We are not talking about some smart guy here. We are talking about a homosexual failed filmmaker that defended Abrams of all people bashing Lucas. Say what you want about Lucas but the guy knows how to create a story and a concept. The fact this homosexual even dared to complain about originality while defended a rehash of a New Hope (The Force Awakens) and a leftist rehash of Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi (The Last Jedi) is just hilarious. It makes no sense.

This is not just hypocrisy, it's actually worse. Mike said that and that gave Disney what they thought was a mandate from the fans to hire JJ for TFA. JJ did his doco-cam, snap-zoom horrible style just as Mike had hoped, and requested. The Kenobi show is now implementing that style purely and solely to keep stylistic continuity with the sequel trilogy cinematic language. So RLM are shitting on not only what they fricking suggested, but what is actually there because of their suggestion. They are shitting on their own work

funny to imagine the disney exec who bet it all on adjusting for their complaints, seeing them complain about exactly what they asked for in the new stuff, and realizing in horror that they just complain unthinkingly. that they were just zombie complainers, what they'd suggested had no meaning

Remember when Mr Plinkett showed footage of JJ Abrams tapping on a camera to make it wobble and said that star wars prequels should have had that

Look homosexuals. When the JJ Star Trek movies were coming out they were so unlike Star Trek and more so like Star Wars that it actually occurred to a lot of people that it would have been better for everyone if that was the case. This is mostly to do with the specifics of space fights in the JJ Star Trek movies. Nobody could have predicted the absolute log of shit story wise JJ would have produced for the SW movies as well as not even pulling off the space ship fights.

        >This is mostly to do with the specifics of space fights in the JJ Star Trek movies
Except that Mike pulled 4 distinct clips from JJ directing different movies, where in each JJ is running along with and hitting the camera to make it shake, and the camera being dynamic is what he's specifically talking about in the voiceover as being
what's missing because "Lucas just didn't want to have to get out of his chair and move his monitors"

          Anonymous

          >Mike pulled
On Plinketts, Mike was the talent, Jay was the grunt. It was probably Jay's very hands that found and clipped and edited together those clips of the camera being 'violently shaken in place' as a good thing

          Anonymous

The problem with JJ is that he had too much control over casting and story. Mike should have known that bringing a character like JJ to manage Star Wars was a monkey's paw deal and he wouldn't have stopped at simply directing.

Firstly you're not even engaging with the post you're replying to, just continuing to write on your own topic obliviously, secondly - > Mike should have known that bringing a character like JJ to manage Star Wars
What are you even talking about? Are you of the belief that Mike hired JJ to manage star wars? Otherwise why would you say this when the topic is Mike suggesting JJ should have been hired to shake the camera?

JJ is fine when he's a producer just not a writer. Because all of the problems with nu-Wars is the writing, no amount of good production can fix it. All three films and the spinoff shows are competently made and have broadly good ideas; but the writing is very bad and there's no focus or consistent themes through any of the films and no arcs. Because of this the films suffer greatly and aren't remembered like the OT and PT were. Lucas wasn't perfect, but even the PT knew not to introduce more than 6 characters and the amount of characters reduces to 2 by the end of Ep3.

At any rate it's long-term decline. Disney has no idea how to handle or write anything it didn't personally create. They couldn't even sign on a single director for all three films.

        Anonymous

They keep picking directors on a flavor of the month basis only to have it blow up in their faces constantly.
If you ask me, Disney should have put Gore Verbinski in charge of directing the Star Wars sequels and put JJ Abrams and Rian Johnson in charge of directing people to their seats in the theater.

        >and the spinoff shows
Both Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan have some deeply embarrassing moments independent of the screenwriting though. The shaking is just one example; the camerawork in Obi-Wan shits the bed almost every time a shot involves moving the camera. It's not the ugliest show committed to television or anything, and many of the static shots look fine-to-great, but there are a number of strange choices.

That's not the point of the comparison. Did you even watch the video you linked? The contrast is between undynamic camerawork and using something like Steadicam across fuller sets to get more dynamic action. He contrasts Abrams with Lucas sitting in front of screens with static shots where backdrops are just swapped. Shaky cam is not relevant.

It is when Abrams was constantly shaking aforementioned camera to get more dynamic footage. Along with the lens flares, this approach was actually criticised for years for being pointlessly surface level 'exciting'.

please understand that there was never going to be any finn-rey romance. the trilogy was very conceived as the most generic romance-novel plot of meeting and falling for a 'rogue'. it's completely obvious right from the start of 7, IF you've ever read a romance novel. Or even seen some shit like beauty and the beast. Finn is there to be like the gay talking candlestick
