I enjoy the John Halo show
I enjoy holo shows..that's what no one else did
the mexican chick is super cute
>33
jesus I need me a b***h like that
Post pic
It's wild how many shows are coming out that I will probably die without ever watching. It just doesn't look interesting enough to waste time on. I'd rather watch reruns of shows from the 90s
It's a show made for people who don't play the games, and nobody but them give a shit about Halo.
the first 2 episodes have been somewhat better than the first season, but that's an incredibly low bar
Goes downhill from there, but some will like the almost all battle episode coming up at 4.
>Goes downhill
Give it to me straight bro. Is it worse than the shit they pulled in season 1 with Makee and are the fight scenes at least halfway decent with some actual halo music thrown in?
>John goes into the blade runner city to hire an AI hooker to look like cortana so he can dump his emotions on her
Great show, top notch. Truly captures what halo is.
Well I at least always wanted to frick Cortana .
I like season one and about five minutes of the first two episodes of season two that just dropped
Not a promising start
WHY THE FRICK DOES HE ALWAYS TAKE OFF HIS HELMET
FRICK OFF
Because it’s not a video game, dummy. Lots of scenes take place away from the front lines
>Halo
>Spartans
>not permanent frontline and popsicle when not.
You silly billy.
look i'll fricking take it in this case. at least he's not taking his helmet of mid fight to quip with the bad guys.
its passable to have it off away from the front lines, the show just needs to spend more time in combat
The Spartans take their helmets off all the time in the books/comics (John included).
He takes it off repeatedly in the games as well.
Its beyond TV writers to accomodate a facially anonymous main character.
>Its beyond TV writers to accomodate a facially anonymous main character.
Worked for Mandalorian well enough
Imagine taking less risks than play-it-safe Disney
Anyone excusing this is moronic, less than a shill as they get less money for saying something wrong. Helmet never comes off. Talks with military personnel, leaves without small talk. Waits for action to happen. It's not a deep character, it's an action movie character. The less talking the better, Where Eagles Dare style
to show you his ugly ass face
>first 15 minutes suck but are better than season 1
>next 45 minutes are boring as frick and feature master chief talking to a blade runner hologram he makes dressup as cortana and he also attends a dinner party
this show is fricking dogshit
>interracial flirting
Lol of course. Getting real sick of these Red Sea pedestrians.
Is he disgusted at the black flirting with the white chick? Is this show based?
Why is he so tiny? Give him a muscle suit or something wtf he’s supposed to be close to 7 feet tall and weigh almost 300lbs of almost just muscle and augmented bones yet here he looks like a fricking sprinter
The dude is literally 6'6 and suited up a few inches more
He’s tall (missing half a foot tho) but he’s tiny. I know chief isn’t the biggest Spartan but he shouldn’t look like some guy that does CrossFit twice a week and nothing else
He's a big guy I think you're somehow just not noticing
This is like how people used to fancast awful pro wrestlers as superheroes because they were stupid gigantic despite their acting ability being embarrassing
Dude is huge af but if he focused more on the lats, traps and shoulders, he'd create a more muscular appearance in a heartbit.
Look at Hardy as Bane, dude is like 10% more bodyfat, shorter by a foot but simply because he did a frickton of trap and lat work, he looked massive.
Why does she (or even he) have hair at all and I am legitimately asking. They live in those claustrophobic suits. If nothing else, they should be bald as shit.
Is he still lobotomised from the Season 1 cliffhanger?
Cortana get's removed within the first few seconds. Doesn't turn up again in the first episode. That homie whipped bad bruh. Literally goes into an AI sex brothel booth to dress up the AI as Cortana and whine about how much he misses having her inside of him.
343 making Cortana the love interest was completely moronic.
did you love blade runner 2
Yes, but while John and K may both be autists, they are two very different types of autists.
>S1 ends with Cortana effectively controlling Chief and leaving his real mind brain-dead
frick I forgot about that shit
the old showrunners were probably touching themselves when they wrote that girlboss trojan horse of an ending
Why don't they understand that Halo is a rip off of Aliens by James Cameron? That means it's military sci fi. Keyword: Military.
As long has they frick up the gritty military part of it, it's going to be shit. First scene of first episode, fricking Master Chief is standing upright on a hill from a recon position. You can't get any more moronic than that.
I stand by that the only woman who can direct military action is Kathryn Bigelow, and guess what, she used to bang Jim Cameron. Maybe every female director should get an infusion of pure Jimbo sperm before directing action. It's apparently pure testosterone, but unfortunately, even based Jim is full vegan soi boi idiot today.
