Happened with New 52 where all the new revamps and genre pushes failed. Happened with DCYou. The first mini-series was really well done. It was her interactions with the rest of the DC Universe, and the second mini-series that ruined her.
What really ruined her is that poorly thought out tv show which is a shame because the first mini has like three good ideas for a series.
But that's also a fault with Naomi too in that there is like three good ideas competing with each other.

imo part of the issue with new heros is the refusal to let them stay self contained because of the MCUs success
force writers to come up with new material for them, and be stingy with crossover villains and even stingier with cameos

WB and DC thought with how much Sony and Marvel were shilling Miles that it meant any Bendis OC would be loved.
