Rigby and Eileen provide a sort of anchor compared to Mordecai’s antics surrounding his relationships. It shows that characters aside from muscle man can take their relationships somewhat seriously without going overboard. It’s nice

The appeal is that Rigby goes from being a total manchild to an more mature person than Mordecai himself. He gets an wholesome relationship without any drama, he goes back to high school, it's supposed to be his arc, basically.

It's nice to see Rigby grow as a character and learn to appreciate a partner that's good for him while still being fun enough to go on adventures with him. Meanwhile he matured enough to be a good partner for her showing he can grow up plus it's sweet that he genuinely loves a girl that was into him from the start that he got to know better when he initially wrote her off for being a clingy dork. It's best case scenario for both of them and Eileen got to be with a guy she likes that was willing to put in the effort to make a relationship with her work.
I stopped watching after they started dating, I was too afraid they would break up, I will now close this thread so as to not learn their fate.

I didn't mind it, but it was majorly used as a background prop to show the character progression of Rigby the majority of the show.
I didn't like it at the time because I thought Eileen was cute and Rigby didn't deserve her cause he was annoying and I liked Mordecai more, but it works for the purpose of what the show was trying to achieve and displayed some cute moments between the two.
It's refreshing to see Rigby in a healthy love relationship after constant Mordecai frick-ups.

The appeal is having a somewhat nerdy girl take a genuine interest in you and slowly build a bond with you and encourage you to grow and be a better person. Probably the healthiest ship in the show.
Funny enough, on one hand, you can see Rigleen shipping by women as a sorta mirror of people who ship Margaret and Mordecai. Rigby, much like Margaret, was a close yet somewhat distant character for them to pine for. The difference is Eileen gets Rigby in the end.

I don't know if there's a big group of Rigby self-inserters, especially since early Rigby was treated as somewhat of Mordecai's sidekick who gets shit from time to time.