/rant
this simple trick would double the ratings
they took the wrong message from Joseph Staten
his guiding mantra for writing Cortana was "she's every girlfriend you've ever had" but he meant that in terms of the witty rapport you have where she's teasing and giving you shit the whole time - the mongoloids at 343 thought this meant "Cortana is in love with Chief"
also
>Bonnie Ross fired from 343 after Infinite launched
>Kiki Wolfkill transferred away from 343 after Infinite launched
>Joseph Staten brought in to be the adult in the room and save Infinite, got it out the door but then got transferred away
why haven't they shut the studio down yet? it's a trash-fire of bad devs and incompetence
Halo is a dead franchise anyway. It's outdated, showing its age. Just let it die. I'm saying this as a huge fan, reading most of the best OG books. If I become a famous director one day, I will try to make a faithful Fall of Reach as a "military sci fi" as it was intended, then hang up John Halo's hat.
>It's outdated, showing its age.
How do you mean? In terms of story its one of the few conceptually cogent sci-fi universes in existence.
at least it was when I stopped paying attention back in 2015
>at least it was when I stopped paying attention back in 2015
Halo 4 and 5 had the problem the Matrix sequels had, where they tried making it a transmedia franchise but made the mistake of hiding plot-relevant details in the other media, so the stories for 4 and 5 literally didn't make sense unless you read several expansion novels and a bunch of comics or some shit
Halo 4 was a decent game but the other two 343 games made it retroactively worse, Halo died with Reach
>why haven't they shut the studio down yet?
anon, they're shutting down Xbox entirely next week.
I'm looking at the torrent with no sound at work, are they trying to copy the Expanse's cinematogrophy this season?
Intentional Baneposting, or coincidentally bad writing?
Is Kwan dead? Please say yes.
both her and the human covvie are alive
Didn't the human Covie die in the finale?
I'm like the only fan of this show. But even I know to manage my expectations. I am going to watch this in like 20 minutes.
I enjoy it for what it is. It's a mediocre adaptation of Halo but it has its moments and it gives me an excuse to talk about Halo lore on here.
>be me
>enter this thread
>select "season 2" from OP post and right click to "search for"
>got picrel
Finally our CIA/AI/NSA agents are doing their work well.
Somehow, worst character returned
That's not Kwan.
It’s fricking filler. Nothing happens. The entire show is about women and ancillary characters
Some things just aren't made for TV but then again Hollywood is so creatively hollow that they have to adapt anything and everything remotely popular in hopes that the fanbase and name alone can carry their dogshit writers. The execs know that most writers are horrible but they have no way of effectively filtering out the bad ones since those decisions aren't made by them in most shows. The studios want to make money and the only way they can possibly make a profit from dumb writers is the pre-existing fanbase. If you haven't realised they already tried giving them small projects and they were all flops that no one can remember.
I've mentioned this before but the only people I've met who respect/understand the lore/world building of any series and care about the writing quality is a STEM, doctor or lawyer major. Anyone who's been through the school system in the west knows how overly feminine the English/arts/drama departments were. It repels all the male nerds who will just talk about comics/manga/fantasy stuff in their physics class instead.
The only way Hollywood is fixed is if these guys are funneled into writing roles. Tech brings in a lot of money, if a studio was taken over by tech bros or a brand new one was made by them, it would outclass the current talent and potentially force the rest of the studios to follow suit. Plus they're high IQ and autistic enough to create valuable OC instead of rehashing burnt out IPs.
Hollywood obviously would oppose this but I don't see how they could justify a writers strike to actively discriminate against people with engineering backgrounds.
>STEM, doctor or lawyer major.
>overly feminine the English/arts/drama departments were
>Plus they're high IQ and autistic enough to create valuable OC instead of rehashing burnt out IPs.
You're right, culturally speaking though this will not happen since the power that be, through concerted efforted or becauce events were set in motion, want women to have fancy degrees in higher education. Since, on average, they're fricking moronic and can't do anything STEM or useful, they migrated to the humanties and arts and become useless "educated" c**ts where some take the moronic curriculum they're fed to heart and become hardcore ideological proponents that frick up everything.
A good fricking post though. Nails the entire problem with how feminization has fricked up some artistic bastions.
>The masterchief is just the dude we follow while other characters drive the story mostly with chief being a stoic c**t that comes up with some pragmatic idea out of left field and murders a bunch of aliens
>Through writing storytelling, visuals convey just how different Masterchief is from regular humans and whether he's still really human at all while dunking on aliens wanting to kill human
It can be done and it would be great.
