They were good.
It was surreal finding out that it was once a series of comic strips.
I read a lot of his everything, really. It's remarkable that it was ever big with kids, because it's full of references that kids wouldn't get, and the way it changes art style based on whether he's drawing it or not is a little meta.
I guess I got hooked into it the same way I did Bone.
That said, I liked Far Side too, and that sort of culture was on its way out when I read it for the first time. Maybe kids just don't have particularly discerning taste and will read anything put in front of them.
