>Ally McBeal received some criticism from TV critics and feminists who found the title character annoying and demeaning to women (specifically regarding professional women[13]) because of her perceived flightiness, lack of demonstrated legal knowledge, short skirts >short skirts
wait was the single female lawyer thing from futurama parodying this show
It was kino but depending on the season. Some seasons were amazing and others I just skipped them entirely
The women were hot
I laughed at the feminist angles but in hindsight those were the baby steps of globohomosexual taking over hollywood
You kidding? Ally McBeal was a turbo feminist show for the era. It was praised over and over for being one of the creators of the Strong Womyn-who-needs-no-man trope
Its eye opening that I need to explain this: 20 years ago, a show about an young unmarried woman who decided to focus on her career and had lots of random sex was as feminist as it could be. Sure, you had Mary Tyler Moore in the 70s but at least she wasnt a prostitute. Ally was banging a different dude every episode except when Robert Downey Jr was in
I laughed at the time but now I see this is was the beginning of our current situation
Nta but I disagree, Ally was a neurotic mess of a woman who was never single by choice, let alone strong or independent. She had oneitis for her childhood bf and kept dating trying to fill that emptiness, also hoping that a man would fix all her wrongs. If anything it was a cautionary tale about the sexual revolution.
I didn't watch the final season and I don't know if they made her come to the conclusion that "actually I don't need no man to be happy" in the end, but if they did it's just a sad cope after years of her being a loser.
Also Richard Fish was based and CEO of sexism.

I get what you are trying to argue but you arent disagreeing with what I said: Ally was a prostitute on the wiener carousel, roasties didnt see deep enough to "hey, she was broken inside" but just "you go girl get that dick!"
The last season was perhaps the worst, with the daughter angle, I dont even know the finale as well
>Ally was a prostitute on the wiener carousel
For sure. I don't know how the female audience took it, to me it seemed clear it was very unflattering but yeah, who knows with them. The printed magazines were not a fan either. >the daughter angle
Wtf. Good thing I dropped it.

When she was a broke student Ally donated an egg that got fertilized. That egg grow up to became... Hayden Panetierre!
>criticism from feminists
Criticism is not a synonym for envy.
it was made in the time where everyone thought saying >both sides are wrong
was peak intelligence so every episode had to be this way and it's sometimes funny since they have to sometimes defend people unacceptable in modern society like people who do sexual harassment or racism but the "everyone is wrong always" mentality meant they would have MCs defend guys who raped a woman because she wore stockings with backline or smth and that was treated as good enough explanation
Not everyone must look like a chad, he has the perfect face for the character he portrays. He was one of the best Renfield ever in that Leslie Nielsen spoof, also go watch Dragonslayer.
not a face for television
What manner of israelitebeak is that!

When that horseface guy melted ice queen Lucy Liu by fricking her in the knee
the second guy from the left, how did he ever get on televiosn?
>Peter MacNicol
He got on TV by being a good actor
by being the best character/actor in the entire show
he was the best character on the show