>You're right, culturally speaking though this will not happen
Hollywood would oppose it, that's pretty obvious, and so will far left types who resent tech bros for either not following their diversity quotas, pushing their agendas/beliefs or allowing leftists in their ranks. The kind of guys I went to school and worked with that have read LOTR before they hit puberty aren't the kind to push commie nonsense. I just don't think Hollywood leftists can realistically fight back. Big tech regularly flexes its muscles in industries they haven't touched yet and wins because of their superior human capital. Apple bullied major banks with Apple pay. Netflix dog walked all the studios recently in the steaming wars. The execs are just finance guys who look for profit, if tech bros come after them they'll either be forced to adapt and create parallel products or submit
>Studios tried make their own streaming apps
>banks tried to create their own tap-to-pay apps
>JP Morgan Chase teamed up with Apple to open their own bank
In this case, they'll scramble for lore obsessed nerds with STEM backgrounds once a Silicon Valley start up starts making their own movies using STEM guys as writers. Honestly this is the perfect pitch a consultancy firm could offer the big studios. Idk if it's inevitable.
Story writing won't be that difficult for leetcode addicts. Half of them already complain about the shitty writing of the IPs they love, I'm surprised they haven't tried doing it themselves yet. A few of my friends have talked about ideal shows and cinematic studios they've thought about that could easily rival the hype of peak Marvel or GOT. They're just too busy writing code.
You could very easily adapt CE into a proper show.
The game has 10 levels you could perfectly adapt into an episode each. Starting with the Pillar of Autumn getting attacked at the very beginning, immediately drawing you in to the conflict.
You even have the Library for the info dump/filler episode.
Shit writes itself but Hollywood is too low IQ.
So what IS the actual story? Is it just some interpersonal character-driven fan fiction featuring Master Chief? Why wouldn't they just adapt Halo 1?
>Why wouldn't they just adapt Halo 1?
>9 Episodes of Master Chief going through the same fricking corridor AGAIN
Aotcr/tb poa/maw t&r/keyes while repeats, are still excellent levels and don't wear out their welcome with that samey feel. Even though the library, 343, and silent cartogropher are halo installations, they don't use the same map segments/pieces as any of the other levels. Library is the only one that suffers from sameness fatigue. The different floors almost have identicle layout down to defending a door while spark opens it.
If they want to adapt Halo, starting with Reach is the right move, but they should just follow the old book trilogy then do halo 2 and 3. You can even sneak in odst for fun.
>You can even sneak in odst for fun.
?si=up3nqJn0AqU5NtQx
I would never have expected this from a HALO game of all things. A jazzy film-noir battlefield mystery in a city under enemy occupation. The atmosphere was incredible! If they wanted, this would make for an incredible mini series, but no. Nobody at Netflix has the writing chops for it. And mores the pity. It's really gotten the point where I'm hoping things DON"T get adapted so they don't pollute the perception of what something was.
I love them all (under Bungie) but ODST is my fav Halo. My friend and I co-opping the campaign in one night on Legendary is a golden memory
The timeline of events around Halo 1 has been decently fleshed out since the game released. For example PoVs could be:
>Chief/Cortana, obviously.
>Thel'Vadamee (the future Arbiter) commanding the Fleet of Particular Justice (he has an interesting drama with a minor prophet).
>Major Silva (or Lt. McKay) commanding the ODST contingent and butting heads with the Chief as the UNSC antagonist.
>Keyes (and then Johnson) as the Flood outbreak happens, Johnson has an awesome sequence where he fights his way out Flood Storage singlehandedly.
And extras/wildcards depending on what the show has runtime for could be:
>Foehammer
>Rtas (aka Halfjaw)
>Fireteam Raven
>Pvt. Jenkins
>Zuka 'Zamamee
>Sgt. Mobuto
And then there'd also have to be some flashbacks from Reach for context.
Shitloads of material for a standalone series.
>Johnson has an awesome sequence where he fights his way out Flood Storage singlehandedly.
This as one episode as the comic, no dialog just shooting and smoking, at the end when he gets out just a small talk with some marines that were waiting for him.
The smart play would have been to do Contact Harvest.
>at the start of the covie war, in fact is the opening incident of said war
>small scale. One planet and 2 squads of marines against a single pirate ship of ayylmaos.
