) who can teleport begins brutally killing people >so the people have to survive until the morning
Why is scary you might ask? It has a certain disturbing atmosphere...
the only horror movie that was actually scary to me was It Follows, but people are very split on it
it either works well or they thinks its stupid and laugh at it (which is how I feel about other horror movies)
That's because you are capable of putting yourself in the shoes of the characters of the movies. Most people can't do that.
It Follows becomes extremely unnerving when you do that, because you start thinking about what you could do and how you'd never live in tranquility ever again, because if it kills someone it can go back on the chain and return to you.
It's also really well shot, so that helps. All the house interior scenes are perfect.
Pretty much no films are actually get-under-my-skin scary to me. Kind of tense, sure. But being surprised by a jumpscare is not fear. The Exorcist is a great film but I didn't find it scary at all despite actually believing in the existence of demons.
I can't remember feeling truly unnerved by a film since I watched Blair Witch as a kid and was convinced it was real. But I was a kid. It kind of sucks, I wish I could recapture that feeling again
Some chemistry phd commented on youtube that he wouldn't suffocate because his dissolving flesh would release enough oxygen for him to (sort of) breathe. Grim.
even the best horror movies typically aren't scary on a rewatch, even if they're still enjoyable. a big part of the fear is not knowing what's going to happen, without that anticipation it's a very different experience.
>Recommend me a horror movie that will actually scare the shit out of me
Being scared by a horror film is an active experience, not a passive one. You have to be willing to accept the premises of the plot and setting.
>Recommend me a horror movie that will actually scare the shit out of me
I watched this one so many times I lost count, it's a very old movie I think it's called real life, being scared of movies is for kids. grow up
Horror requires mental buy in; you have to be willing to suspend disbelief and go along with the notion that the movie will scare you. If you go into a movie with the idea that you are challenging the movie to scare you, unless you are indescribably weak, the movie will not scare you. The problem is not with the movies you are watching, the problem is with your approach to watching movies.
No.
All Conjuring movies are scary. You're just a pussy who watches this on a laptop in a bright room.
Are you 13 years old and/or female?
I watched it on blu ray
In my living room with the lights turned off
Best jump scares, but last one didn't get me even once.
Midsommar
Ever since I watched Mirrors I ain't trusted one since.
1978 or 2008?
Oh yeah? There's a lot of superstitions about mirrors...hope you don't have one that faces a door or window.
Nori the curse.
That image is at least 13 years old by now where does the time go
It would help if you gave examples of movies/concepts you find scary
Alright, like hills have eyes and evil dead(2013) it was scary the 1st time i watched it
The haunting (1963). That and the original Texas chainsaw massacre. Mucho scary
Pulse (Kairo) - 2001
This isnt even horror

I thought session9 was scary but I read on here that its generally considered low budget cringe?
I got rattled by the movie. No idea why people hate it.

I liked it too. I can see why people think it was silly but it was unsettling for me and not much else is.

We Are Still Here
godlike jumpscare i havent found in other jumpscares
Lake Mungo
Cant remember the last time i got scared shitless. Aint no pussy but after i finished it at like 1AM i was legit scared to go to the bathroom.
The Wailing (korean)
Play horror games if you want to be scared. Horror movies are never 'scary' since it is not you directly experiencing it
No such thing, if you're not a child movies should not actually "scare" you.
Last Shift
The Sadness
High Tension (aka Haute Tension or Switchblade Romance)
The Ring

its a fucking terror
Hereditary has a painfully slow buildup but the end is peak horror and worth it
The ending is laughable
Everything is laughable if u go in with that attitude and don’t immerse yourself
But I did, hereditary was immersive until the bitch started crawling on the wall
the best part of Hereditary is the Joni Mitchell song in the end credits
>peak horror
>Hereditary has a painfully slow buildup
You tiktak brained zoomers are hysterical. Movie was shit too
if you're above the age of 9, movies aren't going to scare you, let alone scare the shit out of you
death murder koreatown if youre into found footage
Literally the only movie that kinda creeped me out (watched it at night, no lights like all Horror enjoyers should) was Lake Mungo.
But it wasn't that scary when I rewatched it

DO NOT OPEN I REPEAT DO NOT OPEN
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
what movie?
That's fucked.
imagine being able to delude yourself to be scared.
Kinda jealous ngl
Also "It comes" (2018) had some creepy moments and unique ideas, I would recommend that

The Innkeepers (2011) scared the crap out of me.