>Conveys just how fricked humanity is as said single pirate ship fricking stomps Harvest, and the only thing the humans can do is hold on until they can evacuate
>Stars Sergeant Johnson, favourite Black person of anyone who ever had an xbox, pleasing both the homosexuals and the chuds
That would have been my opener for a hypothetical Halo tv collection. But if the execs really wanted Spartans I would have just adapted Fall of Reach. Season 1 for the training of the Spartan II's and their first ops, and season 2 for the destruction of Reach. Maybe fudge some of the details so John gets Cortana earlier than just before the first game
The entire thing is pretty clearly another pre written sci Fi show they bought and decided to slap halo skins and sounds on. And that's what made me quit S1
Action scenes are cool
I like the depiction of Averson. He feels like a really slimy boss and he kind of looks like moot.
The idea of sending flash clones to frick with Halsley is funny.
I like the scene where Master Chief talks to the AI notCortana.
But that's it.
But the show has way too much emphasis on "muh mental health" and it doesn't handle it well at all. There's way too many scenes of characters sitting down and explaining their feelings to the audience.
If they really wanted to go down that route then they should have done it in a way that had it actually impacted and interfered with the characters external goals instead of sitting them down and going abloohoohoo I'm so sad.
It really could used more of the game's humour. I know they're at war but every character is miserable and moody 24/7 so I have no one I can get invested in. The show really needs a Johnson type character.
Ultimately I think the biggest failure of the show is that Chief is more entertaining and engaging as an unrealistic spacemarine Jesus who's always calm and saves the day while dropping action movie one liners.
It's the wannabe prestiege tv mistake of mistaking a complicated character for a character that's engaging to watch.
Also there are way too many subplots. The show has zero momentum because it constantly swaps between subplots before any of them can go anywhere and payoff. It's such a slog to watch.
>The show really needs a Johnson type character.
They should have made it about Johnson to begin with. Would have saved them A LOT of fricking trouble to begin with, and they STILL could have filled out their diversity card.
season 2 is pretty good actually
Season 1 was such an abomination that by the end the only people watching were YouTubers doing weekly hate reviews of the show. And even then, many of the popular tubers stopped after the first few episodes. All I can imagine is that there was contractual stuff that made it cheaper to produce season 2 than tap out, or they were already mostly finished and just pushed to get it out the door.
Did any of you collect the Megabloks Halo sets? I'm surprised they're just as valuable as Lego nowadays, I got a whole bunch just now for only $100
Some of the minifigures are really rare now too btw, if you have any you don't play with anymore sell them on Ebay
?si=oD4Wv60EZOrO1gFD
>made over 17 years ago
>looks better than this dogshit series released in 2024
Only person who can save live action halo is Gareth Edwards at this point
Why can’t they just give Neill Blomkamp a Halo movie?
I was gonna make a thread about it last night but I was too tired. I thought the premier was actually pretty good. 2nd episode was weaker (mostly because of Kwan) but was still okay. They're getting to the Fall of Reach alot quicker than I thought they would. I'm assuming that's going to be the plot for this season and S3 is going to be Combat Evolved?
OK Finished watching it. Not bad but still so much filler about characters no one cares about. Also, why doesn't Chief just pretend he isn't seeing Mako and get Ackerman to take him seriously? Like how Sarah Connor agreed everything was BS when he found out Arnie was back.
put in all the boring scenes, locations and characters you want; they could have at least given us cool tech stuff and make it look cool.
but no, the armor looks ugly - both the under suit and the busy outer layer - there's never any cool weapon stuff and all the action is boring.
Think back to old movies with memorable scenes and details that are burned into you mind, like-
the predator's plasma cannon activating on his shoulder
his arm blades coming out
his collapsing spear
the razor net pinning a guy to the wall
walking through the water while cloaked
Robocop's gun coming out of his leg
the smart guns in Aliens
Ripley strapping two guns together
Hick pulling out his shotgun
Butch picking up the katana
etc.
You see an Elite activate an energy sword and you feel nothing. MC runs around and shoots guns and you feel nothing.
One of the few time I kind of felt something was the very first episode opening when the covenant were just brutalizing those kids in the woods.
At lease the Elite don't look like ugly thugs anymore.
Cortana should have been played by a fully nude woman with pubic hair in order to appeal to an adult audience
Wasn’t Kwan some child of prophecy that was going to unlock a portal to Halo on her home planet?
Why would we want to talk about it after the awful season 1?
Why are the Karen Traviss novels so shit? I liked everything up until that point.
Haven't read them but I take it it's because 343 chose to focus on the forerunner shit rather than the struggle for humanity's survival. The end of the covenant war should have been a hard stop for the halo story, doesn't mean they couldnt tell other stories that happened prior to that.
Some of the forerunner shit is actually good though. The Greg Bear books in particular are enjoyable if you like hard-sf novels.
>asian girl makes a reapearance
>goes around doing super thief shit
>steals pliers to pull out ear tracker, doesn't work
>just ends up pulling it out a few mins later with her bare hands
Why did they have to bring her back and waste screen time on her? They also made the new Cortana even more uglier.
Why isn’t Cortana naked?
What the hell have they done to Cort?
Removed the male gaze, chud
I have no problem with Kwan now because they got rid of that stupid haircut she used to have so she just looks normal
Why is Cortana wearing clothes?
>produced by some degenerate Canadian out of his apartment with frick all budget
>remains the best halo show
true
It's metallic when you think about it.
>women writers decide that Cortana needs to have a drawn out cuckoldry scene for some reason
Why?
>chief with helmet off
>feminist hair streaks
lmao what the frick is this show
So far I like the general mystery and the stuff with Silver Team
It seemingly like they won't drag out the Fall of Reach is a plus, even if it's almost groanworthy that finally getting to Halo will be the season finale
My eyes just glazed over whenever it switched to the Soren subplot
Have to fight off a vague sense of annoyance at how it's basically a soft reboot, they actually pulled a goddamned Infinite and used a six month skip to basically blackhole how they left things at the end of the first season
>My eyes just glazed over whenever it switched to the Soren subplot
I hate the filler. I csn see what they're building up to but the filler is so irrelevant. I wish it was an action/adventure show instead of the drama they're trying to create. Just from the first two episodes I'd say it's slightly better than the 1st season but I expect it to get better.
Bros do I have watch Season 1 to understand Season 2?
I would say yes. While there was a small time skip it's still building off a bunch of things and people that the first season sets up.
This "adaption" (abomination) is nothing more than a money laundering scheme. Should have been obvious after the first season had ZERO positive buzz but got a second season anyway. Watch it get a third season too based on nothing. lel.
Why did they greenlight two seasons from the beginning? Why not just one?
See:
Because they saw the content and were confident in it.
What did they lose by greenlighting just one season?
It's a vote of confidence in your people that lets wheels stay in motion production wise instead of having to go idle in wait of a pickup, and doesn't leave a cancellation threat hanging over their heads
I don't know. It doesn't look like it's worth the risk, but whatever.
Don't forget that there's an amortization factor - the investment made in things like sets, props, costumes, everything out of your FX houses etc is better if you get to use them more instead of expending that investment on a one and done.
I’m amazed this sloppa got another season. Who watched it?
https://deadline.com/2022/03/halo-premiere-viewership-record-paramount-plus-1234987267/
Millions of people, and it's critical reception was more positive than not.
Nice PR, shill.
The show has zero positive reception, the entirety of the Halo fanbase unanimously hated it.
Viewership records are absolute nonsense because they aren't telling you retention. 99% of people dropped the show after the first episode.
>the entirety of the Halo fanbase unanimously hated it.
You think those "bad because he took the helmet off" dorks are representative of anything at all
But you think subscribers that clicked on the premiere promo for two seconds and then never went back counts as "success."
You're a fricking moron. lol
I don't give a frick about Halo or this show but I recall the backlash was more about how the writers hate Halo, ignore the wealth of backstory, and turn Cortana into a cuck
>turn Cortana into a cuck
no, that’s just something that projecting literal cucks started. master chief and cortana were never romantic. he sees her as a mother figure in the games since she’s the clone of the woman who acted as john’s mom, dr. halsey. in the show specifically, she’s just there to spy on him. there’s no romanticism between them and there never has.
Literal cucks is the target audience of the show.
>he sees her as a mother figure in the games since she’s the clone of the woman who acted as john’s mom, dr. halsey
She's his sister. Cortana's as much of a creation of Halsey as John is.
Oh yes, "don't make a girl a promise if you know you can't keep it" is definitely the type of things you say to your son.
moron.
I didn't hate the first season as much as most people. But I found these episodes boring. But it's the beginning of Reach and the beginning of Reach was boring so I'll give it some time. It perturbs me that the chinese girl is still in the show.
no one is talking about it because the first season was borderline unwatchable.
Although it was disliked and mocked, I am somewhat surprised S1 didn't receive an even greater backlash. I suppose it comes down to there having been so many butchered adaptations/entries of franchises that there is no novelty or notability with things like Halo to maintain a mass and continued focused discussion.
